Five leftover Silk Path blocks.

What can one do with five leftover blocks?

The first thing that comes to mind?

Table Runner!

Of course, these blocks would look great on point - but that means setting triangles.

Cut from yardage?  No way, Jose!

It was 5pm, retreaters had just arrived - I was in a hurry to get home because a phone call had come from The Hubster telling me that I had *BOTH* key fobs for the Subaru in my purse and would I *PLEASE* hurry home so he could get to his archery thing??

Five leftover blocks + one bin of sandy neutral strings and I had my plan for the evening while he was off doing his bows & arrows thing.  

Yippee!

Of course, the first thing to happen - Oh, Lola!

Before I knew it I had what I needed - My gosh I love this Juki more and more and more every time I use that thread cutter when paper-piecing or string piecing!

I love my vintage machines - but boy! This makes strip piecing, string piecing, paper-piecing just over the top wonderful.

Half-string blocks became setting triangles.

Loving how this is coming together so quickly!

Next up - quilting and binding!

Of course - little did I know that table runners could be measured in matching dog lengths.

Is it a table runner, or a Mabel runner? (Thanks for the funny punny Becky!)

Of course - zero dent was made in the sandy neutral strings.

Silk Path releases tomorrow, so no - instructions for the table runner will not be included. I just can't make it happen that quickly.  But a bit of experimenting with the string blocks should give you just the push you need while making Silk Path from the full quilt pattern.

I'll be ready for tomorrow! 

Monday is Part 2 of Star of Hope. I'll also be working on that over the weekend.

Tuesday is the intro to this year's Quiltville Winter Mystery - so yes, I'll be working on that too.

It looks like we have a beautiful weekend ahead - perhaps we'll get some ladies out for some lovely autumn walks?

It will break up the computer time that will take up most of my weekend.
