September/October '22 Quiltmaker Gift-Away!

Happy September, Quiltvillians!

If you are one of those in the "Hotter than Hades" parts of the country, and September carries the promise of cooler temps around the corner, I am cheering for you!

(With family in Arizona I understand this - my dad calls it a REVERSE winter.)

It's not quite time for all things Pumpkin Spice yet, but it's in sight -

And the September/October '22 issue of Quiltmaker is chock full of fun  (And doable!) fall projects to tantalize your fall loving hearts.

CONFESSION TIME!

I had these two issues in my hot little hands (But wrapped in plastic) for the past 2 weeks and I never noticed that my name was on the covers as a Triple Play! WHAT!?

This issue contains Part 5 of our Ruby Jubilee Mystery celeb rating 40 years of Quiltmaker Magazine, my Addicted to Scraps column with a super fun, easy and cute block called Taffy Pull, and a reprint of my Punkin Patch quilt as a reader favorite for fall!

Whoop whoop!!

Just a look at the index page will make your eyes happy dance!

Oh this is super cute!

It's called Happy Fall, Y'all!

Leaf Stacks!

What a great quilt for attacking your strip stash.  This one was designed by Natalie Crabtree.

Wicked Witch by Cassie Harms!

Of course, Punkin Patch is a feature!

Punkin Patch first appeared in Quiltmaker Magazine before it found a place in my book String Frenzy.

If you already have String Frenzy, here is your opportunity to jump right on in.  Is Punkin Patch sitting around in a bin, a UFO from last year?  Pull it out. Tis the season!

And if you have purchased String Frenzy don't forget the free bonus PDF for my Hunter's String Star quilt.  How would that work up in autumn colors?  It's got me thinking now!

Oh my!!  Bring on the giddy stitching!

Bitty Boo is by Denise Starck.

If you love row quilts, this one is for you!

Denise is the brain behind our Ruby Jubilee Mystery - she has free reign over placing and re-sizing my Addicted to Scraps column blocks from the past 10 years of issues, and Ruby Jubilee is honestly her brain child.

These blocks are made by my friend Aby!

I thought I would get started on making mine yesterday - but before I knew it the September Quiltvillians were arriving and it felt like old home week -

Maybe today.  Today I will pull and press and start cutting.  How are you coming on yours?

Taffy Pull block from my Addicted to Scraps column!

This is a block I can't wait to make into a real quilt!

Some scraps, some strips, and some center squares from my pre-cut squares box from the Scrap User's System.  Tons of un!

Would you like to make any of these quilts? Please comment below with your FAVORITE must make!

Would you like to win a copy?

I'll be drawing for ONE lucky winner (because one of these copies is MINE and I need it to make my own Ruby Jubilee blocks! LOL!) on Saturday 9/10/22.

Winner must have prize shipped to a USA address.  If you are outside of the USA we can send it to a friend within the USA who can forward it on to you.

Good luck everyone!

And hooray for the onset of Autumn Quilting Season!

Sharing Katherine's Triple Treat quilt -

Hot off the long arm!

Katherine writes: "Triple treat is off the longarm and ready to be trimmed and bound. Thanks again Bonnie for this wonderful leader/ender quilt."⁣
Triple Treat is super easy to sew between the seams while chain piecing other things.
This is a year-long challenge, and the tutorial is found under the Free Patterns tab.
Warning- this little block is so addictive you may find yourself making it your primary project instead of your Leader/Ender one!

⁣Mine is growing a little bit slower, but it will get there over the course of the next several months.

My basket of four-patches made as Leaders & Enders is added to every time I sit to sew something - I almost have enough variety to start putting some blocks together.

We'll see how many get done while I dig into Ruby Jubilee.

Are you joining in on this year's Leader & Ender challenge?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

And never miss an opportunity to tell them often!
Love the fun Fabrics in this vintage bow tie quilt top!
Happy September, everyone!

Working on the sashings of Frolic..won't be long now before it's done 👍. I have 5 rows of 4 blocks.
Beautiful day here, nice and cool.
I didn't enter for the drawing because I already have my copy of the magazine..

  2. Pumkin Patch is one of my favorite quilts that I have made. It was such fun to sew the quilt.

  3. I've already got ALMOST all of my pumpkins pieced so finishing Punkin Patch would be my go-to. If I were to start a new quilt, I'd get Bitty Boo fabrics pulled. Looks so FUN!

  4. I finished Part 5 last week. I knew this week would be busy with less stitching time. Can hardly wait for the Reveal in Part 6. No pumpkin spice for me yet! It's still Hot, Hot, Hot in the PNW. Quilt Festival is coming up quick. Registration ends tonight.

  8. I am still working on Bear Paws. I need to make 36 more blocks.
It's slow going due to the hour glass blocks. After this one is done I won't do anymore hour glass blocks for a while if I can help it, lol. Before I stop sewing for the day, I sew up 2 of the leader/ender challenge blocks. They are coming together nicely. Thank you, Bonnie, for another great pattern.

  9. Since I already have your Pumpkin Patch quilt done, I think I am going to look into Bitty Boo. Love the Taffy Pull block! It would be great in flannels for the winter to snuggle down under while watching movie.

  10. I'm thinking that Taffy Pull is being added to my long list of quilts to make. My triple Treat is being done in R, W, & B for a QOV quilt. I did the Shoo Fly L/E in three different size blocks for a QOV. I love working in my QOV scraps for L/E challenge.

  11. I have GOT to do Punkin Patch!!! A whole section of my fabric stash has been comprised of harvest/halloween themed fabrics for years. This is NOT really by design. It's largely the result of many shophops with nothing specific in mind to purchase for and I've always been drawn to autumn colors and themes. Looks like I've finally found a project I wouldn't mind gutting the stash with! ;)

  13. My version of Punkin Patch is halfway done, time to get back to it - maybe I'll have it finished for Halloween 2023?

  14. I think the Leaf Stacks quilt would use up a lot of scraps. I do have your Pumpkin Patch pattern. I love fall quilts.

  19. I made Punkin' Patch into a queen size and now I need to figure a way to make it into a king. I love it! Bought the magazine just for it years ago and then bought the book when it was available. That's wonderful that it's available again for others to discover and create.

  20. I wanted to do the Ruby Jubilee but never got started on it. I do like that Taffy Pull block will have to keep that one in mind.
