It’s All About FAMILY!

20161111_093522
It was an early early departure yesterday.

4am Alarm.

5am – Load up the van and head to the airport.

5:30am check in at the airport, trunk show bags for my Idaho Falls segment and all.

6:30am boarding.

7am in the air and on the way to Atlanta.

And then a 2 hour layover before catching the connection that will get us to Salt Lake.

Hello, hexies!  I haven’t touched you since I returned home from Houston and as I stitch the rows are getting shorter as I fill in that last corner to go on the eternal hexie project.

Family.  I’m on my way to family!

And family also means a Culver’s run!

There are a ton of us descending.  All 7 siblings and their spouses and children arrive TODAY.  But most of us arrived yesterday and we had a great time catching up, watching cousins play with cousins and making last minute Costco and Walmart runs for all that is needed to feed this brood over the next few days.

All Emory wanted was a plate of fries bigger than her head!

Actually, this was for everyone at the table, but it was such a cute photo!  Love this sweet niece of mine.

Dinner prep in full swing!

My brother Mike and his wife Nicole and their two kids Elizabeth and Jaxon are here from Eagle, Idaho.  My mom and step-dad also arrived from Garden Valley Idaho just before dinner time.  Also in the throng are my brother Mark and his wife Sharolyn and their youngest daughter Ashley who is happy to be here with her girl cousins and all the fun they will have together.

Cousins at the kid’s table!

Those who live more locally, from Tooele to Logan will be arriving today.  BRING ON THE CHAOS and the noise and the mess.  I love this family of mine!

So much  conversation!

Let’s finish this up and go for FARKLE!

We had the most cut-throat game of Farkle ever, down to the wire after Sharolyn was already declared winner as the first one to reach 10,000 points.

Niece Taylor, age 8, rolled in with 3,250 points in her last turn - coming from behind to unseat her Aunt Sharolyn and steal the win with cheers from all rattling the walls.

Family.

And time for bed as it was now midnight my time and there was no quiet space nor time for a nap during this day.

Sweet notes on our door!

Niece Addie went with grandma and grandpa Sherwood over to Mary’s new house for a sleepover with cousin Mykenzie in Tooele leaving us her room while we are here,  All fixed up!  Isn’t this note just the cutest.

Nice to know that there is an extra box of tissues under the table, just in case of tissue emergency!

And as I sit at the dining room table typing up this post, I am now surrounded by people fending for breakfast and ready to get this day going.

PS – with so many sleeping on air mattresses and every spare amount of floor space, the trunk show quilts came in handy and it did my heart good to cover those I love with quilts made with my own hands.  This IS why we quilt after all, isn’t it?

Quiltville Quote of the Day!

This is one of the quilts slept under by family last night!  Wonky Wishes!

Patience is not about doing nothing. Patience is about constantly doing everything you can, but being patient about results.

Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

  2. sounds like our family visits - I come from a family of 12 children! talk about air mattress's and shared bathrooms for visits ;) only large families seem to know what this is all about and how much fun it actually is. Have fun in Idaho Falls when you get there - I lived there back in the late 70's nice place - love it last time we visited the area was about 8 years ago and intend to go back

  3. I'm just a teeny bit jealous. One day, maybe my brothers and sister and families can get together all at once. We did when kids where younger, now we are the grandparents and our parents are gone. We are more scattered and it is harder. Have a wonderful time, enjoy the fairly good weather. May even have snow in the high country!!

  5. I am so happy you are having a joyous time with family! You so deserve the time! πŸ€—πŸ˜ you are truly blessed, hold the close, love them with all your might. Forget us, and enjoy your time! Better take heed your quilts don't go walking off with a loved one! Haha I'd have a hard time not giving them away....even tho they're for your trunk show! πŸ˜…πŸ˜‰

  6. Oh, Bonnie, this post evoked exactly the wonderful choas of a large family. With five kids and plenty if cousins, our gatherings were a lot like yours. My first Thanksgiving, four months after marrying and moving three large states away from my own family, I was hit with my first serious bout of homesickness with our quiet dinner for four. I called Mom and asked her just to please, please hold up the phone, still tethered to the wall by a cord back then, so I could here the chaos so it wuld feel a bit more like the holiday I was used to. Noisy, chaotic family is the BEST! Soak it in.

  11. Didn't we order nice weather for your visit to Utah? : )

  12. I love the door note you have to save that, and how lucky you and your husband are to have the honor of her bedroom.
We played bed scramble over many holidays. The best was to give up your bed to sleep with cousins in the living room on the pull out sofa bed
I hope those children wear you out in a good way

  17. So glad that you are having this time to be with family. It is one of many things to be thankful for. And you bring quilts for everyone to use, now what better sister, aunt, cousin, daughter can that be. LOL
May God continue to bless you in the days ahead.

  19. Although I read all of your Posts, Bonnie, I rarely leave a comment. This one really touched my heart. Family is soooo important as is patience. My husband has been going through some medical issues lately and we are being asked to be patient as he recovers......"things will get better"! You have a beautiful family and it is wonderful that you are having this opportunity to have this reunion. By the way, I am so pleased to report that I received your new book and the Essential Triangle Tool last week!! Can't wait to try the tool while creating the new MQ! Enjoy, Enjoy, Enjoy!! And Happy Thanksgiving!

  20. Bonnie I wondered if the Essential Ruler is important for the beginning of the mystery quilt. Mine is on backorder with you. Can't wait
