We did it.
It finally happened.
We are OUT of Essential Triangle Tools until more arrive.
There are only a FEW books left, but more will be arriving via Yellow Freight on a pallet and will be picked up at the Yellow Freight depot on Monday evening.
I’ve gone as far as I can go until more stock arrives.
It’s a great feeling, but also one that left me a bit panicky because there are so many orders that are having to wait for more copies of the Addicted to Scraps book and the Essential Triangle Tool.
I didn’t sleep well last night worrying about all of this! But when things are out of our hands, what good does unnecessary worrying do? We are talking quilts here. It’s a book. It’s a triangle tool. It’s not a life or death situation, and yet it just knots me all up that we have blown through more than 2,000 copies of the Addicted to Scraps book, and 1,500 Essential Triangle tools.
The amount of stuff flying out of here has been a landslide of success and happiness. And more on on their way, so I thank you for your patience.
Filling the LAST bundle order last night!
Gloria Beucler was invoice #6822
I’m taking a long weekend off. I need it. I will be running to the mountains as soon as this post goes live. I don’t want to miss the autumn leaves turning, the breezes from the front porch, and seeing friends Rick & Mona, as well as Caitlin and baby Carmen – it’s been far too long and we have weekend plans including burgers on the grill and a round of Farkle tonight.
Get me OUT OF HERE!
And this is where some funny stuff comes together in what I am calling the “Shift Happens!” GIFT-AWAY!
Notice anything weird about this copy??
Something happened in the cover application process and the spine has shifted onto the front of the book!
Oops! The back is weird too! See that margin?
When I emailed to report it and get credit for it on my account, we laughed and laughed because I titled the email “Shift Happens”, which has become my buzz phrase for things that go awry with seams and quilt piecing. I told them that I was going to offer this copy up as a Gift-Away.
You see, it’s perfect in every other way, just that the cover is well, UNIQUE.
And then the joke came that “You might be on to something here! Just put your signature in it and I bet it would be worth a one-of-a-kind fortune on Ebay!” HA!
Other things are not perfect either!
This ONE Essential Triangle Tool has a broken Bonus Buddy ruler in it. But the triangle itself, and the directions are perfectly fine. I think I’ll throw this in for good “measure!”
And I’m going to sweeten the deal!
The winner of this “Gift-Away!” will receive not only the “Shift Happens” Addicted to Scraps book and Essential Triangle Tool less-than-perfect bundle, but I’ll throw in a copy of the May/June 2016 issue of Quiltmaker magazine – My quilt Razzle Dazzle is inside! And I’ll finish it off with a lovely quilt journal by Edyta Sitar, and a Fabric Acquisition Expert fridge magnet.
Our drawing will be Wednesday evening because I leave for Quilt Market on Thursday!
Thanks for keeping things fun for me! And don’t forget YESTERDAY’s Quilty Box Giveaway, either! You can enter that one on that post HERE.
Today’s quote inspiration quilt!
Love that row of half blocks!
And the borders are ODD!
Quiltville Quote of the Day!
Fabulous observations from a Quiltville reader left in the comments section of yesterday's Quiltville Quote of the day. I think she sums it up just perfectly, don't you!
Thank you, Delores!
Vintage churn Dash from my collection found in North Carolina.

Hope the only "shift happens" is that you are able to shift to fun weekend mode and not worry about things you cannot control.
ReplyDeleteI love that "shift happens" - I hope I win! I was one of the lucky ones who already received my book and ruler...and I haven't opened the ruler yet. I'll happily regift the originals to a new owner and keep the "shifted" ones! Thanks, Bonnie, for all you do!
ReplyDeleteMy order # hasn't been filled yet but that's OK. Don't worry. I can wait. Hope you have a joyful weekend. CATHY
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your 'time off' at the cabin.
ReplyDeleteChristine from Ontario
Shift really does happen! But I hope you can take a bit of perspective from some one who is twenty something years older than you. I used to be a worrier and then I learned that most of the things you worried about never happened! And when the situation was resolved it was usually in a way I had never anticipated!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend with friends in one of the most beautiful places on earth! I know you will come back renewed and refreshed, reenergized and ready for Quilt Market! Have a grand time relaxing. Be sure to laugh a lot! It's the best stress medicine!

Oh my goodness. A double Whammy for sure! I would love to have your Shift Happens Giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThere's something in the air, time to get out of Dodge for sure. I'm going to play with my Sister. She needs help unpacking her new place that is only a bout 15 miles form me now. Tell Mona Hello from me. Enjoy your week-end! Don't even worry about posting those Colors cards that everyone is waiting for...lol We can wait.
Bonnie, thank you so much for the daily (or more) blog posts. I read them while at work when there is nothing to do. Love the stories, inspirations, and quilting tips and tricks. Can't wait to get home and sit on my sewing machine to get some sewing time in. Drooling now and can't wait for this (work)day to be over. Happy Quilting from Mobile, Alabama
ReplyDeleteI love this post! What am entertaining way of reminding is that not only can we tolerate imperfection, but sometimes we can embrace it and celebrate it! Hope you have a fabulous fall weekend and recharge your batteries.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie- have a great weekend. Hoping your hand will get some deserved respite. The half blocks remind me of the Wizard of Oz' witch and her feet showing under the house! Too many Halloween fabrics on the mind I suppose. Give Sadie a hug from NM. Enjoy Houston.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Imperfection can be turned into something positive as you have done- thank you. Love the naming of it as Shit Happens. Have a fantastc weekend at the cabin. Love the plates and I remember those sugar pourers from my childhood.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your well-deserved break, and those autumn leaves! I love the churn dash quilt with the shifted row! And just so you know, I am perfectly content to anticipate my order being filled sometime next month. I hope you're giving yourself a Christmas bonus out of all these sales!
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad but lucky for one of us. Best wishes everyone. I am a quilt retreat at Higgens Lake Michigan working on Hawks Nest. Love you Bonnie
ReplyDeleteAlso Bonnie loved your suggestion of Netflix Stranger Things. Great show.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win - I did the "add your link"! Enjoy your cabin time and relax for a little while :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy that you're running out of rulers and books so quickly because it means all your hard work is being rewarded with successful sales. Enjoy your family and friends time this weekend.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time off. Don't worry about books or rulers - we all knew the deal when we bought them. You've done a tremendous job shipping all you had and keeping us informed. RELAX this weekend.
ReplyDelete'Off' things seldom bother me. Enjoy your weekend, you've earned it.
ReplyDeleteThis could be the quilting equivalent of the upside down Jenny postage stamp.
ReplyDeleteLucky you Gloria. I've had her as a customer online, but never met her in person. I'd take your book in any condition. We had our local Scrap Pack meeting today and I'd love to show it off to them next month.
ReplyDeleteShift happens reminds me of a saying we had at the hospital.......
ReplyDelete"Enemas are for people who can't shift for themselves!"
Have a great weekend!
This reminds me of my ages old copy of Joy of Cooking that was gifted to me, the cover is actually on upside down! The friend who bought it didn't look inside when she bought it.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend. I just got back from North Carolina and the leaves are spectacular this year. Got my book and ruler this afternoon. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteToo funny - a scrappy book cover! As for running out of things - that is a) success and b) a chance for a breather - happy and much needed coincidence. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the mountains. I love the Blue Ridge.
ReplyDeleteYou need a get away more than anyone I know.

Worry is like a rocking chair - it gives you something to do but gets you nowhere..... have a good weekend - worry free!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea this give away is a HOOT! I don't have the ruler yet, so this would be great win for me!
ReplyDeleteHi, Bonnie. I'm looking forward to having fun with the new ruler when you get them back in stock but in the meantime, I am already having fun making quilts that challenge me mysteriously, traveling all over the world visually with you, enjoying several vintage sewing machines, the purchase of which were inspired by you, and even sharing a pet with you (husband allergic so not pets here). Please don't worry about your inventory. peace
ReplyDeleteVerna B.
Shift happens. I haven't heard that before, but I like it and I will use it;-)
ReplyDeleteI have learned that if worrying helps a situation, then worry. If not, don't waste your energy and time on it. Easier said than done, but I am getting better at it.
Have a great weekend.
What a great give away. I already have both your new ruler and new book, but will pass one on to my quilting sister if I am lucky enough to win. Getting ready for retreat next week. My new toys will go along. Thanks for all you do.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie - Love all that you do. I have made I believe 5 mystery quilts so far. Looking forward to the next one.
ReplyDeleteKathy - Rhode Island
I wish I could learn not to worry. I do want to thank you for such a thoughtful giveaway. Not everyone or everything is "perfect" but, that doesn't mean that they're not still very useful. I know I'm not perfect by far but, like many others I give it my all. Have a wonderful autumn weekend, enjoy! ;-> Toni Anne
ReplyDeleteWow! A very generous offer....I haven't had a chance to order mine yet but I hope to soon.

ReplyDeleteBonnie, am I to understand that you are going to have a booth at the Houston International Quilt Festival? Thought I saw it in a blog a few days ago but I may be wrong. If yes, what booth # will we be enjoying seeing you at?
ReplyDeleteGlad you are getting away to the mountains. You are the best. I love the mountains. We are hoping to someday move there.
ReplyDeleteI'm am learning to live the "exception to the rule" kind of life. I hope the book ends up on my table.
ReplyDeleteFall is beautiful in Ontario right now. We were in North Carolina in the summer and I fell in love with the state. I can only imagine how gorgeous it is in the mountains. Have fun making memories!
Hope to see you in Houston. Will you be there for the show?
