Is there a better time to be on retreat than on International Quilting Day?
With winter HOPEFULLY in the rear view mirror - we are looking ahead to a beautiful spring and getting into all of the quilty good trouble we can!
There is good food to enjoy, beautiful quilts to make, some make it and take it projects happening - and more.
From the other side of the table!
Lupine & Laughter is getting some borders!
A gorgeous maple leaf is ready for binding!
And there's a whole lotta trimming going on!
There is quilting going on in every corner as a beautiful blended nine-patch gets its binding sewn down during some quiet hand stitching time.
And finally FINALLY after that teaser of a fake spring we had a couple of weeks ago - we were able to get out for a dirt road hike to move our muscles and breathe some fresh air.
Look! Little spots of yellow!
We can't quilt hour hours sitting in a chair, unless we stretch and move a bit.
And Mooooooo-ve a bit more!
Welcome to Virginia's season of mud!
I love that one blonde one just staring back at us.
Green is happening all around -
And a walk is so much more enjoyable with quilty friends in tow!
I took this photo through the back entry door glass - Lynne is the cat whisperer and Hazel is enchanted.
But if you look closely in the bottom left corner you'll see a bit of Flash's face. He has moved his 6 feet away rule to maybe 4 feet. We just keep working with him. He's still so very feral and no one has been able to touch him yet....but baby steps are being made.
Just 3 quilters on cat watch duty.
All rows are made -
(Yes, I'm still in pin-matching hell...but it's worth it!)
The goal is to get the center together, and start in on the fun borders I have planned - and yes, there WILL BE STRINGS! Woot!
It might not look like it, but Hazel is cheering me on, too. LOL!
Last night while hexie stitching -
Tula loves the dogs! She walked right over to the front of Mabel's crate, tucked her feet under and stayed there for the longest time.
Mabel didn't seem to care one bit -
And I wish I could say that all was well in the animal realm - Mable is back to 100% - this morning I woke up to Zoey throwing up blood. I don't know if what Mabel had was contagious - it doesn't matter. Hubster Dave has scooped up the sample from the floor, put it in a plastic baggie and is off to the emergency vet with Zoey.
Here we go again.
Along with International Quilting Day, it's also "Send your vet's OTHER kid to college" Day.
Prayers, well wishes, good juju, howling at the moon - all welcome.
And if you haven't yet, please pop over to the Gift-Away post and get your entry in!
I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Brookgreen PDF pattern from me and:
A Caramel roll from Cotton to Quilts!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Please don't give up on the dream just because it will take a long time to get there.
The time is going to pass anyway. What can you do to bring you closer to your goal?

Let's hope the vet doesn't have more kids. Praying for all the animals and humans. Happy Quilting Day! Brenda Jackson
ReplyDeleteI hope whatever is affecting Zoey is nothing horrible. I am thinking the vet would have said something about quarantining Mabel if it was contagious, so hoping it's just an irritation that is causing the blood tossup with Zoey.
ReplyDeleteI hope soon all is well with the animal portion of the family. Watch out for you and Dave then!

I hope and pray Zoey gets better soon. It never ends, does it. The worry, the stress, the nursing of a sick pet, and the expense. I remember you mentioned how serious this is and I pray that Zoey is as strong as Mabel and recovers. I'm dealing with a nasty yeast infection in my Zoe's ear, and she just won't stop shaking her head even after almost a week of the meds from the vet. So, I'll keep up with the daily ear wash and application of the gel in her ear for the full 2 weeks. Hope it clears up by then or it's another expensive visit and more worry, stress, and nursing.
ReplyDeleteI have 1 dog, 2 indoor cats and 3 outdoor cats. I usually try to pay cash to my vet, every three weeks when my doggie has to go in for a treatment because charge cards cost her more. But the last couple months I have been in so often that I used up a whole pad of checks! Only to my vet! I told her that they all had to be well now cuz I was out of money! Sharon
ReplyDeletePrayers for your babies, very expensive few months for you, but that’s what we do.
