This was Wednesday's beautiful preview of summer (in MARCH!) as we reached 82 degrees.
Crazy, right?
Grass is green, daffodils are blooming in the background - the peeper frogs down by the creek were singing their spring song. All was well.
Until night time blew in and we went from Fake Spring to Fake Summer and then back to below freezing in the course of the night.
Thursday norning.
Sleet and snow!
I had Hubster Dave take me over to the inn and drop me off. He'd come get me later in the afternoon since we didn't know what was going to be happening with the roads. That's the ice building up on the hood of the car, so you know it was on the roads as well.
Welcome to spring in Virginia where you can experience all four seasons in the span of 24 hours.
Thursday was also a desk day for me, getting everything ready to release Brookgreen for yesterday's Gift-Away. Did you get your entry in? More on that further down the post.
But halleluiah - there was enough time to finish this batch and do some de-papering.
Some stitching into quarters -
And I'm ready for some block assembly.
There are a LOT of seams to pin-match. So I'm taking it slow and just going with it, one pin at a time.
But check out this cute little 1980s duck neutral! Did you have this in your stash at one time?
In it goes!
I caught this photo last evening at home while eating dinner....zoomed in to see Lola checking out Tula who was simply loafing on the living room floor.
After a minute of Lola watching intently, she gave a hiss and ran back downstairs.
There has been no fighting - just a lot of hissing and running away.
I don't know if this means we are getting anywhere, but doors are being left open when we are home and we only close them to prevent cat fights while we are gone.
So what will this weekend bring? More sewing. I've reached a bit more than half-way on these little Gretchen blocks and I'm starting to think about what I'd like to do for the borders to spice things up a bit all while continuing to use the small scraps that don't seem to be going down at all.
We are back up to 62 today so I am hoping for a long leisurely walk this afternoon.
How about your own weekend ahead? What are your plans for the next couple of days?

Meanwhile, Hazel is staying warm inside the QPO and keeping watch over my strips on the long arm.
Or keeping watch over the comings and goings of folks driving by -
Or keeping watch over the back of her eye lids.
And no, I simply cannot resist her curly belly fur!
And if you haven't yet, please pop over to the Gift-Away post and get your entry in!
I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Brookgreen PDF pattern from me and:
A Caramel roll from Cotton to Quilts!

Have a wonderful quilty weekend, everyone!

I had duck fabric! I'm thinking that I had pillow panels that matched too!
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody else see angelfish in those quarter blocks or is it just me...??? Hmmm... now ideas are swirling... Oh, the life of a quilter!!!
ReplyDeleteI saw the fish too! And thinking they're really cute
DeleteI'm working on Blue Stardust--such little pieces, but I'm using lots of scraps! I have to make myself take breaks to avoid back aches--planted seeds in Jiffy pots yesterday. Illinois Spring with snowflakes flying is good weather for sewing.
ReplyDeleteWeekend plans, going to stay in. We are expecting snow tonight followed by freezing rain, then lots more snow Sunday and Monday. Hoping to get my last mystery quilt loaded onto my frame and start quilting. Call me crazy but I already picked out fabric for this years mystery quilt. Thank you for these mystery patterns.
ReplyDeleteMine is a “curated collection”! Our cats are doing the same dance, hiss and run. Although I do see very slight progress and I’m still holding out hope that they will one day co-exist piece-fully.Fran in Wa
ReplyDeleteI'll be Stitching House Blocks for our Habitat for Humanity Quilts we make for the Community. Lol, Ivy! Glad there wasn't a cat fight. There's some flooding in our local area. Eek, Lossing some property down the creek for some neighbors up close to the foothills of the Blues. Fake Spring for sure.
ReplyDeleteOMG Bonnie I STILL have a TON of that ducky neutral from the 80s!!! Ugh!!! Ya want some?!? 🤣 I'm trying so hard to use it up!! Putting a little bit in each quilt I do, but.... it's so ugly! Pretty soon it may go to value village! 😆
ReplyDeleteWe also have been having beautiful Spring weather and THEN it began to snow and continued all day and through the night and we are back to a winter wonderland once again. Sheesh! Pretty, but come on!
ReplyDeleteThere are videos on YouTube about introducing cats in your home. You seem to be right on target with Lola and Tula. I hope they work out to living peacefully together. 2 out of 3 would be a start :-)
ReplyDeleteHello. Here is Southern Alberta, Canada, winter and spring have been fighting back and forth, today we have snow and a north wind. Temperature is minus 9C(15F). Tomorrow is predicted to be mainly sunny.
ReplyDeleteI have some left of the duck fabric! Not much, but it is red ducks and I'm planning on putting it in an upcoming Abbeygate quilt. I have been planning on a someday red and white quilt for a long time, thinking I might do a hunter star quilt, but oh my, your Abbeygate just stole my heart.
ReplyDeletesee saw weather here in MD too....gee i think you might be morphing into a crazy cat lady...LOL
ReplyDeleteYour weather is similar to weather in Dallas/Ft Worth. Can swing 50 degrees in 12 hours. Sharon
ReplyDelete"Textile investment portfolio!" ;>)!! I'll remember that while cutting kits for a burrito pillowcase class we're teaching at the library this weekend during the "snowmageddon" that is supposed to be starting about now in Minnesota. "1-2 foot" by Monday morning "they" say.
ReplyDeleteYou never seem to run out of quilt pattern ideas. We are grateful.
ReplyDeleteYes, I do have that duck fabric in my stash. Every time I think I’ve used the last of it, more appears.
