Let The Good Times Roll!

The Richmond Express gals are in the house and quilting up a storm!

And the projects are as varied as the conversations interrupted only by bursts of laughter.

You know, as I work my way into my older crone years, there is nowhere else I'd rather be with than a house full of like-minded quilters.

Everyone from different backgrounds and varying life experiences - we could write a book for the answers to all questions because SOMEONE in this house has been through what someone else is just embarking on.  It's marvelous!

If you know the name of this pattern and the designer please drop it into the comments below because though I was told, I laughed it right out of my brain and I can't remember bupkiss this morning!

Rough & Tumble for a grandson!  Next up: Binding!

I made my own Rough & Tumble for Casden when they moved into their current house and he was getting a bigger bed. It's been 5 years now and I think I'm going to have to make him a BIGGER quilt as he grows.

It's really fun to sew with recycled fabric and make something like this - great for dragging to ball games, to keep in the car, take on picnics - not all great quilts need to be expensive quilting cotton.

This quilt was made for making memories and being out and about.

I know what this is!

It's Emerald City from String Frenzy!

My favorite thing about this quilt is the sashings - because who doesn't like a sashing that looks like ribbons going over-under-over-under like ribbon threaded through eyelet?

I'm sure this one will be assembled during retreat - and another quilter has got this one under way with the addition of a bit of turquoise included:

I love how everyone puts their own touches and likes into every given project. I'm looking forward to watching this one grow.  Beautiful colors and fabrics!

As for my day? I lost a big chunk of time due to taking the van to town to get it inspected, and then stopping by the grocery store to pick up needed items while I was there.

By the time I got back, and after visiting with the ladies a bit, I settled back into my LEAST favorite part of quilting - matching points and pinning.

But it has to happen!

And as I am pin-matching, and pressing, I come upon many little pieces with more memories.

This plaid shirt? It belonged to my Grandpa Mach.  After his funeral I came home with several of his cotton button-down shirts in my suitcase.  I've used most of them up and there are only little pieces and strings left.  

This triangle was a trimming from a stitch-n-flip corner. Perfect for this paper pieced project.

I'm thinking Fabricland in Ontario Oregon, Late 1980s. Jeff was born in January 1990 and while I was pregnant with him I was teaching a log cabin quilting class at Fabricland (Which of course is no longer there and has ben gone forever) before Fat Quarters were even a thing.

Later on while I was making bears and bunnies and lots of other dolls and selling them at boutiques I used this fabric for bunny dresses.  I loved making the clothes for the dolls.  Printy flouncy dresses with striped bloomers underneath. Lace and ribbons and buttons....

I think I've used up the last of this one now. too.

I'm up to here.

It's getting there, but my disdain for pin-matching is still growing by the block! LOL!

I know I'm not going to enjoy pinning the lengths of the rows to sew the rows together.

Still plugging away on the neutral hexie border - last night with Zoey by my side.
I do love this little routine we have.
Today - weather is GREATLY IMPROVED! We are looking at a high of 62 this afternoon.
There may be some porch sitting.  And more visiting, and more laughing.
