The daffies on the hillside on our dirt road hike up Roundhouse Road -
They are at peak bloom right now and the brilliant yellow against the blue sky makes me so happy!
I know they will be gone soon. It never lasts long enough, this promise of spring and warmer weather, but I love seeing them here all riotous.
Along the river =
Just the four of us.
And the cows. There must be cows.
Even above us - we can hear their moving through the dry grass in search of something green to munch
Yes it's a selfie - so the sign is backwards!
Leaving Grayson County VA
Entering Alleghany County, NC.
It was a quick hike with a great pace - we were back to the retreat in under an hour and ready to sew again.
There was an En Provence to work on.
Four-patches for Geese on a String (String Frenzy) to make that would end up here:
Loving this limey green!
Emerald City from String Frenzy is coming together!
Gorgeous!
This was a block of the month, and the bottom is folded up and pinned to keep it off the floor. It's fit for a king sized bed!
Getting some lovely applique.
Hawaiian applique basted and prepped for hand sewing.
Flange binding sewn down to Rough & Tumble!
The block pattern is called Twinkle and is found in Fat Quarter Workshop.
Not only are these ladies busy making beautiful things, but they have a collective base of knowledge that helped Shirley get the stray and stuck piece of thread out of her bobbin area on her Featherweight so she could keep sewing!
Projects and finishes are wonderful, but the friendships built quilter-to-quilter is the most precious of all.
I have a top center finish!
I have not done my stay-stitching around the outside edge yet to keep seams from popping open, but I'll do that in due time.
All of that pin matching of points wore this girl out, but it was worth it!
I'm planning on borders, and I know what I want to do - but I need to make a few samples first and see if my idea will pan out.
Purrrrfection!
I'm planning on a narrow inner border first to float the center and give eyes a place to rest. I found this in the stash and have enough of it to showcase here.
I think Lola would agree. Here she is posed on top of the treadle machine because the Roomba was going in the studio. LOL!
Zoey's escapade to the Emergency Vet got here there just in time. Her case of Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis was not as severe as Mabel's because we knew what it was and we caught it early.
I have no idea how she got it, It's not supposed to be contagious.
Because I know someone is going to ask - here are known causes.
At any rate - after receiving IV treatment she is on antibiotics and probiotics to get her gut health back to what it should be.
Can we please pause the vet bills for a while?
Here's a peek at Tula rounding the couch to see what I'm up to in my recliner.
At least she is doing really well - she owns the house now.
And if you haven't yet, please pop over to the Gift-Away post and get your entry in!

What is bringing happiness to your heart on this Monday?
Tumbler quilt top shared by Diane in Michigan.
Tumblr was our Leader & Ender challenge several years ago and the tutorial is found under the free patterns tab on my blog. Have you made one?
Happy Monday, everyone -

It was the second quilt I made for my daughter way back in the 90's. I think she still has it
ReplyDeleteThose vet bills have to stop! Love daffodils, the talent and friendships that surround you warms my heart!
ReplyDeleteSince both dogs got it, I wonder if they found a dead animal somewhere. Clostridia would definitely be found there. (my career was in Microbiology.) Anyhow, here's hoping it never happens again!
ReplyDeleteI have made a tumbler quilt with a flannel backing and it's a favorite in our TV room.
It's my last week of International Quilting Month. Of course I'm Quilting. Gotta find an anti- fatigue mat. My feet hurt. Just watching my Tulip and Daffy Choir over here in the PNW.
ReplyDeleteYesterday here in Ohio was crazy. When I went to work at 1pm it was 70degrees. About 7:30 it started to rain. Then came the hail, lightening and thunder. We all were soaked just going to our cars at 9PM and the temp was down in the 40's. Today its in the 30's with a mix of snow fulrries and rain. Hurry Spring I need some warmth!!!
ReplyDeleteI empathize totally with fur babies ongoing vet bill but I guess it's a necessary "evil". We want them to live happy, healthy and long lives. Been dealing with our GSD's allergies since we rescued him four years ago. In a nutshell...what was thought to be environmental allergies are actually food allergies. Good thing we have our quilting to keep us sane! Love those daffies!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the info on Gastroenteritis -- it's good to know.
ReplyDeleteThe ladies are so inspiring...one quilt is prettier than the next. Can't wait to see the over the porch photos.
Glad to hear that Zoey is doing better! And Tula looks terrific.

Glad to hear that Zoey is on the mend. Hope that y'all are done with urgent vet visits and things can return to normal levels of pet chaos.
ReplyDeleteLovely center finish! That's a great article about HGE. My Luke had that a few years back. He might have tasted some dirt with bone meal in it but other than that I couldn't figure out a specific cause. He recovered quickly. I hope Zoey does as well. Mabel had a rough case of it. I'm glad everyone is on the mend.
