I finished the binding on the String Rings quilt - but due to certain circumstances I have not been able to get a full out finished photo -
The first circumstance being the weather. It was barely above freezing by afternoon yesterday - and I spent the day flipping laundry and taking care of things...
All while discovering a water leak coming from the kitchen (underneath the dishwasher) that had been leaking into the cellar. ACCCCKKK!
It's not leaking under the sink - that's bone dry, which is a good thing....
After dinner last night Hubster Dave and I were down in the cellar pulling the insulation from the beams and trying to find where it was coming from...
We had frozen pipes during the worst of the snowcrete episode a couple of weeks ago, and we think the leaky pipe was caused by that scenario.
At any rate - Hubster Dave is on his way to Lowes for supplies while I type this, son Jeff is on his way to help. Thank heavens for my men folk!
In the mean time, the water is off. And I have quilters arriving at 4pm. Yikes.
Also. My website is down. Start Logic was my web host who was bought out by iPage, who was just acquired by Network Solutions and according to the chat I had this morning:
Okay. So we wait.
Website down, they are working on it -I'll give an update tomorrow.
And until then - we carry on and sew when we can.
I believe we left off here - Cushion covers quilted and trimmed.
And what next?
Split backings.
And this is where some fun came in!
I have picked up fabric, or have been gifted fabric relating to my travels with no set project to use them in.
Oh look, I’ve found a friend!
In November 2025 I was in the Amazon on a trip with Craftours, and we got to hold a sloth. It was the cutest thing - they are always smiling.
More in this old post HERE.
And oh.yes, it was THAT bloody hot.
My friend Jamie who was also on that trip sent me this sloth fabric in commemoration of our trip together. I've been waiting for the right project to use it!
If you look closely at that photo above you'll see where the backing is in two over-lapping pieces. I give about a 4'' over-lap and do a rolled hem on both pieces.
This fabric is directional and the print is large, so this is a great project for it!
Once the backing is basted in place (raw edges to the outside edge just like a quilt back) I can add the binding the same way as I would on a quilt.
Ready for turning and stitching down starting tonight.
I had planned on starting the stitching down last night - but you know...water leaking in the cellar. We didn't get home until after 9pm.
I had enough binding left over from the String Rings that I used it on two cushion covers - this one has a floral backing, and the red/white/blue one shown in the top photo of this post has a Union Jack fabric I picked up in England while there.
I'll be doing these little bindings for a while but I can't wait to get them done,. put the pillow forms in, and place them on the retreat beds for a spot of fun and color.
Now all I'm wishing for is a quick fix on the leaky water situation. a safe arrival for the incoming retreaters and smooth sailing through the weekend.
Today's temps are back in the 40s, and there is a bit of welcome sunshine today.
How are things going in your neck of the woods?
Are you dreaming of coming with me to Romania in June? June is stated to be the most beautiful month to visit. I can't wait.

We still have some spots available, and I was told that the cut off date for those who wish to join me is March 6th - so hurry! Get your reservation in NOW!
Find out more on my Craftours travel page.
I'm looking forward to making some travel memories together with you! Who knows? Romania just may be the inspiration for our NEXT Quiltville Winter Mystery!
Talking down to yourself does not help you grow.
If we wish to encourage others, it begins with encouraging ourselves!
And who doesn't love a good old sweet and simple nine patch?
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone -
