Bursts of Color!

We took a walk through Lowes yesterday after my appointment with the dermatologist.

No matter how much snow there is outside I saw the hope of incoming spring making an appearance around every corner.

Blooming orchids!

Bags of potting soil, bird feeders, they've even put the lawn mowers out front.

Okay they were covered with snow, but it still brings hope of spring, doesn't it?

There were some BBQs out by the lawn mowers as well.

No matter how bleak things may look and feel right now, spring is right beneath the ground, rumbling and riotous waiting to awaken.

It's coming!

This is your reminder to NOT put off appointments like mammograms and physicals and blood work tests and yes - dermatology.

Because what might not be visible to your naked eye (Naked being the key word here! LOL!)

They just might find something early enough that a simple freeze-off could save you from a much later problem.

I thought I had something growing on my nose.  I was really wary of it over the past couple of months because I knew I had this appointment coming.

After my previous Mohs surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma from my forehead, I'm always on guard.

And guess what?  It was a NOTHING BURGER!

It was a clogged pore.  And likely on top of a tiny cyst.  And we are going to watch it for a year and see what happens.

That was it.  I was in and out of that appointment with my appointment date set for next year.

And then came the trip to Lowes.

That led to a trip to Walmart to pick up a new set of cooking pans for the in as we start season 7.

The other set I had when we opened has seen lots of use and better days and the ceramic non-stick coating is scraped in places due to the use of metal utensils.

*Note to self* Remove ALL metal spatulas from the premises and make sure non-scratch ones are readily available!

We dropped things off at the inn, and came home for lunch just in time because THIS happened:

Please Make It Stop!

A few hours later when it seemed to have stopped, Hubster Dave went out in the trusty RZR to once again plow the drive before it turned to sheer ice.

And there he goes!

This is the steepest part.  If you can follow that hairpin turn down and around you'll see that the drive completely disappears from view.

I'm so ready for the snow part of winter to be over!

Yes, it's beautiful but enough is enough.

I wasn't going out there - I took this photo through the sliding glass door...So grateful I could just stay in and sew.

This morning through the glass door -

The sun is shining on that crazy iced-over rain chain. Today our high is 22 f degrees.

Tomorrow though - the promise of tomorrow should see things start to thaw as we really get ready for Wednesday's retreaters to arrive!

All finished!

I was able to finish these nine blocks yesterday giving me the number I need to move on to the next part of this project -

I'll be laying things out and putting things together.

Maybe I'll have a top to share come Monday?  Just Maybe.

And this is where I hope the project I've seen in my mind over the past couple of months will actually turn out looking like I hoped it would.

I loved making these simple sawtooth stars. One of my favorite blocks of all time.

Do you have favorites t4hat you return to again and again, too?

Are you dreaming of coming with me to Romania in June?  June is stated to be the most beautiful month to visit.  I can't wait.

We still have some spots available, and I was told that the cut off date for those who wish to join me is March 6th - so hurry!  Get your reservation in NOW!

Find out more on my Craftours travel page HERE.

I'm looking forward to making some travel memories together with you!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Life is kind of like "Quilt as Desired."

While there are some circumstances and experiences that you can't control, twists and turns along the way, you have a hand in creating a life that you love.

Carve out some time this weekend and do something that you love!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
