What About That Hexie Quilt?

First things first!  My website is back up and running.  YAY.  That is all.

Questions have come regarding that forever hexie quilt I've been working on for more than 6 years.

Oh, believe me - it's still in the background, but it hasn't made much of an appearance because the progress is slow, repetitive, and I thought - of little interest until I reach another big moment on it.

I worked on a couple of motifs while in Morocco - Here I am sitting on my room balcony adding pieces to the one I started on our overseas flight.

And believe me - the Moroccan tile table was not lost on me after the tile workshop we had!

This was the little tile I made in our class. It was not as easy as it looks as they are built upside down!

As weather permitted, I would find a place to stitch in the afternoons before dinner time when we got back from whatever the day's adventure was. I finished adding aqua around this one -

And started this one on my homeward bound flights.

Upon reaching home and unpacking I found I had enough of the aqua-surrounded motifs to put another diagonal row together and add it on to the mothership.  See top photo of this post.  It's not easy with an Ivy cat in your lap!

It took a few evenings of stitching to add that new diagonal row on, but it got there. And since you said you haven't seen the puppers lately, let me assure you that Mabel takes her "Must hold the quilt top down to the floor!" job quite seriously.

I've added the border to the side at the bottom of this photo. The other side border is made and is waiting until the unfinished corner is done so I can add it.  I've started piecing the top and bottom borders. It's a process that is boring (all neutrals) and will take another forever, so we just keep plugging on it in the background.

Right, Mabel?  Right.

But also in the act - Zoey!

Evidently holding down the quilt top is a two-dog job!

As of last count there are only 6 large aqua-surrounded motifs left to make, and I save those for my travel trips. The pieces don't take up much space and are pretty brainless to do while watching movies on a flight, or enjoying the afternoon sunshine after a day's touring is done and dinner is still a few hours off.

I'll be working on them on my upcoming Romania trip!  Are you coming with me?

Are you dreaming of coming with me to Romania in June? June is stated to be the most beautiful month to visit. I can't wait.

The Lincoln Quilt Guild ladies are all checked into the inn - the only thing missing is the DISHWASHER!

We found the culprit of the water leaking into the cellar.

It seems that when you have 12 people and 3 meals a day that the dishwasher is running overtime and as we start our 7th season, it needed replacing. It's just worn out.

Luckily we found one on huge sale at Lowes and it will be installed today. The ladies were so understanding and didn't mind paper places or some hand washing to take care of their clean up from last night's meal and I'm hoping by lunch tie we'll be good to go today.

The cellar is okay - there is a drain in the floor and we've got fans running down there. The whole thing is concrete wall and floor...it's an old cellar, not even a basement really, so all is well.

And though a bit rainy overnight, our weather is improving!

Daffodils are making their appearance!

Coming up everywhere!

And overseen by Hazel who is happy to be loved on by all the incoming quilters.

I'm hoping by the weekend we can start in on some road hikes - temps in the 60s should be happening!

I'll be back to the scraps today - I've got a plan.

What's up for your Thursday?

Just a few days left to save!
