Weekend Quilting Warriors!

First things first!

On Saturday I had my scheduled appointment for a much needed haircut that had been put off a couple of weeks due to my European adventure.

I do admit to trimming my bangs myself before leaving because I couldn't stand it anymore (I know I know. But sometimes you just have to!)

And once that haircut was finished (Hooray!) and next appointment scheduled, I had a quick thought to stop by Walgreens to see if I could get my flu and Covid shots.

I'm not sure how it has been wherever you live, but here in Virginia they were doing crazy things like making you have a doctor's prescription to get a covid shot, even if you were over the recommended age of 65.

That may have lifted during the time I was in Europe, but it's really created a mess.  Not only for the doctor's offices that now have to call in prescriptions everywhere, but the app for my regular CVS wouldn't even let me put in an appointment anywhere near me - I'd have to drive to Boone, an hour away.

I was already in North Carolina for my haircut, so I stopped at Walgreens and they worked me right in.  No doctor's prescription needed, no hassle over my age at 63 on why I felt I needed one (Because I have people coming from various states every week and if they bring it here, I don't have time to catch it!)

At any rate - thank you Walgreens, for not only the quick and painless service, but for the gal at the counter wearing a shirt with a stylized Walgreens W with faces of all kinds and the caption "Diversity is beautiful."

I just needed this right now.

The only symptoms I've had are a bit of a sore arm at injection site, and a barely there headache that has been greatly helped by TYLENOL.

And back to retreat I went...

They are not just making quilts, they are making SHOES!

This came as a kit - how fun are these?

And rugs!!  How cute!

Oh, he's cute!

Here is another rug - or floor cloth - underway.

And quilted sweatshirt jackets in the making!

Adorable!\\

Mahvelous, Darling - Simply Mahvelous~!

Of course, More Sister's Choice blocks were at the forefront, using Doug Leko's Simple Folded Corners Mini to trim first, sew second.  No drawing lines!

Lovely blocks everywhere.

These will eventually end up on point.

I love where these are going!

And then there were more!

Super focused late night sewing!

Lovely in red & black.

A floral garden in the making.

Several of us even got in a road hike down Bear Branch road with Zoey & Mabel yesterday afternoon!

Autumn splendor.

These are the colors that are inspiring me right now. grassy greens, rusty fallen leaves, sandy taupes.

And a smattering of white fluffy clouds.

The onlooking cows kept us - and themselves - entertained with our passing by.

Hello, there!

I need to be out here as often as I can over the next few weeks, soaking up the change of seasons.  Being out in it.  Unless it's raining. Then all bets are off and you'll find me in the studio with a hot cup of tea dreaming of being out here soaking it all in.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Hello, Monday!
Laundry first, or sewing first - or a bit of both at the same time?

  1. When I trim my bangs, I apologize to my stylist that I had a self-inflicted bang-wound. Happy haircut!

TYLENOL (in all caps) made me LOL!! I took it while pregnant - who didn't back then - and produced a normal child with an IQ off the chart top. Would love to know how that over-tanned piece of shoe leather explains that. In other words, correlation does not equal causation, and stay out of my medicine cabinet if you're not my doctor. Thanks for the Monday morning laff! (gonna stay anon for this one)

  3. I love the Sisters Choice on Point! Had a great weekend with Quikty friends and my Tiara buddy.. some days you just gotta wear the Tiara. We had a PJ day too. Even though we went ho.e to sleep. My best kind of Retreat to sleep in my own bed. Taught my friend to use the Essential Triangle Tool. She asked how to get that sticky glue off?
    Happy Monday
