Where's Our Breakfast?!

This was the scene when I arrived at the inn yesterday morning.

I have Hubster Dave and Son Jeff and retreater Tracy to thank for taking care of the kididdles while I was away...

Evidently they have been so well taken care of that they couldn't care less that I was there to resume feeder duty!

But bowls in hand, I walked to the garage door (cat food pantry) to take over said cat duties and Tula prmptly waddled over to make sure I was doing it right and not skimping on the kibble/wet food ratios.

Flash as always is several feet back watching from the safety of no man's land.

Still living by the at least 6 feet away rule, buddy?  Uhuh.

Now while looking at this photo I want you to notice that the porch is free of leaves and debris, as is the lawn and the walkway.

Son Jeff arrived early to blow everything off ahead of the Shippenstitchers arrivals.

And then this happened:

Well shoot!

Just give it up for now, son - mother nature can't be controlled!

All retreat preparations being made in good time, I even found myself with an hour to sit and stitch - but on what?

Still dealing with body clock issues, all I could manage was to sit down and feed triangle pairs through the machine.

I had cut these a couple of weeks ago, and then set them aside to force myself bacl to the X Plus blocks.

There will be much more pressing to happen next.

Here's the thing.  I love fall.  I love autumn colors - pumpkin harvest is in full swing over here.  We drove past a field where all of the pumpkins have been cut from the vines and were laying in rows waiting to be boxed up and driven to wherever pumpkins go.

Seeing trailers with loads of punkins driving down the road this time of the year brings me so much joy.

I'm also thinking about what happened one year ago tomorrow - how the floods came in the midst of Hurricane Helene and I almost lost Hubster Dave to a falling tree.

I feel like - if I can get past this anniversary and harvest goes well, and I throw myself into the joys of autumn - and yes, that means sewing with all of my lovely autumn colored scraps - the triggering feelings that keep coming to mind will be put to rest.

I want to play with rusts and tans and neutals...and I sitll havent decided if I'm accenting with blue or green, but I'm leaning toward green.

Bring on all of the pumpkin flavored and apple crispy things.

Mugs of hot tea with cinnamon.

I want comfort and cozyness - and the slowing down of the world around me.

But that won't happen today!  I'm embarking on a Sister's Choice workshop with the Shippenstitchers over the next few days.

Feel free to sew along with us if you want, the pattern is found under the Free Patterns tab.

Today we'll start in on the 9 patches - and this method is a bit different - because we are not making 2 separate strip sets for each one, as all of the 9 patches are DIFFERENT.

We aren't working from 9 individual squares to create each one either - this involves a 2-strip strip set plus one extra corner square.  Check it out - it's a fun one!

While in Zurich Switzerland we experienced a wonderful cooking class at Estia.

I thought you might want to see a bit of the fun we had:

Cooking classes are so great as an ice breaker!

And the food was so delicious that I forgot to include photos of the main dish - AND the dessert.  Oh well!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

This not only applies to quilting, but to everything else we face on a daily basis that seems too large, too hard, too complicated.

Take another look. Break it down. One step at a time!

String X pattern found under the Free Patterns tab.  My tutorial was inspired by antique quilts like this one above.

Okay, that's it for now.

Have a terrific Thursday, everyone -
