Last Minute Musings!

My last post before heading off to Switzerland!

I honestly didn't know if I'd have the opportunity to post this morning - but breakfast behind me (two cups of coffee in!) and the day ahead of me before I head back to the airport this afternoon and photos still on my phone from the last couple of day's with Susan's Retreat Group - I figured I could shoot out some more quilty love before going radio silent!

We took advantage of the gorgeous afternoon sunshine upon my return from Boone and the Verizon phone store and put just a few tops and quilts over the rail that were ready to be shown.

Not just one, but TWO Moonflower beauties are shown here!  One completed, quilted, bound - and the other reaching just big enough tos share in our impromptu over-the-porch-rail photo op.

TWO Old Town finishes in two different colorways!

And a glorious En Provence in the late afternoon sunshine!

Also loving how she included this Paris panel in the backing as memory of a trip she had been on previously.

You might not know what to do with a panel you love...but it can always work really well to send a message from the back of the quilt!

This finish, just in time for photographing on 9/11.  Lovely tribute!

We stopped by the retreat yesterday morning to feed the cats and check in on everyone.  I'm so torn leaving them, but I know they are in good hands.

Son Jeff was there to mow the lawn so he was introduced to everyone, and Huster Dave was with me making the rounds so everyone knows who their go-to-guy is over the next few days.

And the quilters were busy with new things!

Aren't these blocks cute?

Sunflare quilt!

Mooove on over!

Isn't she adorable?

The pattern is called Annabelle.

Terry finished her Quilt Crazie sampler!

This cute panel is getting a border of sawtooth stars. Adorable.

Something fun and pinwheely waiting for borders!

We took care of all the needed things and headed off to the airport.  At which time...my phone went back into "Let's not work" mode.

I am SO FRUSTRATED!

I thought we had the problem solved, the Verizon guy said the day before that the eSim would solve my problems, that it was likely a corrupted SIM card.

What I know:  The phone works for texts.  It works for phone calls.  It can not find the network for any kind if internet/app connectivity.

We pulled into the cell phone lot to try to connect me to Dave's hotspot.  NOTHING.

We powered down all the way, not just clicking restart.  We let it sit.

Then powered back on, and it seemed to be fine.

My flight from Atlanta to JFK.

Holy legroom batman!

But you know what?  Tbere was no extension cord to any headset to let me watch a movie on that way up there seat back screen.

It was me, hexies and an audio book all the way to JFK and honestly I was happy with that.

But upon landing in JFK and taking my phone off airplane mode?  I was back in no-connectivity zone again.

Luckily there was a couple who were already waiting for the Fairfield Inn shuttle when I arrived where the shuttle pick up is.

Once in my room, I completely powered off again and let the phnone sit while I walked up the street to the little Chinese place I'd been before.  Dinner without phone.  Isn't it crazy how our attention spans are so aggravated if we don't have something to listen to or something to read when we are dining alone?

Back to my room....I powered on the phone again and it did connect, but the speed test shows it is hardly getting anything.,

What this means.....If the phone goes kaflooey while on this trip, I may not be able to post photos to social media.  If I can't connect to the internet (It doesn't work with wifi either) I can't even upload my photos to Google Photos to be able to post by laptop.

Will this all happen? I don't know.

I should have just gotten a new phone at Verizon on Thursday - but I thought we had the problem solved.

There WILL be a new phone waiting for me when I get home - just hoping I can transfer all of the photos and videos over so that we can catch up when I get back.

We have become so integrated with these screen things!  Maybe this is the break I need to stay away from the news and everything that is going on.

I love you, USA...but I think I need a break from you.

I'm looking forward to sepending the next 10 days surrounded by quilters and quilty friends, doing quilt show things and soaking in everything Swiss, German, and French.

While I'm away:

To keep you busy while I'm away, I've put ALL PDF patterns in the Quiltville Store at 25% off through 9/21/25.

  6. Oh yes, these quilts – a dream.
Switzerland isn't that far from me.
    But Viginia is.
What a pity. I'd love to come to your villa and sew and snip with like-minded people.
    Best,
    Viola
