Life is crazy busy. Always.
I don't think things ever slow down that much - we just kind of take to our days somewhat on auto pilot and while going down the to do list of daily things we forget to take a look around and appreciate the beauty that is around us.
I had a moment yesterday - I showed up for my eye appointment a little bit early while the office was still closed for lunch break -
The office is away from the fray - partly up one mountainside on the north side of the valley, and I could see across to the other side - the tops of the mountains hiding within low hanging clouds.
I always love pockets of fog and low clouds. Give me some Brigadoon any day!
In due time the front door was unlocked and I was ushered inside to the appointment I'd been waiting 7 months to get into.
This office also has low vision specialists and that is why it took so long for me to get in. Small town, high specialties. But it was worth it.
I have never had an office spend so much time with me and my MacTel2 condition. They ran exams in different ways that other offices just didn't.
And as we adjusted things on the view finder thing above, my left eye being way worse than my right, things finally clicked into place with the "which is better, one or two?" thing and all at once - I could read the chart clearly with my left eye.
I started to cry. We had to stop and catch a moment and hand me a tissue and move on with the exam.
But that new adjustment to my prescription means that my left eye isn't just along for the ride anymore, it could SEE
In the waiting area while my eyes dilated.
This was a pleasant surprise! I couldn't read my phone anymore due to the dilating drops, but there are beautiful quilts on the walls!
I told you this office was worth the 7 month's wait!
The rest of my appointment went fine. Though my left eye at 20/70 qualifies for "low vision" specialist attention, the right one is holding at 20/50 and I should be okay to see the 'normal" optometrist as long as that holds.
We upped my bifocal to a +3 to increase my ability to see clearly when hand stitching/reading.
I'll be taking a trip to Costco on Monday to order up new glasses. I'm SO EXCITED!
And this happened -
The fabric covered old heated cat condo has been retired - after a few years and our humidity and much cat clawing the old canvas was shredded and had mildew..it was time for a new cat condo!
This one is wood. We are going to have Jeff come put a polyurethane coat on it so we can wipe it down.
Here the floor isn't in yet, and it also comes with an adjustable heated pad for winter warmth. The walls are also insulated.
I like that it has a second doorway to get to the heated room that will help with wind, etc.
Now if they will only explore enough to go inside and figure it out.
With all of that dilating...it took a while for me to be able to see clearly, but I was able to manage a few hexies last evening, making some more progress on this motif.
The TaDa Quilter are in the house - most of them had arrived before I left to come home for dinner and I'm looking forward to seeing them all this morning.
And this is where things are with me right now.
The eye appointment was just the best ever and I can't wait for new glasses and to be able to SEE!
(Sometimes little wins are big wins, and I appreciate this one.)
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Somehow I think neither of these are bound to happen!
But if I did win the lottery, there's a high possibility the first line would be definitely NOT be happening on a large scale!

Have a terrific Thursday, everyone!

Oh Bonnie I'm so happy for you! Glad you had a great eye appointment experience. I dread mine..
ReplyDeleteLove that you have a heated and insulated cat home. I can only imagine how cold it gets there on the mountain in the winter.
I used my Accuquilt go big to cut the large amount of squares for Bear Branch.... I have a very bad back. The layered tri's did me in.
I'll sew what I have cut...then cut some more.
Sometimes when I can't go back to sleep after waking up at 3:00 , I make coffee and enjoy the peace and quiet. Plan my day, etc.
Have a Sparkling day
Blessings 🙏❤️
Glad you got your eyes appointment with the Specialist. Beautiful view In the waiting room. My new glasses should be here in time for my 50th HS Reunion. Hurray, I'll still need Nametag on some of my HS Friends. Wait n see! Almost the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a good belly laugh this morning, Bonnie!! Loved your quote!! I have reached the point where I really don't need to ever buy another piece of fabric. I need to use up ALL the well organized pieces in my "scrap saver" system! As for the lottery, I leave that to DH😊 Your blog always makes me smile! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteSuch good news about the exam!
ReplyDeleteDid you include the hexie with the glasses on purpose for this post, or was it serendipity?
Carolyn
So happy that your vision appointment went so well! Thank you for sharing the beautiful moments in your life.
ReplyDeleteGood news about your eyes! I'm seeing double at the moment but after 4 eye surgeries I should improve. I hate when I can't sew what I want. You might try a pinch or two of catnip to draw the kitties into the shelter. It always worked for my cats.
ReplyDeleteWonderful news about your eye appointment.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie I can feel for you. Having just spent over a year dealing with multiple procedures to cure a rare cancer in my left eye has been an ordeal. Limited activity, limited out door time, and the worse, limited ability to sew. I lucked out to have a great eye team and I have come out the other side, with my eye starting to see better and better (except when trying to sew on black matte vinyl , what a trial!) I have another 6 months to go before I can reasonably expect a better prescription, but as for now I can sew, sew, sew !
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you, Bonnie! Congrats on your successful eye exam! :-) Have fun picking out new glasses. Your beautiful mountain pictures make me want to visit my Tennessee homeland (I live in flat Kansas).
ReplyDeleteLove the new heated cat condo! What lucky kitties. I bet they'll check it out immediately and they'll love it when it gets cold outside.
Your Quote of the Day made me giggle. I'm trying so hard to use up fabrics in my stash and only buy when I need something to complete a project, but it's hard because new pretty fabrics keep teasing and tempting me.
Happy Thursday, Jenny
Following your eye woes, along with my own. So happy you found progress. I am sewing today after a .Tuesday injection to slow bleeding in one eye. Laser in 2 weeks in the meantime your report gives me hope. Thank you for sharing! Johanne
ReplyDeleteI’m so excited about your good news for your eyes.
ReplyDeleteDear Bonnie, my heart was so deeply touched at the news of the wonderful eye care you received and your response to it. You had a very long wait for the appointment, and it was well worth it. I'm so, so glad you will be able to see better! Regards, Kathy
ReplyDeleteI am so thankful that your eye appointment yielded a wonderful solution for your vision improvement! I laughed aloud at the quotation today! 💗
ReplyDeleteI am so glad your optometry appointment yielded a solution for a prescription that will improve your vision! I laughed aloud at today’s quotation!
ReplyDeleteIt is the week for eye exams and procedures. Isn't it wonderful when the hitch hiking eye decides to join the work force? How did I ever sew like that?
ReplyDeleteBonnie best news ever about your eyesight. One of my biggest fears is my eyesight. Take care and continue to enjoy life.
ReplyDeleteSo very glad you found a specialist. Did you make appointment for your next checkup while you were there. Specialists are so very hard to get in to see.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful feeling -- to SEE!!! Enjoy your new glasses.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, Glad you got good news at your eye exam. I know how worrisome eye issues can be. I have lost peripheral vision and can never get what is lost back, but my eye specialist has stabilized my eyes. So I can appreciate your being gratefully for the eye specialist, and waiting 7 months. Thank goodness s/he was able to help you see in your left eye again.
ReplyDeleteTrying putting a little food in the cat condo at meal time to help them find it.
Loved your comment about not enough curse words.
I`m so happy for you and your eye appointment! We need to keep quilting, we still have so much fabric and new patterns to sew,
ReplyDeleteTula and Flash are so fortunate to have you care for them.
Oh Bonnie, this is a major win! I'm so happy for you!! God is great! Lovely quilts on the wall in the office. I'm sure it won't take long before the kitties find the new home & appreciate it. I just loved the quote of the day... I thought the point of winning the lottery was to buy more fabric with the winnings!!🤣🤣
ReplyDeleteHave a good evening & happy stitching!!
I am so happy to hear your exam went so well! God bless you!
ReplyDeleteSuch good news about your eyes. We take it for granted until it gets bad. I’m so glad the right people are available.
ReplyDeleteSend in your CraftOptics along with the new proscription and we’ll update it for you! It will be a huge difference!
