Big & Blue!

Look what came together!

Isn't it funny how distraction comes and takes over?

I had started in on those dang blocks with so many flying geese...only to throw that one over and dive in here.

And it isn't that the flying geese aren't hard (okay, a bit tedious) but my mind just wasn't on it.

I suppose I could call this quilt 'Just Say No!"

There are so many things going on in the world right now that I just say NO to.

I think the "No!" fabric was one that was gifted as a challenge betting I couldn't cut it small enough and still use it.  It's perfect here.

A name will come, I am sure - and this will likely be a Januuary PDF pattern release.

A backing needs to be pieced - but that will come later because I've got other interruptions....erm....most welcome distractions happening in the QPO studio!

The current state of things at the back side of my long arm.

These stacked drawers have held my Scrap User's System for more than 20 years.

Drawers are becoming a bit warped, harder to open, and the frames are even getting brittle and cracked.

It's time for a redo-updo!

These arrived!

(On sale at Walmart)

I looked all over for cubbies that were DEEP - and these are the deepest/widest I've found at 13X13X15.

My current drawers may be 18'' deep, but they are definitely not this tall and drawers are crammed.

These units stand 30'' tall.  I have space for 33'' high under the table side of the longarm.

The unit is 57'' long.  I have length for 2 of them under my 14' table with room to spare.

It's time to make better use of this space!

These are the bins I'm going with. There are 16 cubbies, but I've only ordered 12 bins to see how I like them. I'll get more as needed.

Ive added them to the Organize Me category of the Quiltville Amazon Affiliate Store.

I'm also planning to continue this redo-updo and move my drawers of Scrap User's System squares in their smaller 3 drawer carts to under the cutting table where it will be easier for me to add to them as I work with fabrics and leavings.

I'm so super excited.  I'll post how things are going.

I just know that something has to happen.

And the bins of stuff?  I know this is going to start an avalanch of going through everything and I am okay with that.

When I moved the Studio up from Winston Salem everything was in a "rush rush rush just get it in here and make it workable kind of frenzy."

Now I can make it better.

And there is that new computer still to install....there is a lot going on.

Check out this gorgeous Fireweed finish!

Great job Kathy!

Abbeygate in Green by  Dnielle!

Both of these lovely finishes were shared in our Quiltville’s Open Studio group on Facebook.

So the plan - Son Jeff is coming this morning to help me assemble the cubbies.

Finishing details are happening at the inn as Housekeeper Susan works her magic.

I've still got towel baskets to fold and we've got beds to make and a porch to spruce up - The Stich Mob is on their way from Missouri and Beyond - so let's get this day started!

I am so thrilled with the response to the Abundance pattern release!

I can't wait to see these blocks popping up as you share what you are making.

You will enjoy the cubbies, Bonnie! I have 3 of the IKEA version of them in my sewing room along with tall shelves. You'll be able to squish a LOT in each fabric bin! And I made labels for each, which I attached with poster putty, so I could keep track of what's where. Have fun organizing. Can't wait to see what inspiration comes from it!!

  2. Your Scraps are going to be very happy in their new home!! Can't wait to see it.
Speaking of redos I had to redo my recipe box. It was a must. I Put everything on index color cards ..no more scraps of papers or printed recipes.... everything makes sense now.
I'm still sewing Qsts units...taking my time with those.
Your strings quilt is very pretty.
    No! Is so funny!
    Have a wonderful day 🌹

I saw a video on Google titled "10 mistakes quilters make" and thought 'If you think I'm looking at that, you are nuts!' Who needs that vibe? Ellen Thompson

  4. I get it. My drawers collapsed when I moved them last year when I got my new longarm. I had been trying to sort scraps by color like yours. Plastic just doesn't last like it used to. My hubby got me one with cloth drawers. But it is bulky and black. Looks ugly to me. It's out of sight holding some Kits and projects for my Embroidery. Machine.Good luck with new Computer set up. Mine keeps asking to update to windows 11. I resist.i need to upgradet yhe printer too. Ink is so speedy. Gotta be ready for printing the next Mystery.

Support for Windows 10 ends this October. My old laptop couldn't be updated, so I needed a new one.

I just bought one of those cubicle units at a yard sale and I’m using it for towel storage outside the bathroom door. Once the bathroom is completed it may go back to my sewing room, which is where I intended to put it in the first place. I know the feeling of having to move things in a rush to be sorted later. I also use IKEA cubbies. 4x4 so I have 12 cubbies and 4 sets of 2 drawer inserts for smaller items or current projects. They are solid. And the cat claimed one cubby for her! CG
