We've owned our little cabin on the mountain for 8 years now.
I'm not sure how that is possible - but there it is. 8 years.
One of the things I wanted to do from the time we first saw the place was to change the color of the white stucco of the bottom level. It just always looked too stark, and just not right -
But in all honesty it was so far down the to-do list that it just didn't seem important.
You can see the difference in the garage door wall (original) and the first coat of "Koala" (Yes that's the color! And apropos after my recent trip to Australia.) on the main wall.
One coat done - waiting for the second.
It's been a process which also required the chipping back of the old stucco from where it was pulling away from the cinderblock base.
Then new stucco had to be applied and it had to dry - and we've had so much rain.
Finally - we are able to get this done.
Second coat on.
Hahahaha! I see Lola in the window - there is also a treadle in the window with a mini quilt on the breadbox style cover.
This color looks warmer and more in keeping with the nature around us -and it doesn't stand out so much against the stone walkway.
My thanks go to son Jeff who has been so helpful over the past month since Dave's hand surgery - he is still in a cast, but that should come off in another couple of weeks and then physical therapy can begin.
I barely took a break from my big desk before it was time for me to head out.
I'm drawing for the lucky winner of BOTH Summit St. Boxes and the Fabric Floozy tee from my friend Jordan at Summit St Shop!
We had 4904 entries! Whoowhooo!! *drum roll please!*
But LOOK!!
One glance at the side yard at the inn showed me that the apple trees are very much in bloom! I'm so excited. The bees are happy too.
And since it is Wednesday, guess what time it is?
Entry 1033 is:

They spent a year and a half renovating a historic church building into a storefront open to the public..
Summit St Shop carries quilting fabric, of course - but also decor, gifts and more!
And yes, you can order online and there is free shipping on orders over $75.00 within the USA.
Thanks, everyone - for participating, and thanks to Summit St. Shop for offering this Gift-Away!
Today? Well, so many of my yearly appointments have been scheduled for this week because I don't have a retreat group staying over Easter.
Today it's bloodwork and a pap. Ugh. But better to be on top of things.
Tomorrow afternoon it's a annual visit with my retinal specialist about my macular issues. That's also an UGH because they dilate my eyes and I hate that. However, I need to be on top of that so I can be sure that I can still see to quilt - so.....we just do all the things we have to do, right?
I likely won't be doing anything but evening sewing until Friday - and that pattern needs to be uploaded and ready to go by the time I leave for the eye doc tomorrow or I won't be able to see a computer screen.
Isn't aging just a wonderful process?
Some lifelong habits are just too hard to break.
Keep it up and let it bother everyone else!
Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone -

Yep, keep your eyes in the best care. I have drops i use nightly. Last appointment I was told I might need morning drops too. Every 6 months for me. 2 spaces, lol. I can relate. Be careful in your Travels. Good work, Jeff!
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I admire all you do and wish you were closer to the west coast so I could join a retreat. But as for aging, it is better than the alternative and I, at 23 years your senior, will take all the years I am given and then some. I hope all your appointments go well for you.
ReplyDeleteLove your quote of the day. Punctuation and proper grammar have always been a pet peeve of mine. I have often thought I’d be good at editing. Fran in Pa (soon to be: Fran in Washington State)
ReplyDeleteMy keyboard punctuation skills reflect yours. And so does the quilty meme attitude! Smiling
ReplyDeleteSuch a helpful son you have! Koala looks good. As to your quilt saying, I guess I got caught on this early and use both the double spaces and the Oxford comma (although I had to look that one up!). Plus, my phone adds the extra space and puts in the period, so that works for me.
ReplyDeleteYea for the diehards vs the autocorrect ! !
ReplyDeleteI am so on with this! Yes 2 spaces and the oxford comma! But then I earned money in college years ago in college by typing people's papers on a typewriter.
ReplyDeleteLove the new color on the building. Love the dogwood daze pattern, can't wait for the gift-away!
Brings to mind a very enjoyable book: Eats, Shoots & Leaves:. The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation by Lynn Truss.
DeleteLove that book!!!!
DeleteI am so in tune with the 2 spaces and Oxford Comma. I earned money in college (years ago) by typing people's papers on a typewriter. Love the new color on the building. Can't wait for the Dogwood Daze pattern and the gift away!
ReplyDeleteUse of the possessive case before a gerund is my hill. "My dying" on that hill. Or it could be the "Bonnie and I" vs. "Bonnie and me" hill. I think grammar has gone out the school window lately. May my English teacher RIP. I've no doubt she was buried with her Oxford shoes, reading glasses, and red pen.
ReplyDeleteConsidering lawsuits have been won & lost over Oxford commas, I'll definitely support that one. Two spaces between sentences are ingrained in my keyboarding skills, pathetic as they are. And grammar - I know I've forgotten rules (like who vs. whom) - so many hours in grade school with Mrs McConoghy (sp?) diagramming sentences, shaking in my shoes when she asked me to bring my work up to be checked. She didn't do her critiques, good or bad, quietly!
ReplyDeleteGrammar still matters to attorneys! I still remember the days when you had to push the return across the manual typewriter. Getting an electric typewriter was heavenly! Bridget
ReplyDeleteThank you ever so much for the picture of the dogwoods in bloom! I grew up in the D.C. area and remember these with such fondness! We don't have dogwoods here in Idaho! Glad to see you making these changes in your cabin. It's hard to wait this long!
ReplyDeleteJust had my second cataract surgery today so I'll be able to sew again....just remember the alternative to aging isn't so great!!! Hang in there, be proactive and take good care of yourself!! Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to get a fresh coat of paint. It's looking great! I love working with the kids and teaching them about that punctuation stuff... In fact, I have a shirt that says, " Capital letters and periods, bruh!" HAHA!!
ReplyDeleteI hate it when appointments take away my time with the piecing time! But, we have to do what we need to to make it last as long as possible! Hopefully you'll get time to sew tomorrow!
I absolutely love your correct grammar. I may have to look up spelling but sure appreciate yours and good grammar. I also how kind and thought your blog. I read you nearly every day.
