Racing To Beat The Rain!

The really bad rainy day was supposed to come on Sunday.

We were okay with that - we were resting from the hike up to the ponies on Saturday, and there would be time to finish quilt tops for hanging over the porch rail on Monday - what could go awry?

Sunday turned out to be "Not that bad" with just a few quick showers here and there but all in all it was better than expected.  Or predicted.  Or forecast.

And then - all of that bad weather shifted to Monday afternoon, and we found ourselves scrambling to beat the rain and wind!

Action shots!  They are all action shots in the breeze!

I love how the Old Town blocks are held together with pins so we could put them over the rail.  That was a lot of work through the retreat week and deserved to be shown!

Three wonderful tops waiting for quilting -

All retreat finishes!

Bricks & Stepping Stones from the Free Patterns tab sewn at retreat next to a finished Oopsie Daisie (also from the Free Patterns tab) So fun!

The top at the left was completely made during retreat - and shown with a Straits of Mackinac from String Frenzy

Fourth of July (Free Patterns tab) followed by Good Fortune and a lovely Old Town finish! Great job, ladies!

Only a few drops fell while taking this photo!

As for Tula Tallulah Lou, she knew to keep herself out of the rain and dry and cozy on a quilt on the front porch.

Thanks for an awesome week, ladies!

As they all check out this morning, you know what my day will be?

12 loads of laundry and making the inn shine for the arrival of The Quilt District!

And some of this - Click to Play:

Once the thread breakage issue was solved, it was smooth sailing!

It's coming along!

Perhaps by tonight I'll have that binding appliked (In between flipping loads of laundry) and will be feet up and stitching down binding in my comfy spot.

What's up for your Tuesday?

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Lift that quilt! Pump that iron!

Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone!

  1. You sure get a lot done, using up every minute. You make me tired sometimes 😴. I have a lap size log cabin quilt that I take along to my hubs many Dr appts, I'm doing Baptist Fan hand quilting design. It is good to have a project. I love having the binding on the quilt to travel, so much more practical.

  4. What a sweet picture of Tula! Every time I say "Tula Tallulah Lou" I start humming the Irish lullaby (toora, loora, loora.......). :-)
Bonnie, I first met you in 2010 at a Starstruck class you presented at our guild. Ever since then I have followed your blog and admired your endless energy, enthusiasm, and generosity for sharing your love of quilting with others.

But I'd also like to express my admiration for your caring kindness to animals. As a long-time shelter volunteer it warms my heart to see the examples of patience you have shown with your pets. Your rescue dogs and homeless cats have been so lucky to find you and choose to join your family. You respect their boundaries, give them time to acclimate, and accommodate their needs for a private safe place. So many adopters give up after a week and return pets that "didn't get along" with their other animals. Being the "new kid in class" is never easy for anyone. Thank you for giving all of your furry "kids" the time, patience, and love to feel that they are finally home.

Jackie B, you said it all! Bonnie and Dave are truly dedicated fur baby parents. Our animal shelter is currently housing over 300 dogs in a 180 capacity shelter. Sadly the commitment to forever fur babies is lacking severely here in Central Valley, Ca. Many blame the population on the exorbitant costs of spray/neuter $500/$900. Animals depend on us, there needs to be some compromise on cost and commitment. Wish they all had parents like Bonnie and Dave!

Well said Jackie B. I also admire Bonnie and her husband for their compassion towards animals.
I enjoy the photos and comments about their pets as much as I enjoy the quilting! Thank you Bonnie and family.

  7. What a fabulous post today! So much inspiration, as always! I'm loving the action shots! I wondered if Tula had a quilt of her own?! :-)
With the ending of Abundance coming up soon, one wonders what you have next up your sleeve! We are back to school this week, STAAR testing starts today. (State mandated test.) Here's hoping the rest of the week goes fast & smooth! :-) Happy quilting!
