Just a Bear...on a Trailer...

I was sitting at my sewing machine yesterday afternoon when I heard a vehicle pull to an abrupt stop in front of the QPO (Quiltville Post Office) Studio.

It's not often that I see a big bear carving laying on a trailer being pulled behind a big van.

Were they trying to get their GPS to work? Did they not know where they were going?

Inquiring minds want to know - I didn't have THIS on my bingo card, but it's never a dull moment.

The last of the design wall projects from The Quilt District retreat!

I've always been amazed by the patterns you get from any kind of Stack 'n Whack project - this time these blocks were made by cutting quarter-square triangles in repeats of 4 and stitching them into hourglass units.  SO interesting!

This corner has a scrap/crumb project in progress using only solids. Totally improv.  Neat!

This pretty lozenge quilt reminds me of our own Lozenge Leader & Ender challenge found on the Free Patterns tab but goes bigger and has the skinniest of sashings to there is no point matching that needs to happen.

The eggplant solid as background is just gorgeous.  I love the unexpected!

Tara's house medallion in progress -

This is going to be so cool!

Crumb star finish!  Did you see it going this way?

The pattern is by Jamie Swanson and is called Luminary.

Close up of piecing.  So fun!

Yes, I am even more inspired to put all of my saved bits and scraps to good use!

One last finish!

Pam's economy blocks with 4 patch centers have been sewn together into this fabulous top.

Sometimes the repeat of simple time-honored blocks takes my breath away - look at the coloring of how  the outer triangles of the blocks go from the lightest of yellows in the upper right to the darkest of purples in the bottom left.

This girl has amazing color sense and knows how to work with it.  Beautiful last day finish!

And now - for that quilt turning!

Several of my own photos didn't turn out too great - there was a lot of light coming from the windows behind me and the ceiling light above - but I'm so happy that Tara did an in-depth video on her YouTube channel!

This is my favorite part of our Quilt District retreats - the sharing.

Such a fabulous group of wonderful women!

I learn so much from them when we have the opportunity to talk about the quilts - the why's and the how's and the stories behind them.

See you next year, ladies!

I'm taking a Craftours group on an adventure through Germany and Switzerland ending up at the big quilt show in Alsace, France at the same time that Tara is teaching there.  We are making plans for a big meet up.

Carrefour tickets for the show in Alsace will be live in a few days. Link HERE.

You can sign up for Tara's FREE 'Modern Before Modern' lecture if you are attending the show in Alsace.

Find out more about our Craftours Tour HERE.  I'd love to have you join us! I've also added a tab for this tour to the top of the blog.  You can also click the All My Tours tab to see where we will be heading in the future.

Just yesterday, on the hillside off the back porch.

Daffodils and the standing remains of a vacant woolen mill.

Everyone was gone by 10am and I spent the day tackling the laundry and doing all of the things that would give me more time off this week to enjoy the time off that I have - other than the fact that I have 3 doctor appointments this week spread out between Wednesday and Thursday.

That means that today is the big push to get the pattern finished for Dogwood Daze to release on Friday.  If I need more time, I'll push it to Saturday, but I am really shooting for Friday.  So here's to things going well today.

And this brings us back to where I was sitting and what I was doing when that bear-on-a-trailer pulled up in front of the QPO Studio and made me smile.

What weird and wonderful things will happen today?

The famous quote from Ferris Bueller in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is: "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

I will be drawing for ONE lucky winner who will receive BOTH of these adorable Summit St. Boxes AND the Fabric Floozy Tee!

Get your entry in on that post and we'll be drawing for our winner TOMORROW 4/16/25.

    Thanks
