It didn't seem possible that we would actually see this kind of winter weather overnight - all yesterday it was cool but sunny!
We headed out with friends for pizza last night - the full moon was out and the skies were *mostly* clear. There was no wind.
But somewhere in the wee small hours I woke enough to hear little icy crystals hitting against my bedroom windows.
We got somewhere between 2" and 3" and it's sitting at 28 f degrees. For my non-USA readers, that -2.222 celsius. Trust me, it's yucky.
Sigh. This driveway.
We parked Hubster Dave's truck down at the bottom last night and he is currently sweeping snow off the tractor and getting ready to plow the drive.
I fed Tula and Flash extra dry food last evening before I left - in case we wouldn't be able to get over there right away to feed them this morning. They'll be fine.
With all of the departing happening yesterday, and Housekeeper Susan coming a day early to clean to avoid today at all costs - my day didn't include much sewing.
Instead I tackled all of the retreat laundry - recovered the pressing stations with new layers of freezer paper, cleaned out the fridge and took care of deskwork.
I tried to cram all of Tuesday into Monday so that we were as ready as we could be for this.
I made two more of these.
They are so super cute and are filling all of my needs right now.
It's a Sew Down Show Down and I love sewing all of the smallest saved scraps away into something wonderful.
It's a long term project with no determined layout yet. I'm just sewing. That's what matters.
It will become something when I have enough blocks to do something with.
However - this project is at the QPO Studio - I didn't bring it home with me, so I'll have to dig into something else for this Snow Day Sew Day.
*I drew up this log cabin template. The pattern and template will be made available for purchase after I finish the quilt. Thank you*
Lola says "How about you pay some attention to this?!"
Okay. I'll be putting more of the aqua string quilt together today. It's here. It's up to block status. I'll dig in.
And there is always this.
This is Ivy...burrowing into the quilt as I hand quilt the next section in my hoop. She nestles between my knees and tucks her head in. It's the cutest thing.
But what to do when it's time to move the hoop to the next section?
Stink Eye. That's what!
This arrived yesterday!

Boy, do I recognize the stink eye! When I go to cut out a project, my Maggie May likes to lay in the middle of the fabric on the table. When it's time to adjust the fabric to cut more, out comes the stink eye and occasionally, the paw.
ReplyDeleteThe weather forecast is for up to 6 inches of that white stuff tomorrow, just in time for rush hour. Me, I'm hoping for no power outage, so I can keep sewing.
Happy birthday to your daddy.
LOL! I love the pics of your kitties, especially Ivy. I really had a good laugh at her with her head buried and then....the stink eye! I do get that from my little dog Zoe when she wants to sit on my chest right under my chin and I am trying to encourage her to sit on my lap. I then get the stink eye and most of the time she figures she's punishing me by jumping down completely off my lap. A minute later she's up on the loveseat next to my recliner with an eye that says, "See, this is what you're missing out on." Then she just keeps narrowed eyes on me as I pick up my hexie project. Thanks again for the help on joining sections together!
ReplyDeleteI will take snow or rain at this point, in So. Utah and desperately need moisture!! Sandy T
ReplyDeleteStay warm. We have sub zero temps and wind chill feels like -1 today. I have my Quilt Guild tonight. Brrrr! Happy Birthday to your Dad!
ReplyDeleteTime for an AZ trip.
We'll have a similar look out of our windows tomorrow. We're predicted to get 5-8" tonight/tomorrow. So it'll be a snow day--sew day for me IF my jury duty gets cancelled. Love your log cabin blocks. You should be close to 25 blocks by now I think. Do you have an FPP pattern for sale in your shop for these blocks? I didn't see one but I'd love to use up my small scraps like this. Be safe in the snow, Jenny
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Bonnie's dad!!!!
