Well, This Is Fun - NOT!

It didn't seem possible that we would actually see this kind of winter weather overnight - all yesterday it was cool but sunny!

We headed out with friends for pizza last night - the full moon was out and the skies were *mostly* clear.  There was no wind.

But somewhere in the wee small hours I woke enough to hear little icy crystals hitting against my bedroom windows.

This is my morning view from my studio door as I padded downstairs to type this morning's post.

We got somewhere between 2" and 3" and it's sitting at 28 f degrees. For my non-USA readers, that -2.222 celsius.  Trust me, it's yucky.

Sigh.  This driveway.

We parked Hubster Dave's truck down at the bottom last night and he is currently sweeping snow off the tractor and getting ready to plow the drive.

I fed Tula and Flash extra dry food last evening before I left - in case we wouldn't be able to get over there right away to feed them this morning.  They'll be fine.

With all of the departing happening yesterday, and Housekeeper Susan coming a day early to clean to avoid today at all costs - my day didn't include much sewing.

Instead I tackled all of the retreat laundry - recovered the pressing stations with new layers of freezer paper, cleaned out the fridge and took care of deskwork.

I tried to cram all of Tuesday into Monday so that we were as ready as we could be for this.

More snow and rain is expected all day and I just slammed down my phone weather app in disgust.

I made two more of these.

They are so super cute and are filling all of my needs right now.

It's a Sew Down Show Down and I love sewing all of the smallest saved scraps away into something wonderful.

It's a long term project with no determined layout yet.  I'm just sewing.  That's what matters.

It will become something when I have enough blocks to do something with.

However - this project is at the QPO Studio - I didn't bring it home with me, so I'll have to dig into something else for this Snow Day Sew Day.

*I drew up this log cabin template.  The pattern and template will be made available for purchase after I finish the quilt.  Thank you*

Lola says "How about you pay some attention to this?!"

Okay.  I'll be putting more of the aqua string quilt together today.  It's here.  It's up to block status.  I'll dig in.

And there is always this.

This is Ivy...burrowing into the quilt as I hand quilt the next section in my hoop. She nestles between my knees and tucks her head in.  It's the cutest thing.

But what to do when it's time to move the hoop to the next section?

Stink Eye.  That's what!

This arrived yesterday!

Have you purchased your Old Town merch yet? I love this 15oz mug -

Forest Jane has added items to the Old Town category of Forest Jane's Quiltville Zazzle Store! Proceeds from Zazzle Store purchases to toward supplies for the free sewing and crafting workshops Jane presents at her local library.  It's good people helping good people.

"Thanks to Quiltville individuals and my guild in Memphis, I don’t have to worry about fabric for any of the classes. I appreciate anyone who’s mailed yarn or fabric!"

"Having a small fund to draw on from the mystery items means I can provide the “cool stuff” that makes the projects look professional, like colored snaps, zippers, lanyard hardware, key rings, interfacing, etc."

You can also reach Jane by email HERE.

With each purchase you make, you are helping a little girl make her first Kleenex cover, or a mom and daughter learn to make microwave bowls, or some gentlemen make key chains.

At no cost to them.  And the blessings are without measure in return.

SO please, grab your Quiltville Old Town goodies and know that you are doing something GOOD by sharing the love of creativity with others.

This happened - did you see it?

If you haven't started your Old Town yet - did you enter?

This time I even included the paint chips in the pattern. It's ALL in there, even the printable paper piecing templates for the square-in-a-square star block centers, and the small flying geese for the pieced sashings.

And YES - there is introductory pricing for those who have been waiting to start their own Old Town when it was released in pattern format.

The price is already marked 25% off and is good through 2/17/25 at 11:30pm Eastern time. No coupon needed.

International customers:  Please DO NOT USE THE BUY NOW BUTTON. It uses autofill to put in your mailing address. This causes a problem with international folks as I do not ship physical items internationally.

Instead - place the pattern in your shopping cart, and go to the cart directly to choose your payment option (Which does not use autofill) Things should work fine for you this way. You do not need a physical mailing address to receive a PDF file. Just your email.

You can also enter the Gift-Away on THAT POST.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

It's one of the wonders of the universe.

But so true!

I'm also wishing my daddy a very happy 85th birthday today.

Have a terrific Tuesday, everyone -

Boy, do I recognize the stink eye! When I go to cut out a project, my Maggie May likes to lay in the middle of the fabric on the table. When it's time to adjust the fabric to cut more, out comes the stink eye and occasionally, the paw.
The weather forecast is for up to 6 inches of that white stuff tomorrow, just in time for rush hour. Me, I'm hoping for no power outage, so I can keep sewing.
    Happy birthday to your daddy.

  2. LOL! I love the pics of your kitties, especially Ivy. I really had a good laugh at her with her head buried and then....the stink eye! I do get that from my little dog Zoe when she wants to sit on my chest right under my chin and I am trying to encourage her to sit on my lap. I then get the stink eye and most of the time she figures she's punishing me by jumping down completely off my lap. A minute later she's up on the loveseat next to my recliner with an eye that says, "See, this is what you're missing out on." Then she just keeps narrowed eyes on me as I pick up my hexie project. Thanks again for the help on joining sections together!

  5. We'll have a similar look out of our windows tomorrow. We're predicted to get 5-8" tonight/tomorrow. So it'll be a snow day--sew day for me IF my jury duty gets cancelled. Love your log cabin blocks. You should be close to 25 blocks by now I think. Do you have an FPP pattern for sale in your shop for these blocks? I didn't see one but I'd love to use up my small scraps like this. Be safe in the snow, Jenny
