What do Ghost Barns have to do with September Quiltvillians?
Nothing really - but when friend Martha asked if I'd like to take some time yesterday morning to run some errands, I quickly said yes.
When you live this far out, having someone to ride along with makes the long journey not only fun, but a car-pool shared is half the gas, right?
Truth is, there is only ONE Ghost Barn in this post, and this is it.
How much longer will it stand? I have no idea. I'm afraid that one more big storm will have it on the ground only to be seen the next time we take this round about way to get to where we are going.
What is that saying about trees in the forest? Can it be applied to barns?
As in "If a barn falls and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?"
It gives us a lot to think about when we are stuck poking along for miles in yet another Appalachian Traffic Jam. Two tractors on the highway. It simply means to slow down and enjoy the scenery. What's the hurry anyway?
The hurry is - there are September Quiltvillians quilting up a storm and I want to get there and pay too!

Hourglass medallion was our Leader & Ender challenge from a few years back, worked in rainbow rounds and it turned out so pretty!
And yes, with the onset of September, some switching out of the quilts has happened -
I've hung my hand quilted string star on the wall, and placed Appalachian Autumn on the entry table.

Old Barns along the Way attract my eye too. I loved the Covered Barns in Winterset, Iowa. Thanks for sharing. Martha is a true friend. Glad she lives close enough to hang out and go on impromptu road trips. She knows her way around those Hills. Love the Hourglass in rainbows. I'm holding on the last bits of Summer. ReplyDeleteYour barn triggered a family memory- my dad was really into old barns and the stuff they had in them. We had a cabin in northern Michigan and used to travel the roads to find old abandoned barns. The things weren't true "antiques" but they often came home with us. He's been gone for 5 years. Thanks.
