Pay no attention to the lady with the big black boot -
Instead, feast your eyes on Chris's beautiful Easy Street quilt from MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders with borders nearly completed!
Yesterday was my big outing day - I was driven to the QPO and parked closed to the back door so I could use my crutches to hobble inside and plant myself in my recliner where all of the quilters came to say hello.
We had a good long visit while The Hubster headed out to Lowes and the grocery store to get what supplies we need for the next week or so.
An impromptu show and share, coming to me!
(And Zoey had to be front and center. LOL!)
Betsy's Moth in the Window from the Addicted to Scraps book is gorgeous in these summer colors.
Loads of visiting behind the scenes!
I met new faces who weren't here last year - check out this gorgeous tumbler coming together!
My "H" block quilt love went into hyperdrive!
Speaking of H's -
Check out this goodie gift box made out of an old sewing machine drawer - hand painted by one of our retreaters. I LOVE IT!!
Thank you ladies, it was a joy to spend time with you yesterday.
Later in the evening these photos filtered in by text. Chris got her borders finished on Easy Street! Well done!
Another Moth in the Window in progress - blocks looking great!
Check out these gorgeous circles!
I love the many ways Drunkard's Path blocks can be set - and this is looking fabulous.
I spy a biggie sized Winter Blues in plum and green!
Simply Triangles - Magnificent!
Now THIS is going to be a real show stopper!
I have zero knowledge on designs that are not mine, so if anyone knows, please leave designer and pattern names in the comments section below. Thank you!
Things I am grateful for.
The new shower head is being installed and I'll get a REAL shower today thanks to the loan of Chris's shower chair. Can't wait!
Amazon also brought the Even Up for my good foot so my legs will be the same length between boot leg and good leg. That's going to be a help as soon as I can be weight bearing - one more week to go.
The waterproof cover is going to be much better than working with a bread bag to keep my foot/ankle dry during shower time.
These are all things I would have never thought to be grateful for before this accident a week ago.
**Singing** BORN TO BE WWWWIIIILLLLDDD..."
Woke up from my nap to find The Hubster had assembled my new best friend knee scooter!
I'm nicknaming her (yes, her!) JAZZ!
Chris also brought me a couple of walkers which will be great to put on different levels as soon as I am able to handle stairs.
In the mean time - I caught up on this.
Because it is THAT important,
And there was much of this while watching Bosch last evening.
I'm not going to lie - there has been much napping - and I feel like the days are wasting away while I do little to nothing.
This is not like me at all!
The simplest tasks take so much effort - and I keep thinking of those who are permanently disabled and what a struggle it must be to get from bed to wheelchair or from chair to bathroom or shower, or to get mobile to go anywhere.
Do not take this for granted!
Also - just the gift of having someone here with me to help. I don't live alone. I don't know how I could do this if I did.
I am surrounded by family, friends, community, quilters -
And I hope to be aware in the future of others who may need the same.

What a gorgeous post today, thank you. Every time I see Moth in the Window I want to make it again, the quilts, even pieces, are stunning. { I just finished Louise Penny's latest "Gamache," left me in tears, smiles and goosebumps.} I admire all the committee people, especially Adam Kinsinger, and the brave people willing to come forward.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are doing better! I believe that pattern is Imagine by Jacqueline De Jonge.
ReplyDeleteHope that you heal quickly and have no more accidents in the time to come. Thankful that you are well cared for. Like you I know those who have no one to care for them, my 88 year old brother for one. I help when I can but at 72 I am not as much help as he needs.
ReplyDeleteBonnie, it's so good to see that you're mending! It's painful even to imagine what you've been through. Best wishes for quick healing, my friend!
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to interact with the girls today and see their work.. Keep taking it easy... the sooner you will heal..kisses for Mable and Zoey please.
ReplyDelete"The simplest tasks take so much effort", which is why your body needs all those naps.
ReplyDeleteI'm in week #7 of living in the slow lane while broken bone in my right foot heals. Weight-bearing for 2 weeks now, I still use crutches when I have to do alot of walking. I certainly appreciate the electric carts available in larger grocery stores. Make way people; here comes Linda. Whee!
I noticed you've added padding to the top of your crutches. Are your "pits" still tender? If so, maybe your crutches weren't sized correctly; I know mine weren't. After consulting several websites, I adjusted both the overall height and position of hand grips until they are as comfortable as possible, for me.
welcome to the convalescent aids group! my closet is half full of them...you are so blessed you have someone around to help...it was difficult recuperating all by myself....
ReplyDelete<living alone and using a walker I have to pay close attention to where I'm going. I have learned to enjoy being by myself. I grew up in a large family always someone around being interrupted when I wanted to just be alone. Now I do miss the noise and family sometimes but I do get out do things often enough that I'm not mouldering on the discard pile. Please take care of yourself Bonnie. Tell your husband thank you for me, to take you where you want to go
ReplyDeleteThe Even Up makes a huge difference. I didn't have one for a while when I was in a boot, and my hip hurt like crazy because of it. When you get past this episode, if you have the space, keep all these little helpers. We're all literally one false step from needing them.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to see your recent quilt visitors with their show & share - so nice not to be forgotten. Also being looked after by hubby is a blessing - hopefully you'll be 'back on your feet' soon and things getting back to normal. Best wishes on your recovery from England :)
ReplyDeleteGetting around on one leg is one of the most challenging things. I have had 4 knee surgeries and am finally old enough to get the much coveted knee replacement. Just waiting for that call, and it is taking a while (Canada has some serious health care system issues at the moment) but it will come. In the meantime I am doing my pre-hab so I have a better and shorter recovery. But of course I have the luxury of preparation, something you didn't have.
ReplyDeleteThe fatigue is most likely your body using most of its resources to heal your injury. I hope that slowly but surely, that fatigue will resolve itself. In the meantime, please listen to your body as it knows best what is needed.
Sending you much love and hugs! And prayers for a speedy recovery.
