Dog Ears & Dog Days -

Some days it is just all I can do to manage a simple task!

On the agenda - pressing and removing dog ears from this stack of brown half-square triangles destined to be the border of the as-of-yet-unnamed Ohio Star + Triplet block quilt.

It should be be that hard!
I woke up fine yesterday morning - not even a sore arm or anything remarkable from my Pfizer booster shot the afternoon before.

But by 11am or so - whammo!

Picture this - QPO temp cranked up to 72, me still wearing a coat and hugging a hot mug of tea because I just couldn't get warm.

So tired that I felt I could just crawl under a couple of quilts and sleep for days.

A very mild headache that wasn't really an ache - just pressure like my skull was half a size too small.

And I WELCOMED it, because that lets me know that my immune response was kicking in.

At noon I called the Hubster - checking in to see if he was experiencing anything, and he said that a couple of Excedrin knocked out the headache for him and he was fine.

At 2pm I had finished the pressing and trimming (Yes, that warm iron felt good!) and I headed home to take that nap, finally getting myself warm beneath 2 quilts.

3 hours later I woke up feeling fine!

Dinner was an easy affair - pork chops ala Instant Pot and we settled in for a night of stitching and schmaltzy holiday movie watching.

My Dad's Christmas Date on Netflix was the feel good fluff of choice.

Followed up with some murder and mayhem ala NCIS.  LOL!

This is a shot of the last large corner fill-in section left to finish on the eternal hexie project that has spanned more than 20 years now.

I'm getting there.  Even with interruptions like this:

Zoey gets jealous that Ivy is on my legs.

And then it becomes a game of "If I don't look at you, you are really not here!"

And Ivy wins!

The ultra confident smile with eyes closed says it all.

And Zoey relegates herself to the opposite end of the couch in defeat.  LOL!

This morning I'm feeling 100% normal - so my plan is to attack those half-square triangles and set in on sewing that brown border together.

As soon as everything is ready to roll for tomorrow's Rhododendron Trail Part Three post!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

There is an awful lot of hustle and bustle out there.
My wish is that you are able to find some time and space to just "be" today.

Will you find some time to put needle and thread through fabric? Just for a bit?

I hope so!

  1. Bonnie, Thank you so much for posting pictures of everyone's progress on Rhododendron Trail! I love seeing how other quilters are coming along with the mystery! I don't use Instagram or Facebook so I don't get to see these pics there. Please keep sharing the appropriate photos as the weeks go by. I love it!! Also, love seeing Zoey and Ivy, as well as Lola! 2. I will make time today to sew up a few more of part two clue. Then it’s on to cookie making for me. I volunteered to make eight dozen cookies for a local charity event that happens tomorrow. Since my husband had to change his diet and give up sweets I’ve missed making cookies so today I will be baking with joy, and sewing with joy as well!

  4. I was working on clue 2 yesterday and the instruction on cutting the goose triangle said to use the 3rd green line, but that was too small. Glad I didn't cut them all. I always make one to make sure the size is correct. Make a not on your instructions to use the 4th green line if using Bonnie's Essential Triangle ruler. I get half of them finished. Whoo hoo!!

  5. Glad to hear the booster reaction is gone. I had almost the same brief spell of not feeling well but now I feel GREAT!
I’m following Rhodie Trail and am anxious to begin it after I’ve finished my holiday tasks. What I’ve seen is so pretty. Hope mine is too.
As always, thank you, Bonnie, for all you do for us.

  8. glad you have recovered from the Booster, i go for Moderna Boost later this a.m. I have not been able to find the time to start Rhoda! and am looking forward to seeing what you have planned for #3 tomorrow...would love to know what Ivy had to say to Zoey, to make her grump to the edge of the chair! She looks thoroughly disgusted~! It must be quiet now at the Inn... resting until February... hopefully, that will give you a chance to recharge your batteries and take care of whatever need done, with time in between to do what makes YOUR heart sing! Hugs, prayers & blessings... Cats in Carlsbad CA

  9. I’m glad you are feeling better. And I like your attitude! Your body is doing it’s job! My booster was a bit easier. Everyone is different in their responses, but we must do out part! Away from my machine for six weeks, but printing the clues to Rhododendron Trail! Loving all your brown/ neutral HST! Yummy!

  10. I am glad you are feeling better after your booster. I love seeing pictures of you with a quilt hoop in your lap. Or a cat. Or both. Makes me feel like if we met in real life we would have so much in common and would be friends.

  12. I love having my 2 Warm Quilts on my bed. Naps are good for aching bodies. I have to move and shuffle a few more totes of Christmas stuff. Finding my treasures to put on my new 6.5' tree. I haven't had a Big tree for 3 years. Part 2 is calling me tonight. My Essential Triangle Tool will help cutting go quickly.

  13. At a quilt retreat last week in Texas we had a Mother/Daughter duo. The Mom finished a binding on her daughter's Baby Quilt - the daughter is 54. We celebrated her success. The daughter was so excited that her quilt was finished. It was a monumental moment for everyone. I had the same effect from my booster that you and hubby did. One day of being out of sync and then back to normal.

  14. I felt a little off after booster but took it as a good sign meaning the booster and my system were doing its job. Took booster prior to all the chatter about omicron variant and so glad I did. During days off from work due to the holidays hope to make some progress on Lady of the Lake

  15. I love seeing your hexie quilt.
Thanks for the reminder on what hashtags to use on instagram.
Me & family are just getting over an intestinal virus thing. It was awful. All better now though.

  16. This is all so much fun!!!

I may not get any sewing done today, but that's okay. My goal for the week was to finish Clue #2 - which I did last night - and still have time to do some rearranging in my sewing room, all before the Clue #3 publication on Friday. So that's what I'll be doing the rest of today.

Thank you so much, Bonnie, for all that you generously share with us!!!!

  17. I also got my booster shot on Tues morning and YES! I have a strong immune response from my body too! I have had the same symptoms as yourself but I got the Moderna booster. Nevertheless, I'm so glad you're doing better as well as myself. Can't wait to see the browns and what it's named!! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

  18. I think a lot of us got that post headache from the booster. Falling a little behind on clue 2 due to badly sprained ankle. Thank you for all you do for us.

  19. I had a few hours of chills with my booster, too, but felt much better the day after! Just so glad to get that over with so I can enjoy more stitching time.

  20. Love the colors of the "yet to be named quilt"
It looks like the recent pictures you are sharing ...winter walks on the trail

  21. Hi Bonnie:
So Glad you are feeling better and hope the Booster effect is gone. Yes, it means the antibodies formed from the original shots are working against the invasion of the Booster! Great Job Immune System!

My Rhodie Trail is progressing, but only got half the step #2 completed, because I had to take a couple days to cut and do a QAYG Serging Service Quilt project/ class date. But, I am back to Rhododendron Trail today. Quiet Time, Yes; because we are in our third day of snowing. It is piling up, as the guy to plow my driveway has not been here yet, as his truck was broke down one day, at least. SO, he is behind. It is OK, I DON'T have to go anywhere, and I can always sew!
