The day we went to San Gimignano we were in for a special treat ---
After we had shopped out and enjoyed the history and beauty of San Gimignano, we loaded back up on to our bus and headed a short distance over to Fattoria San Donato, an organic winery and farm to see how things are done under the Tuscan sun!
By this time we were ready to sit down and enjoy the beauty of the area, and we were not disappointed in the rustic charm –both of the buildings and of the owners of Fattoria San Donato themselves.
While some dream of owning a Tuscan Villa –the owners of San Donato actually purchased a whole medieval TOWN! There are several buildings on the property including an ancient church – surrounded by acres of farm land. Everything grown is done so organically, be it spelt, olives for the fruit and for olive oil, and grapes for the wines produced at the winery or fattoria.
May is such a beautiful month to be in Tuscany!
Check out this spread for our “picnic” lunch!
Local meats, cheeses and salads –wonderful!

Today is our last full day and we are spending it in Florence. There will be a farewell dinner tonight back at our hotel, and we will be on our way home to our various destinations tomorrow.
What a trip this has been. I’ve got so many many photos left to share, we’ll be continuing the travelogue for quite a while!
