Blue skies --
Open Road --
Music up loud --
PERFECT!
Most of my life is run on schedules, time frames and agendas.
Yesterday?
We had all day to get from point A (Soldotna) to point B (Seward) and could take as long as we wanted to get there which meant taking some side roads. It meant stopping where photo ops beckoned. It meant taking little walks down to the gravely shore of lake front to take in the beauty and the wonder of this land called Alaska.
It meant not even taking photos of EVERYTHING ---because sometimes the beauty is most appreciated when seen out from behind the lens of a camera or cell phone screen.
Sometimes life requires putting the camera down and REALLY looking.
Looking at blue water through branches full of spring green.
Admiring the view as it went by –through the car windows.
Standing on a lake shore looking this way.
And this way.
And also this way.
This amazing place!
There were others out enjoying the beautiful day – but keep in mind the temp is only about 54 degrees. Those folks on motorcycles? NUTS! This is the time of year where I enjoy the sunny warmth and the greenhouse effect form the INSIDE of my car –not on the back of a motorcycle. Just not warm enough yet!
Such a beautiful day!
Mark this day down in the history books --No hexies were sewn on this day. My eyes were busy elsewhere. This day was a day of watching and of wonder at this magestic place.
Moose spotting in the marshes!
I would have missed her if I had been stitching hexies!
Clouds hugging mountains.
Alaska.
More photos to follow. Today’s agenda is a boat tour up the Kenai Fjords.
But first – breakfast. I was finally able to sleep in until 5:30am!! Hallelujah!
No Ash in those skies! We remember the Mt St Helen's spewing Ash across Washington State today 35 years ago. Beautiful Photos and views! Thanks for taking along for the ride.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this trip will yield another trip inspiration quilt like the Grand Illusion! Enjoy the beauty this country has to offer.
ReplyDeleteWOW, the beauty takes your breath away! SOOOOO want to make it up there one day! Enjoy and thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteYou have brought back such wonderful memories through your pictures. Our son lived there for over 20 years and every time we visited him, it was like seeing Alaska for the first time. It truly is God's country!

ReplyDeleteI think we passes on the road yesterday. I just finished the sea portion of a cruise left Seward going to Alyeska. I think I saw the same moose. This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have been.
