Scrappy Mountain Majesties

Match them, sew them, cut them apart, resew them, play with them in many many different lay outs ---

Fun scrappy blocks add up quickly, and by early afternoon we were gathered round the table seeing which way each quilter wanted to set their blocks.

This is such a great beginner class ---and the quilt looks so much more difficult than it really is. You need to try this one....really you do!

Click HERE for Scrappy Mountain Majesties.

Donna sure came prepared ----look at this stack of squares all trimmed up and ready to go! Just how many blocks did she think she was going to get done in one six hour class?! LOL! Turns out she is quite determined, she wants a quilt that fits her king sized bed….and I have no doubts that she will have it done in no time……all 224 blocks required for the size of quilt she needs!

Sew, Donna, Sew!!

Take a look at how we kept busy all day long:

I think I would love to make another one of these some day and try another layout myself ----This was just such a great day!

Today begins the long journey home ---I haven’t touched the hexies much since my flight landed at LAX. I’ll have plenty of time to add to it today…oh, and look look look! It’s fun to find other hexie lovers out there ---this gal caught a glimpse of mine and came to talk to me and showed me HER little hexie project using the 1/2” per side hexagons…they make mine look giant!

Look at that little teeny tiny diamond border --- WOWIE!! I just love how versatile these are and the different ways you can set them into endless designs ----will I ever go that small? Dunno! Need to finish the other one first ;c)

  3. Donna was a woman with a mission!
I've never looked at the construction method of this quilt before--very clever!
Those are tiny little diamonds in that hexie project. I know the answer to that question if put to me. NO! : )

  5. The Scrappy Mountain Majesties quilt is very interesting. Thank you for providing the instructions. It appears that you had a great time with some very enthusiastic quilters....go Donna go. LOL In all my traveling over the years, I have never seen anyone sewing in the airport. Knitting and crocheting yes, but never sewing. Guess I am just on the wrong flights. The lady with the 'hexie' project did some awesome sewing those little diamonds.

  6. It was an amazing class & so fun! I'm working today, but will be sewing tomorrow. Found more fabric last night in my stash that I can cut & add to that stack! I'll post pictures of my stack of squares as it gets smaller! Really enjoyed finally meeting you Bonnie! Safe travels today.

  8. Love this. Is there a site where we can get the little diamonds?

  9. Oh, i LOVE this block. It is such a nice block, and looks much harder than it is. I use my 10.5 inch squares that are usually blocks for these, and they make me so happy. Thanks so much for having this pattern on your website! Wish I could take a class!

You inspired me to start working on hexies since it is 'lunch box friendly'! I hope to someday take any of your classes. It sounds like you have a lot of fun.

Be careful on your way home. We are having some horrible weather. Have a safe journey.
