You'll Never Guess Where!

It was all by accident.

I had literally given up.

I had gone through every drawer, every file folder, every shelf - even rearranging some things in the process.

(And yes, I admit I even decluttered and threw some stuff out in the process...because...might as well?)

And then while doing something totally unrelated -

A book I ordered online needed to be put away in this whole straightening and relocating of things...and...

There between the two bottom books on the above shelf in my office:

I found it!

Evidently I had placed it between those two books to press it flat before going to care for Jason after his surgery.

It is found!

I am so relieved.  I want to present this to my India travelers in September as our stitching project.

I instantly sat down to figure out borders.

It's been a while since I've dug into these -

How about some scrappy four-patches for a checkerboard to start?

This is going along swimmingly!

Totally scrappy - my favorite color scheme of all.

I don't need too many for this easy small project, so stitching them from individual squares made for much quicker piecing with a focus on variety than strip piecing would.

That is...until you need to pull more squares out from under Scrap Compactor Hazel who found that she "just fits" in this bin!

What do you mean you need these squares?

I don't plan on moving any time soon. You can just wait.

Here is where I left things - I had a 2pm appointment for some dry needling at the physical therapists. She could FEEL that huge knot in the muscle to the left of my spine.

That took about an hour...and then I went to Galax from there because once out, you are going to make good use of the gas and do ALL OF THE THINGS. Okay. Food City and Walmart and a swing by Dollar General...

By the time I was done there was no time to stop back by the studio, and I had groceries in the car that needed to go in the fridge so home I went.

THIS is what I'm going for.

I'll start on the spool blocks today.  I can make the nine-patches out of the same squares bin that Hazel has flattened.

This will come together fairly quickly, I'll be able to quilt it up, add binding and a hanging sleeve and have it ready for my September tour group.

I'm excited about this one as most of my travel stitcheries have been color coordinated.  This will be a scrappy thing that folks can tailor how they want in whatever colors that they want.

What was lost is now found - hooray.

Last night got me this far on the second-to-last hexie motif.
I'm also thinking more on that squares drawer and thinking I need a project that will sew them all down as well.  It's time.
Housekeeper Susan is on hand today to put the inn to rights -
Son Jeff is over taking care of the lawn that became a bit overgrown this week - it was so hot and we've not had rain so we let it go.  Grass cut short in a drought just dries out. (didn't mean to make that rhyme, but hey.) and we had a bit of rain overnight so temps are cooler.
I've got the Pieceful Hearts gals from N Augusta SC/Augusta GA coming tomorrow and I can't wait to welcome them!
