It was nearly 80f yesterday.
In the coldest county in Virginia. In MARCH.
Everything is blooming - I had to take a little trip to Independence yesterday (25 minute drive) and along the river and following the winding roads forsythia were blooming bright yellow as if to say "HELLO!"
Some trees are bursting out in pink blooms. "YES!" is my reply - pink blooming trees are my favorite.
But there was also this voice saying "Don't trust it!" and I'm glad I knew what was coming because I woke to rain this morning and temps are dropping. It was something like 42 at 8am and now it's 37. Egads.
Why? Virginia, Why? The daffies by the creek are blooming!
And these between the house and the garage?
Better tuck in little buddies, it's going to be a roller coaster over the next several days!
Hazel and Flash soaking up the sun in the early afternoon.
Hazel almost blending in to the steps here. She was watching squirrels from here.
Try to get a nice portrait and I get her tongue out?
Two times a charm?
And a big yawn. LOIL!
But while I got just a bit of sewing and de-papering time - her favorite place is on my big chair.
This batch has paper removed -
And I had just started in on the next round of color-on-the-outside units before Celeste and her traveling buddies began to arrive. Today with the rain? I'll be back at it.
With this girl watching?
Her belly fur is starting to grow back...but that tum tum is so cute I can't resist giving it a rub.
And Hazel is so funny - she will follow me from the studio to the back porch, and when I head back to the studio she runs ahead of me, thundering to the back door. Like a dog. Crazy.
6 years ago today!
This happened just a couple days before Covid lockdown began. Hard to believe it's been 6 years aleady.
This girl has been my constant companion - she's on her dog bed by the side of my desk right now as I type this.
Happy Gotcha Day, Zoey!
I'll be cutting today short for an afternoon appointment at the Chiro, also called DATE NIGHT because Dave and I get our monthly adjustments at the same time, and then head out for early dinner and run any errands that need running.
We used to laugh at the old folks who were having dinner by 5pm. Now we are they. And it's pretty good because that means I can be home and in my chair with hexies in my lap by 7pm. Grand!
The PDF pattern Gift-Away for Brookgreen starts TOMORROW! Just a few finishing touches are left - See you back here then!
Any plans ahead for your Thursday?

I had a cat that looked just like Hazel, same dense fur, same body build, except he was black. I called him my dog-cat. He would follow me around, too. He would come when I called him. He loved riding in the truck with my husband. He would sit on my husband's lap and hang out the window like a dog. I wonder if they were the same breed.

Suspecting Hazel may have some Maine Coon in her bloodline. I've had 8 pedigreed MC's (and 2 partial) and they are very laid back and dog-like. Very tuned in to their people and what's going on. Not at all aloof. Big smarty pants-es too!
DeleteTime really flies! Hey, is Zoey still sitting on her head? My little Zoe likes to hump one of her doggie beds. Yes, a girl doggie sometimes, well usually several times a day, likes to rub her belly on something. After 3 years, she finally realized she gets better traction by putting the top of her head on the floor and with one leg in the bed and one outside, she'll rub and rub. Every time I see her doing this, I think of your Zoey. My little 10 lb diva, will actually pick up the bed by her teeth and carry it to another spot in the house so it's close by when she needs a rub. She's a hoot! Hope Mabel is doing better.
ReplyDeleteToday's "quote quilt" is a good reminder what a pop of red does for a quilt !
ReplyDeleteChesapeake is expecting a 30+ temp drop sometime this afternoon. Reminds me of my roots from the Midwest Spring temp shifts when a front just drops without any notice and the weather is crazy. Wear a sweater or voat....you're gonna need it
ReplyDeleteThursday. Still mild here but expecting a ton of snow. I can’t believe it. More time for sewing. But. Today off to grocery store before I can get sewing.
ReplyDeleteJust a little rain on Walla Walla. Headed down to Hermisto for a cousins wife's graveside funeral. Sometimes you gotta go.
ReplyDeleteHazel, what big teeth you have! Ellen Thompson
ReplyDeleteHope you picked a big bunch of those pretty daffodils for your guests to enjoy while they sew….Dot in Pa.
ReplyDeleteYour daily report makes my day, Bonnie. Thanks for taking time to share your life, adventures and talent with us. I always enjoy the daily quote and LOVE today's vintage quilt. Do you know the name of the pattern? It looks like a "fancied-up snowball." Thanks again for all you do. Sending you a hug and lots of belly-rubs for all your furry children. Jan in Memphis
ReplyDeleteYay for Zoey’s gotcha day! Tomorrow is gotcha day for us, but it was for our adult daughter and her poodle, Mimi. They were living in a bad situation, 500 miles from us, when we drove to pick them up and bring them home. It was Friday the 13th when we headed for home, chased by Covid all the way. Little did we know that a break for a month or two, would turn into a Covid lockdown, a new job, and them living with us for five years! Now, our daughter is house-sitting for a friend of ours who works in Saudi Arabia (yikes!), and we get to have Mimi with us all day while she’s at work. I’d call that gotcha day a win-win-win! Have a great Friday the 13th everyone (tomorrow)! Candy
ReplyDeleteThat "quote quilt" is really interesting. It took me a bit to figure out that it really is al hexies. Cold and rainy here in MN, so quilting will happen!
