This didn't take long!
The July Quiltvillians checked in on Wednesday afternoon/evening and by the time I arrived yesterday morning there was a plethora of projects already up on design walls and being worked on at machines.
The best part? There was not a soul in the Quilting Quarters - they were on the porch having brunch!
So I did a quick tour around the room to catch some quilting projects in still life.
I love this traditional Barrister's Block presented in this pattern by Moda:
This version is called By The Bay and is designed to use layer cakes. I love the soothing blues.
I love seeing the workspaces where the magic is happening!
As I made my way into the kitchen -
WHERE IS OUR BREAKFAST?!?!?!
Tula has been a window-peeper since she first adopted us...but this is the first time I saw Flash curious enough and feeling safe enough to peek in over her shoulder to see what is going on in here...
There is hope that one day he will let us touch him. I would give anything to hear him purr and for him to know he is doesn't have to fear us.
Right now he stays about 6 feet away from anyone, and will turn and bolt if you make a move toward him. We are letting him live life on his terms right now.
Some impromptu show and share!
Emily shared this finished quilted jacket that she made -
A lovely Elizabeth Hartman top in blues and aquas -
And a fun scrap buster!
It's from this pattern by Thimble Blossoms
Happy holiday bear paw with skinny sashings! Love it!
This one is called Redford.
There is a lot of Christmas in July sewing happening as well, and it is July after all!
A completed Xing top from my book String Frenzy made up in reds and greens.
Close up of fun scraps!
A whole lot of holiday paper piecing happening here!
Some of these pieces are so small and the sewing lines so close together it is just insane, but look:
It's Burl Ives as the snow man!
If you are of a certain age like I am, you likely watched this show on a yearly basis. It wasn't the holidays without a bit of Sam the Snowman.
Fans of the beloved television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” eagerly awaited the annual appearance of the little reindeer, who first flashed his nose in 1964.
I remember, do you? I swear I can hear Burl Ive's voice as I walked in to see that paper pieced version on the design wall.
Christmas Stack n' Whack receiving borders!
Progress being made at my own machine.
I've got block kits cut in the small plastic show box in front of the green basket holding my completed blocks.
And yes, more Four Patch Fun blocks are happening between the seams as I work on my main project.
I'm working my way through all of the pinks I've cut out first, and then will move on to the mustard/gold versions.
By 3:30pm I was just feeling "Done Through" and hobbled over to the inn to join the ladies for snackies and bevvies on the back porch.
It was nice to just sit and visit and catch up. My walking back and forth from the QPO to the retreat is a bit limited due to wanting this leg to heal. But I made it over for porch time and it was a great end to a great day.
Tula lounging on the rug under a rocking chair because yeah - that looks comfy! LOL!
Notice the curly belly hair? Adorable.
Around the corner and partly under the church pew beneath the kitchen sink window - Flash snoozing.
Ladies are all sitting at the porch dining tables...there is much talking and laughing and it doesn't seem to bother him a bit. He is trusting us!
I told you - he is getting there!
So what's up for our Friday? Not sure! Huge thunder-bumper storms rolled through in the middle of the night. Seriously crazy rain and thunder.
Is it going to rain more today? My phone app is saying more thunderstorms later this afternoon but who knows.
The quilters are all inside and quilting up a storm. Everyone is happy, and that makes ME happy.
Maybe today I'll load that little Old Town topper into the long arm?
How about your Friday?
Our Abbeygate release was a hit! I'm so thrilled to hear that so many of you have been setting your scraps aside with this quilt in mind and I can't wait to see what you do with this one.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Sometimes we all need a kick in the pants to get motivated.
Here's your kick for the day! Just START!
And It's always a good day to start a string project!
Close up of my Santa Fe String Star quilt from my book String Fling.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Good morning
ReplyDeleteLove the string quilt in reds! And the Bear Paw one..
Kitties are adorable and beautiful ❤️
Well, now that I'm finished with Old Town I should mount it onto the longarm...maybe tomorrow.
I'm anxious to start a new main quilt. I must look in my queue box to see what's there.
Have a wonderful day 🌹
Blessings 💞🙏
I'm pulling fabrics for quilts for my two grandsons. They are already at 9 and 11 into science bigtime, so I'm making simple blocks with some of the great fabrics I've found on the web. It's going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! So much eye candy today! My favorite pics are of Tula and Flash. So glad he's feeling more comfy. :-) Happy Friday, I'm off to get a hair cut, Jenny
ReplyDeleteLove seeing what's happening at the INN, great projects are coming together from the talented quilters :0) Happy Sewing
ReplyDeleteEmily's jacket is impressive. Ellen Thompson
ReplyDeleteThe Quilters are very busy. Lots of eye candy on those walls. I remember Burl Ives as the Snowman on Rudolph at Christmas. Even had a blow-up reindeer and the Book to read. I love Christmas in July! Finishing up a Flimsy for my High School Class Reunion next month. Sashings or no, that is the Question? Playing with ideas to get it done. Be safe with all the Thunderstorms.
ReplyDeleteI just loved seeing Sam the Snowman!! I remember seeing the first Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer program when it first came out and I insist on seeing it every year - much to my husband's chagrin. But it isn't Christmas without Burl Ives singing "Holly Jolly Christmas" and Rudolph, the Bumble, Yukon Corneilus, and Herbie the elf.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see Flash acclimating to his new environment. You'll be able to pet him before you know it.
Happy Friday to all.
Love to you for providing Tula and Flash such comfort.❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteMissy D.
I loved those holiday shows ! Don't forget "Suzy Snowflake". I have them for my grandkids to watch
ReplyDeleteOh, the snowman!! I heard his voice too!! That was a nice surprise! I'm loving everything coming out of this group already! :-)
ReplyDeleteSo happy to see Flash trusting & getting closer. I guess he figures if sissy trusts you it's ok... he can too.
Today I took a page out of your book & instead of working on the border for my Idaho Square Dance, I went small & started up my pineapple blocks that I have been moving back & forth around my sewing room for the last couple of years! Ha!! Tomorrow is a day off from sewing to go have some fun & do some hard work helping out family. Next week is my last week of summer break... HOW?! Hoping to get Idaho done before heading back to school. Have a wonderful weekend & I hope your leg continues to keep healing! :-)
