I learn the best things from random quilters as they come and set up their sewing stations for retreat.
Did you know that you can double your space and have room for all of your stuff if you bring some simple organizing shelves?
Space above, space below.
When you can't spread wide, go high!
We've got 3 levels here from table top to up above.
Many of these little shelf things break down to flat and are easy to transport.
Because, you know - We need ALL THE THINGS!
I love watching folks move in and set up their spaces as their new home for just about a week.
I can't wait to see just what they'll be churning out now that they are all set up and ready to roll.
Hello, little green grasshopper! So cute!
Some Nebula diamonds happening here -
And yes, it is Christmas in July - so there is SWAG!
And a Christmas tree hanging.
And it looks like a fun gift exchange will happen at some point.
Some cute hexies are on the wall.
And something dynamic being made with African prints.
One Block Wonder assembly taking place!
Big star with a music theme!
Little star in holiday prints becomes:
A darling runner!
A finished top in soft colors.
Well done!
I was invited to partake in a Salad Bar lunch....doesn't this look delicious?? Things were set out in the dining room (Because the kitchen island is too small for this spread!) and then we were to take our plates/bowls outside to eat on the porch.
But first....
Looks like we'd been visited by racoons overnight. There are footprints (and hand prints??) on the table!
A quick spray of cleaner and a couple of paper towels took care of that. Those varmints!
It was a lovely day for lunch, in spite of raccoon visitations!
This morning I laid out the hexie quilt to see just how much was left to do after last night's round of stitching -
Mabel promptly walked over to claim (and sit upon) the sunny spot. Good morning!
Looks like a lot of progress was made last night!
My wonder clip marks where I stopped at about 73''. I bet there is only one more evening to get this done.
Mabel rolls over and says hooray!
But it won't be tonight - it's a fire pit night! And the dogs love that too as they get to come and visit with everyone.
The ladies have my park pass and are headed up this morning in search of ponies. It's another day to dig into all of the quilty things in the studio.
I can't think of a better way to spend a Friday!
Our Abbeygate release was a hit! I'm so thrilled to hear that so many of you have been setting your scraps aside with this quilt in mind and I can't wait to see what you do with this one.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -
I hear it takes a long time to finish a quilt you are not working on!
Pull something forward today and let's make some progress!
Happy Friday, everyone!

Hope they see the Ponies.. Virginia
ReplyDeleteBound is pretty.
Boy it seems this week flew by to me. It was just Monday!!
I'm making great progress on Carolina Christmas..
Have a Sparkling day
Blessings 🌹🙏
My fleet of machines is only 3. I have a sew-steady table for each. My favorite is the biggest. Very handy for extending available space as my 24x36 cutting mat is to my left. For anyone curious:

Christmas in July looks so fun with the decorations. In the first photo I saw the twinkle lights and wondered a bit. Then wow! That nebula is amazing!!
ReplyDeleteI love to see the way the maximize space. Thanks for sharing. It's a Zoom Day with My Girlfriends Quilt Shoppe getting warmed up for Kimberbell Day tomorrow. I will take a break for lunch with my Pioneer ladies a day late. I was not available yesterday. Happy FriYay!
ReplyDeleteI love that you found an advertisement picture of the little green Elna that someone brought to retreat! Also, this group is truly an organizational inspiration! Multi-layer vertical is absolutely brilliant! I'm going Amazon shopping right after I post here. I do love your links of products you like though, so I will probably wait a while before I purchase. I do have a wish list of products on my Amazon account so I don't forget some of the great organizational items I might need as I continue on the renovation and re-organization of my quilting studio.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!
Karen and her dog Zoe!
Christmas in July... :-) Love all those leveled storage shelves! Fun projects starting to happen. Happy Friday, Jenny
ReplyDeleteI have that very same machine in the ad! It is the one I learned to sew on and it is still going strong more than 50 years later!
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing so hard at today's quote! It's been forever since I've done any sewing at all, let alone quilting, for a variety of valid reasons, the most recent of which is that we've moved. But my sewing room is close to set up, the rest of the house is close to "moved in" and I'll be sewing again soon, and then there are two quilts that will be finished in fast succession!
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the green Elna machine, I have not seen one before.
ReplyDeleteI was going to make Abbeygate in blue and white. I tried to open my drawer of red fat quarters this morning. It will definitely need to be red,
