Snow Day, Sew Day!

I wasn't expecting this.

Not BEFORE Thanksgiving.

I don't think I've experienced the first snow of the season up here any earlier than Christmas week =

But as it has been an extremely weird year of Mother Nature pulling punches....I guess it's time to just throw my hands up in the air and say "Whatever!"

After all, I've got loads of fabric and projects to keep me busy until the end of time...

It started out like this on Thursday night -

It was coming down!

And by morning - this was what I saw:

More than a dusting!

And 25 degrees of Brrrrrr!

Someone couldn't wait to get out on the tractor and plow the drive!

The release of Old Town, Part One went off without a hitch. And it felt a bit like a celebration. A leisurely breakfast of pancakes, eggs and bacon. Yum. It was a special occasion!

Later in the morning Hubster Dave drove me over to the QPO studio - I needed to feed Tula and check in on things as well as attend to incoming mail order.

He dropped me off to do my thing while he went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription - both dogs riding along on this outing as there wasn't going to be much other "outside" time.

I took care of things that needed taking care of, and swapped out my pink string bucket from Thursday's Post for the next color up on this new project:

Hello, Mellow Yellow!

I kept checking in on mystery post comments, peering in at what everyone was sharing in our Quiltville's Open Studio Group on Facebook to see their excitement and progress.

You should give it a check!  It's so fun to see the different color plans that people are working with.  These quilts are going to be off-the-charts amazing!

I made it to here!

All triangles are trimmed and de-papered - there will still be MORE yellow to come, but not yet.

I'll be on to the next color...what is your guess that it might be?

By evening time I was ready to get away from my sewing machine and into my recliner with my feet up.

And this is where I left things - guess what will be finished TONIGHT?!?!

What you see is the remaining unquilted area on my Parade Day quilt. It won't take long to finish it now.  It will be done BEFORE Thanksgiving!

So what is going to go into the quilting hoop next?  Maybe the red/neutral?  I'm thinking of just cross-hatching it for something different.

That means it will take many many months to get it "finished" But it will be ready for next fall as a pattern release just in time for next year's holiday sewing.

I'm not quite half-way done with the blocks on that one though, so it will have to wait until I get back from England to make much more progress on it. And that's okay.

Last chance to enter!

Your excitement over Moonflower has blown my mind!  Thank you so much!

It was so fun to make, and I can just imagine it in so many different color plans -

I'll be drawing for 2 winners who will each receive a Moonflower PDF pattern from me, and a Moonflower cotton roll from  Cotton to Quilts.

And don't forget to check out their neutral rolls as well - I love the variety in these cotton rolls!

We'll be drawing for those winners this coming Monday, 11/25/24.

Get your entry in on the Gift-Away Post.

And yes, there is introductory pricing!

The PDF pattern for Moonflower is currently 25% off in the Quiltville Store, no coupon code needed.

Rulers, notions and tools are also 15% off using code NOTIONS at checkout to receive discount.

To use a coupon code - click REDEEM YOUR COUPON beneath the the total in the shopping cart. Enter the coupon code in the box that opens up. Click enter.

*NOTE* You need to put the code in BEFORE you click to your payment method for discount coupon to be applied.

International Customers Purchasing PDF Patterns: Do not use the BUY NOW button on the pattern page to check out with autofill. Place the item in your shopping cart and then go to the cart page to check out choosing either your credit card option or Paypal. Shipping addresses should not apply as this is a digital pattern purchase. I don't know why it works this way, but it does.

And since we are headed into the holidays (And holiday sewing as well!)

I've also placed a 25% discount on Pine Tree Point. Price good through 12/15/24.

This quilt reminds me of all of the Christmas Tree trucks I see daily - pulling their tree harvest up and down these mountain roads, eventually to wind up in people's homes to become Christmas memories.

If you have one started from last year - why not pull it out and get going on it again? It's the perfect time!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

If it's true, it's true! ⁣
The one thing I struggle with is remembering people's names. I hear that's normal, but it sure feels weird.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Enjoy your sew day! I hope to get some stitching in today after my" chores" loving the mellow yellow! Could the next be....blue? Or perhaps purple? Can't wait to see!!

  2. I have to ask my Hubby to help me with names . He knows everyone. The 60's were more fun when I was growing up. I got my flying geese cut out. Stitching while pies cook later in the week. Our Thanksgiving is on Saturday. ALL my children are coming home! Barring the Icy roads in Idaho from Wyoming. Can't wait for the hugs. Congrats on the Hand Quilting finish. I switched my Red for Purple for "Old Town".

“The 60s were more fun when I was growing up”…..oh I love this! I am going to use this quote! So perfect! Although, I have to say because I just retired on Thursday, my 60s look like they might be lots of fun!

I hope the next color is a nice spring-y green. But knowing you, it could be something unexpected like purple or turquoise or orange! --Ann

I so agree with today's quote. Especially the names part - totally embarrassing when you've known someone for years ! Hang on ladies, cause it gets worse. At 88 I hardly can remember my own. (& what's his face across the room)

How about gray for your next color? it would play so well with your pink and yellow! I want to do the mystery quilt but cannot for the life of me decide on my colors. I'm printing out the instructions so when i finally make up my mind i'll have it. I appreciate you Bonnie. You're wonderful!!!! nancy

  7. I'm guessing pink for your next color, looks so great with yellow. Love the snow pictures, something so pretty about the first snow fall, but glad I am here by the sea where we rarely see the white stuff! Thanks again for the annual mystery...my favorite time of the year :0) Happy Sewing!

Oregon has had snow. Even opened Mt. Bachelor, our local ski resort two weeks early. After many years En Provence is complete. Still deciding about what is next. I realized a few days ago I really need to make a generic Christmas quilt.

  12. Happy Snow Day to you from a Snow Day here in Central Alberta, Canada! I shovelled a good 8" out of my driveway late this morning but it's still coming down and as it's a weekend, I doubt the County that manages our wee hamlet will send a plough around till Monday. It's been a day to bake some bread (with a machine's help) and knit up a pair of fingerless gloves (Xmas gifts) but I also auditioned some stash for "Old Town"...love me a mystery! And I thank you for the break on the cost of "Moonflower". I rarely buy patterns nowadays, especially from the US (the CAD is...not so strong...) but the sale price made it worth it for this one because I fell in love! If this weather keeps up, I'll be starting both of them...maybe tomorrow? ;-)

Hi Bonnie; the snow is lovely... we went up to Idaho this morning (from Utah) to go Christmas tree hunting... (nice thing is they don't move much so they are easy to catch!) lol.... there was a couple of inches of snow that had been there a couple of days... our little 1 year old granddaughter (her birthday was Thursday) had so much fun in the snow... so many things to look at. Love your colors for the triangles... looks like lots of fun. So glad your hubby is doing better.
Oh, Ginko is good for memory at least it has been helping my hubby and I... you know ole what's his name! Just kidding We have noticed it is making a difference. Keep warm and enjoy your snow days! Jean
