I walked in the front door to find a group gathered in the dining room -
Dianna was presenting a featherweight maintenance demo to a group of vintage machine lovers, focusing mainly on featherweights, but also talking about 301 machines and how much they have in common.
Chances are, if you have a featherweight or two, your next "Must Have" is a singer 301!
Both are very popular machines for bringing to retreat, and easy to maintain on your own.
But there is plenty of that going on, too!
Now that November is turning a bit chillier, the Hen Den is getting quite a bit more use - look who I found here!
Barbara had just finished the last stitches in the binding of Wanderlust from the Addicted to Scraps book.
Projects are being worked on, tops are coming together -
All in hopes of having them done for this afternoon's over-the-porch-rail photo op!
Gorgeous ocean colors -
Finding their final lay out -
More blocks going up -
The one thing I love about Scrappy Mountain Majesties (Free Patterns tab) is that there are so many different ways to set these blocks!
Time to sew them together!
How about this way?
Have you made one?
It's been a hit of a retreat project this week!
Hahahah! Smiling Hamilton Gardens beginnings!
Check out THIS progress!
All of the scrap fabrics are so much fun -
Civil War Sampler blocks
Licorice Twist in progress!
Oh, this is fun!
What a great way to set a collection of larger prints!
Morning Glories went from this -
To This! Hooray!
Carolina Chain blocks from the Addicted to Scraps book!
Oh, fun!!
Wonderful!
And I have a bit of my new project to share.

Finally sewing on my red/neutral project!
Not sure what to call it yet, but I'll be working on this over the net several weeks and it may become my next hand quilting project. (Because some quilts just need to SLOW THE HECK DOWN!)
I hope this keeps me in the holiday spirit for a while.
And yes, we did this!
It was too nice of a night not to enjoy it.

Fudge Stripe cookies and marshmallow char. LOL!
And morning sunrise on Sunday.
Today is the last day for the November Quiltvillians. Group photos this morning in front of the house, and over-the-porch-rail shots this afternoon. All of that last day stuff.
As they are packing up to head home tomorrow morning, I'll be on the way to the airport to spend a week with my dad in Arizona. (No blog post tomorrow morning - we head to the airport early and I'll catch you from there as I can.)
This year has flown by so quickly!
Quiltville Quote of the Day -
The older I get, the more this flip-flopping on and off of daylight savings time messes with me.
You, too?
There may need to be a nap today.
Happy Monday, folks -
Enjoy your time with your dad. Safe travels too.
ReplyDeleteLove the civil war project..pretty fabrics.
Love your red and white block.
Will make a gorgeous quilt.
Overcast here today.
Have a Sparkling day
I'd vote for Wreath of Smiles. I see wreaths in the reds. Safe travels and enjoy! Marilyn Marks
ReplyDeleteso pretty work!
ReplyDeleteThe older I get the more elusive sleep becomes, changing the time certainly doesn't help. On the plus side, less sleep equals more sewing time. Gotta look on the bright side of life, right.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a safe and enjoyable trip to visit your Dad!
ReplyDeleteYes, I made Scrappy Mountain Majesties, loved making it, will definitly have to make another soon, had so much trouble deciding how to put it together, kept moving blocks! Safe and enjoyable travels, Bonnie, will be reading old blog posts while you are on vacation, thanks for all you do for us. Hugs to your Dad.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know the pattern that Bonnie mentioned was great for a collection of larger prints? At Quilt Con I was introduced to the work of Charley Harper and I think this pattern would be great for that fabric. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI believe it's the first BQ pattern by Maple Island Quilts
