Porch Rockin' & Quilt Shop Hoppin'!

These lovely autumn days -

I know they won't last much longer, but it does my heart good to leave my QPO office and hear the sounds of conversation and laughter coming from the front porch.

Yep - the November Quiltvillians were enjoying the beautiful late afternoon after enjoying an outing to Quilts on Main in Galax - the newest quilt shop to our area.

I heard tales of plans for this fabric, and that one, and did you see the other?

I swear there are no happier faces than this:

Mine, all mine, all MINE!

Sew much fun!

Some finishes were shared - bordered and all!

This is Winston Ways from MORE Adventures with Leaders & Enders worked up in Christmas fabrics and colors - and it just sparkles!

While this looks like a two-block quilt, it's only one block set side by side - not on point. It's easier than it looks and would be great in any color plan.

Kismet as a wall hanging!

Borders yet to come.

Happily Scrappily Irish from Adventures With Leaders & Enders is on the design wall, with plans for a beautiful dove grey as background in the alternate blocks.

This finish looks like one a grandson would love!

Album blocks in vintage looking repro fabrics.

(And a pincushion top in the making!)

Barb got her borders on her Punkin Patch quilt from String Frenzy.

Winter Blues looks wonderful in blue and yellow!

Beautiful Pineapple Blossom coming together!

Meanwhile, outside:

The chestnut trees decided to drop all of their leaves - all at once.  Seriously.  One day they were all there, the next - on the ground. All of them.

This was the hubster's job yesterday to take care of them all - leaf blower day.

He had gotten this far when I waved goodbye and headed off for my hair cut and errands day -

Hello from downtown, Mt Airy, NC!

Martha and I make our haircut appointments back to back so we can share the driving trip (about an hour) and make the most of the day.

Lunch out at Leon's in downtown, followed by haircuts, a trip to Dollar Tree, Aldi, and Southern States for feed for her cattle, chickens and goats.  We did it all.

And a new haircut seems to set everything right.  Self care is so important!

Lola was a bit indignant when I came in to feed her dinner.  "Where have you nee all day?"

The only fabric & thread time that happened for me was finding myself back at the hand quilting of my hexagon quilt.

At least it didn't involve any un-quilting!

And if you've made it this far - the last thing I need to do with this post is draw for the winner of our Nov/Dec Quiltmaker issue!

Who is entry 1955?

Ellen Ichoche!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

Of course this reasoning only works if I stop buying fabric.

All bets are off! Lol!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

  6. Fabric, What Fabric it sneaks in the house in Priority packages... lol. Had to get a few new colors for another SAL with Lori Holt. Waiting patiently for 20 more days.
Christmas Gifts a plenty to get made before Thanksgiving. Good to share the ride for haircuts. I need a trim.

  7. I recognize the fabrics on the Album blocks as the state flower fabrics from In the Beginning. I purchased a kit from Hickory Stick in Hannibal, MO in 2013 & embroidered the state name in the center of each block. My quilter surrounded each center square with the state outline. It was made to celebrate visiting each of the 50 states by me and my late husband. Missed attending Quiltville this year but will be there next year.
