Quilting All Day! ((DRAWING!))

Having one vehicle for the time being - and the fact that my studio and the inn are 7 miles from home can make things interesting.

We are learning to juggle the use of the van like we have never had to juggle before!

Sometimes - like this morning - means I am working from home while The Hubster takes the van to town for an appointment, and then when he is back, I can take it down the road to get done what I need to get done.

So far there haven't been any grave conflicts - but it can make things interesting! (Like the whole need to drive someone to Charlotte round-trip TWICE for a flight instead of just the traveler driving themselves and parking in the parking lot while gone and being able to drive themselves home after returning.)

At this point it's STILL a blessing that he has been working remotely from home since before Covid began, and at this stage he will finish all the way through to retirement in the same manner.

But I digress!  I was able to QUILT ALL DAY yesterday and I did!

I love the surprises that pop up in string quilts - like this cat peeking out from amongst the red strips!

Quilted, trimmed and ready for binding!

I wanted something with a slightly patriotic feeling that I could also use on other things.  Yesterday I received an email update from  urbanelementz.com that ALL Digital Designs were 25% off this week.

In searching for star designs, I came across Blue Star  and loved the flowy "not perfectly symmetrical" stars and ribbons.

That watermelon fabric finally found a home - it feels like a picnic quilt, complete with ketchup and mustard bottles!

Happily reaching the bottom edge!

Binding with a stripy print!

Lola, holding the sleeve fabric down.  LOL!

I made some good progress on flipping and stitching the binding down last evening during feet up TV time. Another couple of evenings is all it will take to call it done.

Meanwhile in the lap dog department.  LOL!

Mabel has been attached to The Hubster since he came home on Tuesday.  And NEITHER dogs have been on self-guided walkabouts since "The Event" either.

I have had this Judy Rothermel turkey red directional print for eons.  I really like it as binding here.

Now that we are this far on this quilt finish and there are no other completed tops to quilt up - what's on the agenda for today?

The next installment of the Ruby Jubilee from Quiltmaker has arrived! (Look for that Gift-Away to happen MONDAY!) and I plan to pull my purples back out and make those blocks to go with the other batches I have waiting in the wings.

I'm really enjoying making this quilt along with everyone else!

And with that - it's time to draw for our two winners of the April Showers PDF pattern & Fabric Roll Gift-Away!

The April Showers PDF pattern release has exceeded all expectations as we are all (in this hemisphere anyway!) clamoring for spring followed by summer.

We had 7,361 entries for this Gift-Away!  So super exciting!

We'll be drawing for one winner who will receive the PDF pattern for April Showers and a facets of purple color roll, and a second winner who will receive the April Showers PDF pattern and the facets of green color roll!

The April Showers pattern and Purple roll are going to:

Entry 250!  Candy Minton!

The April Showers pattern and green roll are going to:

Entry 7146! Elaine Knippers!

Congrats, ladies!  Please check the email inboxes you used as your entry address for your patterns.  Please reply to those emails with your mailing addresses and I'll have Irene at Cotton to Quilts get those fabric rolls right out to you.

Of course, if you are outside of the USA you may have the fabric rolls shipped to a friend within the USA who can then forward them on to you.

Thank you so much for your positive response!  I see photos of you digging through your stashes, posting images of fabric pulls and first blocks already.  Sew! Sew! Sew!

I love how ALL of the purples are so varied and play together so well.  Mother nature knows what she is doing!

I used my Essential Triangle Tool for the half-square triangles in April Showers.

I used the Simple Folded Corners ruler or Simple Folded Corners Mini for the stitch & flip corners on the diamond rectangle units.

I use these rulers all of the time.  If you don't have them, invest in yourself and get them! You'll find them in the Quiltville Store.

Traditional rotary cutting and piecing methods are given to those who don't have the rulers.

Better Together!

The PDF patterns for April Showers and Tulip Time are both marked 25% off through TOMORROW 4/30/22. Prices revert back to full on Sunday 5/1/22.

It's time to quilt up some spring and chase this rain away!

You'll find them both in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store.

If this is your first time downloading digital patterns from my store to a computer click HERE.

If you intend to download to an iPhone/iPad click HERE.

They are also available in the PDF pattern shop on Etsy.

Rulers, notions, tools, books and other "shipped" merchandise are only available in the Quiltville Store.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

How different life would be if we all walked away from gossip and verbal defamation.
Let's make a habit of shutting off conversations that aim to tear others down.

  5. If you want some more of the watermelon fabric, I saw some at a thrift store today. I could go get it for you.... :P I think I may even have some in my stash.

  6. I still have a piece of that watermelon print too. At this point I don't even remember what I was going to use it in.

  7. I've wondered about this...when stitching down a binding, I always make my horizontal 'bite' in the body of the quilt, then come up to tack the binding. In your (excellent!) Close up, you move horizontally in the binding. Hmmm. Any plusses/minuses either way?
