Fun Finishes (& an IronEZ Gift-Away!)

Well, I COULD get the borders on, if Lola wasn't laying on them!

You know the whole "Her name was Lola, she was a Show Girl" lyric - and the show girl decided she had to be the center of attention yesterday while I was cramming my best to get these borders on before going home time.

It's not like she just lays on top of everything I am doing - it's that she rolls around in her own kind of "cat on quilt" lap dance.

It's hysterical!

What?  You need to put on borders?  Why?

What border?

You mean the neutral one I'm laying on?

But it makes such a great pillow!

The borders were pieced the day before  and paper removed.

All I needed to do was sew the segments end to end, and cut them to length.  It should be a simple job, right? Until Lola! But how can you resist her?  I couldn't.

But they were on by going home time.

And now it feels "DONE" to me.

Without this border it just wasn't singing. At this point it measure 66'' square. It works as a couch size, snuggle quilt.

As we are all tall in my family - something 54'' square is barely going to cover a lap.  This will not only do, but do well, and I'm happy about it!

Yep.  This is much more fun and feels finished.

Backing fabrics have been pulled out of the "use it up!" bin.

How long have I had these florals?  I was originally going to use the Jinny Beyer big teal roses print in a Christmas quilt.  How long have I had this?

NO DATE!!  But it's old!

1990s I'm guessing.

The other rose print is beautiful, but the quilt I wanted to it as borders for never materialized.  It's a Laurene Simema "1850s Legacies and Beyond" and it has been in the stash quite a long time as well.

I fell in love with Civil War repros in the late 1990s when they first started being printed - about the time that the Dear Jane book came out.

How quickly a life in fabric flies by!

The plan today is to get this loaded - and the quilt is small enough that I might be able to zig zag together a frankenbatting to eliminate some batting scraps in the process.

Part TWO of Grassy Creek will be posted in the morning - so there is some more desk work to happen to make that ready.

It's going to be a full day in the QPO!

Let's Have Some Fun!

I received a message from the folks at IronEz and there are some new spray bottles on the block!  They are allowing us to choose THREE lucky winners this go round - One with the original bottle and one with the mister bottle and a third winner for two pack of mister bottles.

Have you seen the new mister bottles? They are all the rage - with good reason!

New Mister bottles!

I have a couple of these bottles and I love how they provide the finest mist when it comes to pressing.

Each IronEZ ironing board spray bottle holder purchase (use coupon code BH15OFF to save 15%!) includes this new bottle.

Get two or three while you are at it.  You are going to LOVE keeping those spray bottles in line and off of your ironing surface.

Need more bottles? They are now selling the new fine-mist bottles in a 2-pack so you can have one at your stand up ironing station, and one by your machine for work station pressing.

Fill them with your favorite spray be it Best Press, Flatter, spray starch or sizing, or the homemade version – whatever your favorite concoction is.

And we are going to draw for three winners!  One for an IronEZ ironing board spray bottle holder and original bottle, and a second winner for the holder and the new mister bottle, and a third winner for a 2 pack of the new spray bottles!

Whoowhooo!!
Winners will be drawn on Tuesday, December 8,2020.

Prizes must be shipped to a USA Address.  If you are out of the country, you may have it shipped to a friend within the USA, who can in turn ship it on to you.

And while you are in the "gotta be in it to win it" mode - did you see our Sulky Mystery Box Gift-Away?  I'll be drawing for that winner on Saturday.  It's an awesome box full of great specialty threads and other goodies.  Find out all of the info, and enter to win ON THAT POST.

Melinda K's Pine Tree Point!

"My Pine Tree Point quilt is finished. I took this snow photo this morning after our 6-8 inches of snowfall yesterday."

I love it, Melinda!  It's beautiful!

Pine Tree Point Rolls Available!

So many folks have said "I wish I had more variety in my greens!" when we released my Pine Tree Point PDF pattern.

My friend Irene at Cotton to Quilts who also did Grassy Creek Mystery Rolls for many of you offered to put some together to enhance your greens!

And yes, if you need more greens, these will work for Grassy Creek too! (Use the few aquas in another project.)

She also has a limited selection of ORANGE Mystery Rolls left if you are wanting to enhance your oranges for Grassy Creek. (Or Appalachian Autumn!)

Check them out at Cotton to Quilts!

And be watching for more neutral rolls to become available - Irene is cutting fabric as fast as she can!

You’ll find the PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point, including both the lap size and the runner in the Digital Patterns section of the Quiltville Store

This morning's pre-sunrise.

  7. Oh, you were so right. Those light string borders were just what that quilt needed. The red florals on the back will be fun, too.

  14. Bonnie, you have such a talent for making your quilts pop with your borders! This quilt was way too busy for me but with the neutral border and the solid red border, I love it!

  15. I love your crumb quilt! I also enjoyed that you shared your thought process when choosing the border. I would have never thought of a neutral border but your thought process helped me to see what you were thinking. It turned out great! Have a beautiful day Bonnie! ❤

  16. Lola keeps telling you, "Pressing matters!"

And no quilt is complete without cat hair.

  17. I’ve loved the crumb quilt from the beginning! The idea of using everything resonates with me. But, I’m thinking about the ‘thought for the day’. Is this a prelude for the clue tomorrow?😂😂😂.

  18. Ah yes, Cat Quilting. The struggle is real. My last project (coffee table topper) was really fun with the cat attempting to lay on the sandwich while I attempted to do just very rudimentary wavy lines. Well they are wavy alright. And rudimentary (I will just put lots of knickknacks on top of the quilt to hide the umm, waviness).

  19. Bonnie...
You captured Loala's thoughts perfectly!! So delightful:):)

  20. Hello!
I love your couch throw! Yes, the red border with the big neutral border calms it down. I also love your fur babies shenanigans! I will be coming back more often to catch up again. Happy quilting!

  21. Bonnie,
Love your crumb quilt and of course show girl Lola! There's another show tune with Lola in it. Don't know if you know or remember the musical 'Damn Yankees'. The song is about a pretty temptress named Lola.
The tune is 'Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets'. I think your kitty has that down right?

The borders do add quite a bit of sanity don't they?

  22. I really like the strip borders you do. How do you make them so perfectly even in a long line. I would love to make them that way. Thank you, Bonnie

  23. Border is perfect on the crumb quilt.

  24. Your crumb quilt is lovely. I would not have thought of neutral piano keys as a border, but it really works!

I'm enjoying the mystery quilt, but I just have to say I REALLY miss quilt cam! I know the technology challenges are real, but I'm watching some of them for the 4th time! LOL I'm not ready to give up hope that someday they'll be some new episodes. 😍🤩🤩😍

  26. The border really does make a great addition.

  27. I like your quilt very much and your border is just perfect. You write that the paper was removed. Does this mean that you « paper pieced » it? Do you always do that and iif yes, may I ask why?
Thank you very much for your quick response

  33. Love the crumb quilt. I have a dog that "chose" a quilt I was working on as his own too. We could not lay that quilt down that the critter did not claim it as his.

  34. Loved the finish on your crumb quilt. Perfect borders. Also love the Lola fun. Makes me smile and I need this for inspiration. Thanks!
