Moved On In And Quilting!

The Mississippi Stitchers moved on in on Wednesday afternoon...when I walked in yesterday morning the house was a-buzz with quilty activity!

Folks ask "Isn't it lonely and mundane living out there in the middle of nowhere?"  My answer? 

It's a party when I walk in!  And they feed me...what more could a girl ask for?

Of course sometimes the design walls don't offer enough space to lay out a full quilt, so the front foyer and dining room become staging areas and design floors. Whatever works.  We'll even move the front foyer round table to make room for you.

Once assembled into rows, back up on the design wall they went.

Hearts of Hope finish!

Before Hearts of Hope became a reality, Solidarity was already underway in my sketches and block samples. It was on the list for "Flag Season." Both patterns are included in the pattern booklet.

I love seeing Cabin Corners worked up in other people's stash scraps!

Here's mine!  I love the pops of consistent red.

You already know that I am a huge fan of foundation paper piecing when it comes to using my oddball scraps - they don't need to be trimmed down to any particular size before sewing on.  It's sew first, trim second and there is a place for EVERYTHING in this block.

I think this one is destined for some porch time.

With the shoulder/arm nerve pain thing going on I really wasn't able to do much yesterday.  I did get to the chiropractor, big adjustment and some therapy, but it's going to take time for a pinched nerve to behave.

Night sleep was compromised by pain any time I tried to roll over or readjust myself. Muscle relaxers giving me strange dreams and I feel like I've got a hangover in the morning.  Anyway -

Everywhere we visited in Romania, we knew there was a historic building or monument in front of us due to this little sign.

 
I knew when I got home I would draw it up for paper piecing.

I spent some time at the computer to draw it up.  

 
Here is my first little block in Romania's flag colors of red, yellow, and blue. Those sashings are really skinny, but any wider and it wouldn't look like the symbol from the places we visited.

 
Not sure how many I'll make. I'm just playing. It's nice to just piddle around after finishing a really big project.

The question is - Should I be working on other deadline things? Leader & Ender stuff needs to be ready next week.

If I make these blocks do I want them straight set or on point?  With sashings or not? With an alternate block so we get secondary designs? I don't know. And maybe just a SMALL wall hanging sized quilt is all I need to get this out of my system.  

Hazel isn't offering much in way of opinions but she sure makes me smile!
