June Quiltvillians - It's A Wrap!

Now, this is what I call a porch full!

Lovely sunshine, some tricky breezes, but all in all a big display and a wave to passers by on a Monday afternoon.

It was a joy to have the June Quiltvillians on hand as we turned the calendar page into June,

And oh, the projects worked on and some completed, Some waiting for more borders once home with the stash, some only just beginning and still in block making stage, but will definitely be making a return trip next year.

Moonflower and Rivanna could be soul sisters!

Both tops were finished this week. Well done!

Fourth of July meets Christlmas!

I don't have pattern sources for these two so if you know, leave them in the comments section below.

Maymont and our County Clare Leader & Ender challenge!

Did you finish yours?

Elk panel quilt is soon to be gifted. Rainbow chain has hand quilting still in progress.

Four-Patch postage stamp.  So many wonderful scraps!

Lupine & Laughter with binding all done! Gorgeous!

I had snuck into the Hen Den while much binding was happening and the task light was illuminating the most gorgeous of quilting textures.

Unity  in pink lemonade colors is FINALLY a full top!

We laughed when we counted how many years of retreats it had come to to reach finished.  It was always an easy to pack project to bring to retreat, and it eventually gets there.  Beautiful!

And two more quick retreat finishes - Disappearing Hourglass and a star and chain wall-hanging.  Lovely!

Another lovely  Lupine & Laughter!

Morning Glories also finished!

Pattern info needed on this one - I love how it is caught by the breeze!

This was a block of the month called Carnival. Love the steam punk fabrics!

Such pretty strawberries!

If you know the pattern info, please place it in the comments below.

Sand Castles from String Frenzy is also featured in my new book Scrap-Savvy due out in July!

More on that plug below...let's finish the porch rail show!

 Lupine & Laughter four-in-a-row~!

What a terrific display of gorgeous quilts.  Well done, everyone!

Love these ladies so much!

I muss you already.

We'll see you next year!

And as to my yesterday -

Oh my gosh - I start my journey to Romania on FRIDAY!

I have officially entered panic mode.

I know I said I was going to take some me time yesterday, but the me time I took was the quiet of an empty retreat house as the laundry ran.

I used the time in between loads to make the Bloom stitchery kits that we'll be working on while we travel around Romania. That's another checkmark off of my to-do list that had me breathing a bit easier.

The only thing left to do for our String Rings PDF pattern release (June 17th!) is to compile all the pattern pages into one PDF and get things pre-loaded into the store. I get back late on the 15th. We can do this and I'll be ready. That's one more think off the list that has me breathing a bit more freely.

With only a couple of laundry loads left to go, I jumped into some border piecing.

I love the name for this quilt - Goose Feathers.

But in the back of my mind I'm yelling "Don't Count The Geese!"  Just keep sewing...and sewing...and sewing.

Paper piecing is so satisfying when it is using up random scraps.

Does anyone recognize that red paw print in the upper left of this photo?  Hello? 1984? Do you want your red paw print fabric back?  Too bad. It's mine, and it's in here!

I managed to trim up yesterday's units and I'll de-paper them later today.

Once the units are pieced and trimmed there is no reason to keep the paper in there.  It's done its job. It makes it more difficult to remove if you have to pick paper out of seam allowances. Once the paper is off, it's just like piecing together regularly sewn units.

One of the other reasons I opened not to go wander to town on my own is that Hubster Dave also said he needed a Lowes run and asked if I'd like to grab dinner out together just the two of us.

I said sure....do you mind if we pop in to Goodwell for a few/

I was in search of an inexpensive water bottle that would fit the pocket in my back pack and wouldn't make me cry if I lost it or left it behind somewhere.

SCORE!

I picked up two insulated flasks: $2.00 each and they are 32 oz ones! Bonus that they are purple.

Yes, I lose water bottles.  So it was a pre-emptive strike to buy them both.

And that little iron???

Look ma, no steam holes!

This little number was $5.00. Clean as a whistle.  Works great.  Gets super hot.  No auto shut off.

I got out of the Goodwill for under $10.00 and consider myself a happy cheap date.

Dinner was good too.

Today? Much of the same. I left the last two loads in the drier - white towels in the garage dryer and colored towels in the house dryer.

I'll be making up towel baskets this morning, recovering the pressing stations and doing what I need to do so that the retreat is ready to welcome our next guests on June 17th.

And yes, there will be more red geese.  Wouldn't it be great if I had this border on BEFORE leaving for Romania?

Only a few days left to reserve your spot for India! Have you signed up yet? This is going to be an amazing adventure and I can't wait to wander around the Taj Mahal with you!
