Weekend Walks & Quilting!

Hooray for great weather and willing women eager to get out and get some steps in!

I tell you, though - we are going to have to start getting out just a bit earlier because all at once - it'ss too hot if we wait until 11am!

It's just a short walk. About 2 miles.  Up and back.

And every two weeks or so, I am amazed at the changes taking place.

The gorgeous greens of newly emerging ferns!

Cattle opting for shade and the cool waters of the creek.

The delicate pink petals and yellow button centers of wildflowers on the roadside.

Those little bees are also busy!

Old cabins still stand, and the trees have leafed out.

Our turn around spot - the bush growing up through the engine block has bloomed like a bouqyet.

I will get out on this road any chance I can get.

And it's always better with a group of quilters with me!

I'm still hustling on these.  Here's another batch from the weekend. Still a ways to go, but I just keep sewing and really don't count until I have 10 to pin together and add to the done pile.

Some were asking about the pattern for this one -

It's Merry, Merry Snowmen by Bunny Hill, done in a different color way.

Something for our USA 250 happening here.

Oh how fun and art deco!

I see nine-patches!!  I always love nine-patches!

Pattern is Tilted Nine-Patch from Missouri Star.

A quilt for a son is coming together here.

Pattern is Molinos by Kelli Fox.

I know what this is!

It's Chilhowie.

Something summery with Watermelons!

Pretty!

Pressed flowers is a Sew Sampler by Moda.

More flowers on the wall!

This is very Asian inspired!

Brunch on the porch - in jammies!

And our first fire pit of the season - but NOT in jammies! (Though I suppose they could have if they had wanted to!)

We were just settling in, not everyone had made it out of the house yet to join us -

No s'mores needed - there were enough desserts left from all of the other nights that an attempt to minimize those became the effort instead of making MORE sweets.

It's been a wonderful weekend, and I'm sure glad everyone got to experience some lovely Virginia summer weather in the mountains.

How about your weekend?  What did you get up to?
