By early afternoon I had a few free hours ahead of me, so I headed back to the QPO to start assembling some blocks.
How quickly I forgot what it was like to have a "studio cat" discover just how fun a design floor could be.
I had gone home the night before rather chuffed with the block arrangement I had decided on.
I was happy to see that things were still in place in the morning when I first went in to feed Hazel before heading over to the inn to finish up preparations for yesterday afternoon's arrivals.
Ummmmm. Yeah.
?Evidently, if mom's away the cat will play!
Can I really blame her? It was her mouse toy's fault!
At any rate, this is where I left things yesterday when it was time to go home.
I have one column left to assemble, and then I can start all of that heinous pin matching of points and get the top center assembled.
And I think I'm leaning towards this:
More geese in my future!
And maybe followed by mor aqua strings as the final outside border?
As long as there are still plenty of scraps in these colors, why not keep giving them purpose until the quilt is done?
At this point I *could* be simply cutting them with my Essential Triangle Tool and piecing the the traditional way, but I started with paper, and I'm going to continue, though I will provide traditional piecing options in the pattern for those who would rather work that way.
The geese on the diagonal of the main block, however, are ODD SIZED so paper piecing is the way to go with those.
Whatever method works the best to use up the scraps you have without having to cut them down to any particular size is the best way to go for me.
After going as far as I could go in the studio, I headed back over to the inn to see how everyone was settling in.
And though there were a few sewing stations in the progress of being set up, and a couple of projects already on design walls. (I love Moonflower in this colorway!) the house was a ghost town and devoid of retreater noise and excitement.
Cute cute cute!
Not sure if this is Unity or something similar at this point -
Aha! I found the missing retreaters!
After all of the rain we have had over the past week, it's nice to have a bit of sunshine and relaxation happening on the porch. The temperature was just right. There was the gentlest of breezes...
We've got another great week ahead.
My hope is that we'll squeeze in a few nice dirt road hikes, enjoy more porch time, maybe even have a fire pit...in between all of the quilting that is bound to happen.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -
Me as I fill up my online shopping cart... Fishing gear? No?
So suspicious!
Have a terrific Thursday, everyone -

Actually, Hazel said SHE was quilting with those blocks. After all she has become an expert on arranging blocks, don’t you think? LOL.
ReplyDeleteWill the new book coming out contain new patterns or only patterns that appear in other books? The reason I’m asking, I already own all of your previously published books.
ReplyDeleteHazel girl meant no harm I think....wonder how old she is?
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice layout.
Haven't been sewing, been resting my poor back.
Have a wonderful day
Oh Hazel! Too tempting with blocks on the floor. I'm playing Quilt yoga later. Gotta get that Wedding Ring Quilt to Flimsy. Any Quiltville book is good to add to my Quikt Livrary. I think I pre-ordered it
