Misfits In The House!

The Muddy Creek Misfit gals arrived on Wednesday - and the purple and white Dame's Rocket was here to greet them!

I tell my men-folk who take care of the yard that these wildflower areas are NO MOW until the blossoms have gone.

They are such a great place for bees and butterflies - and let's face it - that purple abundance is so great for my soul. It's riotous!

From my walk -

Does purple just grow on us as we get older?

I've always loved purple....but do I love it more now? Yes.  Yes, I do!

No purple here, but I also love photographing derelict places with unknown history.

And yes, quilts are happening!

Ann made this adorable bird...anyone have a pattern source?

Please leave it in the comments below.  Too cute!

Lots of Quilts of Valor sewing happening here too!

"Plaidish" in red, white and blue.

And another!

Big bows for 4th of July coming up!

I'm loving the woven look of this one.

Found in this book:

Lots of great quilts in here.

Now this looks fun!

Great scrap buster.

And if your patterns don't have hand written notes, just what are you doing??

Some Square-in-a-Square action here:

Seven Lakes by Bearhug Quiltworks!

I spy LOADS of  colorful curved piecing!

I need more info on what this is going to be...I'll be watching this one!

I love ANYTHING with strong diagonals!

We've been watching Muriel put this lovely house quilt together...row by row!  She even took it down to do some hand embroidery on the tree. Look close and see all of the fussy cuts!

Tada!

There are still borders to come.

Hexies are always great for retreat!  These are all Liberty of London scraps.  LOVELY!

Taking a break from machines and enjoying the outdoors yesterday afternoon.

We have to get up and out of our chairs and move and get some fresh air and vitamin D sunshine.

Have I still be walking my driveway?

(Still? It's been 2 days.  LOL!)

Yes. Ugh.  Yes.

But don't the woods look magical?

And yes, it's still dreadfully uphill.

I keep telling myself that it is GOOD FOR ME. My legs are still complaining.  And I'll do it again today.

If I hadn't have done it yesterday morning I would have missed the Mountain Laurel bursting in the bloom!

Aren't that green and the coral pink of the blossoms just beautiful together?

View from the top.

I fit my walk in (12 minutes - I rested mid walk and timed myself) before heading over to the clinic for a blood draw for my A1C.

I know I'm not the only type 2 diabetic amongst us. If you are like me, raise your hand. Thank you for making me not feel so alone.

When first diagnosed I was so hush hush about it.  A lot of it felt like guilt and shame.  Embarassment that I "Did this to myself" That's no way to live.

But here is what I know - Quilting is a sedentary sport. It's not good for our diabetes.  I need to move several times a day. So rather than shooting for a huge 2 1/2 mile walk in the middle of the day, I'm doing 3 short 10-ish minute walks after each meal to get things moving.  It's supposed to help with blood sugar spikes.

A short, 10–15 minute walk after meals allows muscles to use glucose for energy, reducing spikes, improving insulin sensitivity, and helping manage long-term HbA1c levels. Consistent walking can lower glucose for up to 24 hours.

And for those lucky enough to not be diabetic - this is good for you too.  It doesn't have to be extreme.  Walk to the mailbox and back if you can. 10 minutes after eating.

It's what they used to call a taking a "constitutional" back in the day.

How Hazel feels about my "Move your body" infomercial.  LOL!

For everyone confused about where to pre-order my new book, Scrap-Savvy, you'll find all of the information and the link to pre-order in yesterday's blog post.

The book will be available in July. We are just taking pre-orders now.

I have pinned that post and given it its own tab at the top of the blog. Look for that tab that says Scrap-Savvy Pre-Order to easily get to the post with all of the links and information.

I will not be shipping these myself as they are hardbound, heavy, and won't fit a priority mail envelope and ship safely.

They will not be available for sale on my website, but there will be a link there that will direct you back to the C&T website to order when they are available.

Scrap-Savvy will also be available for purchase through all of your favorite mail order sources.

I am also hoping your local quilt shops will get them in so please let them know it's coming and ask them to order them in.

It's Mother's Day week!

(Or what's left of it...)

After spending time with my mom and my aunts and getting to see my son in the process, I've placed all Digital patterns in the Quiltville Store 25% off with no coupon needed.

We won't have another "all patterns" sale until Thanksgiving, so now is your chance to grab all the things!

This sale expires at 11:30pm Eastern time on Sunday.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

You know what they say, never shop on an empty stomach! LOL!

No Oreos for me really...can we substitute carrots, celery and hummus instead?

Welcome to the weekend, everyone!
