Quilters Of The Night Over The Rail!

It was the rainiest of rainy weeks! It started last Wednesday...continued through to Sunday when we finally had a break in the weather to get some over-the-porch-rail photos.

More rain was incoming -

And as predicted, it's raining again this morning.  No complaints - we need it!

But what about our quilts?

Hurry and get those photos in before it starts raining again!

I don't have pattern info on these, please leave it in the comments section below if you know - I love the tilted blocks.  The scrappy Pyramids quilt top is so fun.

Tumbling blocks variation, Zola quilt, and Chapel Street.

Boomerang and a lovely single Irish chain.

Percy the Penguin and Arkansas Crossroads.

I found a free tutorial HERE.

Medallion quilt and Old Town.

We finished our photo shoot just in time - that sky was getting back again.....and it was only 4pm?

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend retreat in spite of the rain.

And guess what time it is now? It's time to draw for the winners in our Crackers & Jam gift-away

Let's draw for our winners!

I'll be drawing for two winners who will each receive a Crackers & Jam PDF pattern from me and a Notable Neutrals fabric roll from  Cotton to Quilts!

I'm so excited that you are so excited.  We had 3668 entries!

Who is entry 3260?

Brenda Baughman!

And entry 884 is?

Andra Zamacona!

Congrats, ladies!  Please check your email inboxes for an email from me containing your  Crackers & Jam PDF pattern.

Reply to that email with your mailing address and I'll have the folks at  Cotton to Quilts get your fabric prizes out to you both.

Introductory Pricing:  I've placed Crackers & Jam in the Quiltville Store at 25% off with no coupon code needed. Discount applied at checkout and good through 5/31/26.

This two-block quilt is a paper piecer’s dream with simple shapes, printable templates, full color photos and step-by-step instructions to make the most of your scrap stash with fabulous results.

Quilt Size: 78’’ X 78’'

I spent time doing this yesterday -

The dreaded "pinning to match points" chore!

And no, I don't worry about little flecks of paper - they eventually fall off while I am getting the top set together. Who has time to pick them all out anyway?

It's taking time to pin the crucial points, so it was just me and some Britbox in the background in between flipping loads of retreat laundry.

Blocks are becoming bigger blocks.

But the bigger question is....will I set them side-by-side?

Or offset like this?

That is the question!

I've also played with ideas like setting them in a "barn raising" trip around the world kind of layout, or even that off-center...the ideas are so many how do I choose just one?

And then there are thoughts on borders....do I need more flying geese to tie everything off? SO MANY GEESE!

But that's the fun thing about quilting, isn't it? All of the ideas, options, and opportunities.

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

One of the things I love about quilting is that I can do it without screens, without streaming, without subscriptions.

If I use my treadle or am hand stitching, I don't even need electricity.

Except for the iron. I need the iron. And good lighting.

But all in all, quilting is meditation and a great way to disconnect from life stress.

Until I have to grab the seam ripper and then all bets are off!

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone -

Quilting is both visual and tactile. I can feel the neural pathways in my brain get lit up and activated with dopamine when colourways and patterns work well. The tactile component provides calming and zen when touching the fabric, feeling the texture, evening up edges and smoothing with an iron.

Congratulations to the winners. Brenda and Andria. Lucky girls. Now I need to get over to the web site and get my copy before the sale is over. I agree with you Bonnie. When you have to pick up the ripper your attitude changes. Hopefully you will get all the rain you need and not flood. One good thing about living on top of the mountain. LOL Brenda Jackson

Anyway you set up the blocks will be beautiful ❤️ I know that's no help. Just filled our Hummingbird feeders so I will be going down stairs.

Me, too. I’m in Ohio and we’re tired of the rain, too.

I like the offset, too. I am also tired of rain here in OH but less gardening and more quilting is not all bad.

  8. I love the ideas running through my head. Let the Quilt speak to you. Hopefully not more flying geese.
We got a little sprinkle after I got home on Memorial day. It makes the flowers grow. I love seeing the roses and lilies bloom. Happy Wednesday. Congrats to the winners.
