The skies were a bit dark and cloudy -
But the rain never came. Not a drop.
We were able to get our over the porch rail photos done before everyone headed out - well ALMOST everyone! More on that at the bottom of this post.
I love seeing our yearly Quiltville Winter Mysteries showing up in different colors than what I used.
Check out this Lupine & Laughter with turquoise and orange and a black background - it has a very southwestern feel to me.
We had several varieties of Lupine & Laughter and needed to photograph them all together!
And that wasn't the ONLY mystery - next to the long tall flower (Pattern unknown) is an On Ringo Lake that has grown lots over the course of the retreat! The last quilt was made with a Jelly roll but I am unsure of the pattern name. (Leave it in the comments, please!)
Another mystery completion, En Provence on the left! The red/white/blue on top of it is Checkers & Chains by Sew Kind of Wonderful.
Then a beautiful Jamestown Landing in Blue and white - pattern from String Fling.
Jack's chain is still in progress, but so much further along than when retreat started!
On the left - made as a temperature quilt! Followed by Appalachian Autumn and another view of a Lupine & Laughter.
What a terrific end to a wonderful week!
Liz was camping nearby while her mom was here at Quiltville Inn so mother and daughter could enjoy road tripping before and after retreat.
While mom Laurie was retreating her brains out for the week with the April Quiltvillians, Liz was about 20 minutes down the road on the North Carolina side at one of the state parks camping in her cute little Scamp.
Liz would drive back and forth on days we were doing dirt road hikes to join us and came along on our Appalachian Trail hike up to see the ponies.
On Monday evening after going to town to fill up with gas and get groceries and needed things for their return trip home and returning to camp, t seems the starter went out on Liz's truck.

Her truck has been towed to Jefferson for repairs while we hooked up the camper and pulled everybody back to the retreat until the truck is ready for the road again.
It's a good thing we don't have retreaters this week due to Easter coming up this next weekend.
Happy to help and grateful the plot twist was only a bit inconveniencing for them!
Hopefully the truck will be repaired by this afternoon, but for now I'm happy knowing this cute little camper is parked safely in the retreat driveway and mother and daughter can continue their adventure in the comfort of the empty retreat.
It all just adds to the adventure!
There wasn't much time for any of this - but there was SOME.
Through it all, laundry still had to be run and folks needed clean sheets, clean towels -
Today? If the mechanic calls, I'll take Liz to pick up the truck - depending on what time of day that is, they may stay one more night, or if it is early enough they may be on their way back to Georgia.
It all depends on the mechanic!
It's an interesting start to my spring break week, but here we are!

ReplyDeleteI love that quilt, too... Maybe it is "Garden Twist?" It seems to be at least similar. If you google it you will get lots of hits...
DeleteAnyone know what the second quilt is called? Those interlocking blues would be a great way to show off a favorite fabric you don't want to cut small. Love all the pretty quilts that get shone. Bonnie you made a difficult day easier for your retreaters. You are so kind and go out of your way to show kindness. That's what I love about you.

ReplyDeleteHA! That is literally my tag line on my Facebook page. " It is what it is, I quilt to deal with it!" Great stuff this week. I hope that it's a simple fix on the vehicle and that they can still sew a bit while they wait. You're right as always, it will just add to the story! Happy Spring Break!!
ReplyDeleteLoving all the beautiful quilts today! I also really like the blue & white one , too! How nice of you to have a wonderful solution to Liz & Laurie's truck situation! We camped for 30+ yrs & only had one situation where the water pump went out in the truck. We were fortunate to pull into a garage that could work on a diesel truck. Your kindness made a stressful situation so much better!
