Way Too Early!

It's Monday morning - the day after "Spring Forward."

I thought they were going to stop doing this time changing thing!

The clock says 5:30am, but my body still knows it's only 4:30.

I'm out the door to the dermatologist to have two moles surgically removed - appointment 7L00am.

Time to get there? One hour to Bonne.

There will be a nap!

But to keep this little post quilty, I have a finish!

Last stitches were taken last night - and as I knotted that last thread and buried the ends, removed the hoop and ran my hands over the surface I thought back to when this quilt went IN the hop, with the hope of spring in the colors in front of me.

Yes, some quilts are for quick finishing.  Some - I just want to spend a bit more time with and hand quilting is what they need.

The ending where fans met fans is somewhere in between the navy plaid and the pink.

Yesterday we went to the moves and saw the Bob Markey documentary. I love movies that are very closely true to life, and to be honest I didn't know much about the life of Bob Marley at all.

I didn't know anything about the wars and struggles in Jamaica as they happened between the time I was 11 years old to about 17 years old.  I was clueless and boy crazy and that was out of my own culture and so far away.

I'm so glad we went!  I have always liked some of the messages in his songs and now I know where they come from.

The oops part of yesterday?  Coming out from dinner afterward, I tripped over a curb and went flying, landing on my hands and knees - my left knee taking the brunt of the fall on the black top parking lot.

Yes. That left knee.

Swollen and bruised, and painful to walk, but all does move and I don't think I broke or tore anything.

Ivy, giving me that know it all look -

So as I type this quickly to post - there are ice packs and ibuprophen for my knee, and Im off to have two moles carved off of my body.

Gail's Quilt Buddies are also departing today - but since my surgery is so early I'm hoping to still catch some of them back at the retreat when I am out of the dermatologists.

Hubster is driving.  Dogs are wondering what the heck we are doing at this ungodly hour and why can't they come too?

I'll catch you on the flip side, everyone!

Worrying can't stop the bad stuff from happening, but it can stop you from enjoying the good.

Don't let worry steal your peace.

Happy Monday!

Oh Bonnie! This is beautiful! The nine patch border is absolutely perfect! Amazing how it has the perfect balance of simplicity, scrappiness, and color. I need to try handquilting. More time to love your fabric choices.i don’t know much about Bob Marley but I bet my husband and I would enjoy the documentary. Thank you for telling us about it. And…ouch.

  3. Oh, Bonnie! I am so sorry to hear of your injury. I've fallen or whacked a knee a couple of times this year. Why does it always seem to be the bad knee that repeatedly gets the injury? I was so happy to see this quilt again. I love this block pattern and tried to find it in reference books back when you first started the project. But since its name was unknown, I didn't have much luck. Maybe it will be a pattern someday. Please take care of yourself.

  4. older than you with fall experience. Don't put out arms ... a pro skater informed me.

  5. Beautiful quilt. I have always wanted to learn to hand quilt. Soooo sorry for the knee.

Hi, Bonnie, sorry to hear about your fall, I too fell resently, hit my nose and both knees,I walk three miles every day for exercise, I really thing it keeps me a young 80.. you are doing the right thing, ice and ibuprofen.

  7. I'm so sorry to hear about your tumble. I hope your knee recovers quickly, your whole body actually, because it seems that falling jolts everything out of place. I would love it if they'd stop changing the time.
Your FINISHED quilt is lovely! Seems like you quilted it up very fast. Your border is the same as the border on Ladder Stars quilt, yet looks so different with the white alternating squares. It's gorgeous!
    Enjoy your nap later. :-)

  8. I dragged my family to see Bob Marley last week, don't think they liked it as much as I did, wish there had been more music, but it had been on my bucket list since I heard it was being made. I learned a lot, have been listening to his music all week, admire his tenacity, he left us all too soon.

  9. five. six years agp o was pm a statom fpr high cholesterol and after a bit of time I started falling/tripping A LOT, 3 in ten days, purple knees and palms of hands! I read about side effects and a common one is it causes falls.. I stopped taking the drug and stopped falling... I told the doctor and he just shook his head... btw, the most common cause of death in seniors is "falling" AND no one has done a study about how many of those seniors was taking a statin... just saying... I'm 82, cholesterol is still high, but angiogram showed my coronary arteries to be like that of a 25 year old!!! I know you do not ;olappreciate unsolicited advice, so this is just telling you what happened to me... hugs and thank you for all you do for the quilting world... Cats in Carlsbad CA

  10. and you cannot set a cat's clock any easier than you can your own! LOL and good morning... i've been fussing about this change of clocks thing 2x a year for ages... last i heard, congress in all its "wisdom" is considering putting us all on permanent daylight savings time... i don't care what they do, just wish they'd quit fooling with it.. xo xoCats in Carlsbad CA

  11. Oh, No! I have one of "those" knees, too, and I can so relate to what you are feeling right now. It never fails to happen to that side every time. Please be careful and take care.

  12. Here's praying all goes well, both at the dermatologist and with your poor knee. Be nice to it!!

  13. Dear Bonnie,

Sending thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery from your surgery this morning. I love your daily inspirations! They really life me up each day! I have hip arthritis now and my knees are constantly swollen and painful so I've slowed up a bit. I also love the sharing of pictures and information about your guests on retreat, your family including your fur babies as well. Thanks so much for all you do, Bonnie!

  14. Oh no! So sorry about your fall! I don't go out much after dark because of my reduced vision but when I do I always hold DH's hand for guidance. Hope you heal quickly form your fall and mole removal...........yep sometimes a nap is the best medicine! The hand quilting is fabulous, what a treasure!
