Thanksgiving Weekend in the Strings!

Did yesterday feel like Sunday to anyone else but me?

Today feels like Monday, and it's only Saturday.

I think there was so much build up to Thanksgiving, and then yesterday's Part One release of our Indigo Way Mystery - I've just been all kinds of "What day is it anyway?!"

Not that more weekend is a bad thing.  It's great for sewing - only I must confess that my Arizona Sunset project and the Cardinal inspired other project have been set aside for a bit until I finish something up.

Whenever I have felt the desire to simply sew and not have to match points, or worry about exacting things like seam allowances for half-square triangles or flying geese, I pull out the bin of strings and just make blocks.

Mindless sewing has been my relaxation over the past few days - and I've now become obsessed to the point that I need to push this through to a top.

Stringing workstation!

The red tin has hunks and chunks that were too short to be strips, but pieces that would fit as I worked further out toward the corners of my phone book paper foundations.

Surely this is enough to become something?

I mean - just look at this stack!

It's only half the amount I need!

And Lola the scrap compactor is making things interesting, to say the least.

I need to make a ton more.

It's not like there is a scrap shortage or anything -

2 candidates for sashing.

And perhaps I'll search for other options by the time I get to that point.

The strings are so busy and bright that I want something that will tone it down, and I'm not a fan of big amounts of white-on-white.

I could go with something like a solid yellow? Not sure.  But I need to keep making blocks, so that's up on deck today.

Thursday's Thanksgiving community dinner at Corner Market.

It was fantastic - and just enough.  I love knowing that proceeds benefit those in need in my commnuity.

Thanksgiving selfie sent to family far and wide.

Of course, there has been much hub-bub around yesterday's Part One of the Indigo Way Mystery

The most often asked question is "What if I want a smaller quilt?"

Make half the units.  You may end up with a few units extra, or have to make a few more once the reveal happens. From that point you'll be designing on your own and working your way through your options.

This is a mystery.  That's all I can say.  Those who want to go their own direction are in charge of their own ship's course.

Same thing for those changing colors - I don't get involved with that or make suggestions for people.

Embrace your wild side and go with it - but I can't tell you how it is going to come out.

All of this is currently happening:

Good through Monday 11/27/23:

My friend Debbie first told me about the incredible gel pad she had received – raving about how she could sew for hours on end with no hip or back issues -

I sew with a SewPad at the sewing machine. I have one on my desk chair.

All of the dining room chairs at Quiltville Inn have SewPad for comfortable seating for retreat guests.

SewPad™ is filled with a thick cushion of proprietary viscoelastic polymer gel– the same stuff used in surgical mats and wheelchair pads.

Unlike foam (memory foam or otherwise) gel doesn’t bottom-out and it provides comfort and support by diffusing and distributing pressure.

Upholstered in a plush layer of AirFlex™ fabric, SewPad™ helps your backside stay cool while the no-slip bottom keeps it from sliding around in your chair.

This thing is thick and heavy!

In fact, I plopped it right down on my postal scale because I was curious – and it weighs in at 4 1/2 lbs of ultimate seating comfort!

The back side is grippy for no slippy!

Right on top of my sewing chair it goes.

SewPad™ was designed for quilters and crafters, but we think you’ll find other uses as well.

Church. Stadium seats, in the car and anywhere else that you might expect to be sitting for a good while.

Being comfortable is a wonderful thing!

So here's the good part.

The COUPON CODE for FREE SHIPPING within the USA is THANKFUL. Be sure to use the code to receive free shipping.

There are more fun things and gift-aways starting Monday.  Stay tuned for more!

I applaud those who are brave enough and talented to change up their color... wow... how do they know??? I've got a better handle on it now, but when i first saw that the mystery was not set in stone, that Bonnie would not "help" with other ideas, but leave us on our own to do our own thing>??>? wow... it's only one example of why I follow and love the Bonnie Hunter thang!!! I actually thought the grey from your floor mats was the sashing until I looked closer - it looks really good with dark color!

  13. First sentence out of the gate, and I'm all, "YES!!! I though I was the only one who lost an entire weekend!" (Or gained a second one, depending on how you look at it.)
