Ruby Jubilee Mystery - 40 Years of Quiltmaker!

It's out!

It may not have arrived at your doorstep yet if you are a subscriber, but it has hit newsstands, and is available as a digital copy if you must have it in your hot little hands NOW!

How many of you are feeling antsy while waiting for part 1 of our Quiltville Winter Mystery, Rhododendron Trail, to be released November 26th?

Did you know that Quiltmaker Magazine is featuring a Ruby Jubilee mystery starring blocks from my Addicted to Scraps columns (from the past 10 years!) in every 2022 issue?

Denise Starck did an awesome job designing this quilt from my blocks and I am playing along too!

I started with the 3 blocks at the top, pulling from my purples and neutrals - many of the block parts are Scrap User's System friendly!

I then moved on to these cuties - Making the number given in the pattern.

Yes, all yardage requirements and block sizes and more info is given in Quiltmaker Magazine. I will not be posting any instructions here, just sharing my progress with you.

I've chosen purple because I have made many quilts focusing on red in the past year, and I need something to use the purple scraps.

I then moved on to these super cute pinwheels!

Issues come out every 2 months, so while we overlap Rhododendron Trail with Ruby Jubilee at the beginning, there will be time to keep sewing all year long.

What color will you make yours?

I can't wait to see what blocks we get to make in the March/April issue which releases in February - AFTER Rhododendron Trail has been revealed.

Yes!  We can do this!

My hope is that you'll also find yourself jumping into BOTH!

Quiltville Inn dining room rearrange!

The fancy china cabinet with Carrie's great-aunt's Magnolia china has been moved to this wall.

The pine cupboard has been moved where the china cabinet used to be.

Amidst much grumbling and level-wielding, the Hubster helped me rehang pictures and signs where I wanted them to go.

My Make One Thing Better for yesterday included emptying out two large totes of my pink depression glassware and other precious bits and placing them in this cupboard.  (This photo is a before shot.)

One of the totes also included a bunch of favorite grey graniteware - old pots, pans, bowls and colanders that are now hung in the inn kitchen to decorate that space.

I'll get photos today - No sooner were Susan and I done with making beds, and waving her off that Lori's Quiltville Q's (formerly Stitchin' Sisters - they've had a name change!) were arriving.  Whew!

Waiting for others to also arrive!

Nothing like a relaxing glass of wine on the porch after a long day's drive to get here -

I left them in good company as two more pulled up.  Our last straggler was stuck in traffic coming from Charlotte through Mooresville - that I-77 back up can be awful.

It would be dark by the time she pulled in, and I told the gals to just let her leave her car in the loading zone.  She can park in the parking lot this morning in the daylight.  We don't want a repeat of car-in-the-ditch as happened last week!

In my own sewing adventure -

I'm loving this!  And wait until you see where it is going.  I should be able to finish these Triplet blocks today - and then I have a whole 'nuther part to get to, involving a lot of cutting and more scrap strip using which always feels good.
I have placed the printable PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point at 25% off - only $9.00 in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store. Sale price good through 11/24/21 when it will return to full price at $12.00. No coupon code required.

It's time to pull out those languishing holiday fabrics and sew yourself into the holiday spirit!
I made the runner in blue, too!  Good for having out all winter long!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

To our veterans, we honor and thank you today and always for the sacrifice you made and continue to make on our behalf.

YOU are what makes America the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Thank you for protecting our freedoms.

Happy Veterans Day! Go hug a Vet!

  4. Love the new placement of the cabinets. I’m going to try to do both of the mystery quilts. Think I’ll do Ruby Jubilee in reds, I haven’t done a red quilt yet. This will be fun. Thank you Bonnie. Ratchell in Arkansas.

  6. I made a wedding quilt for my son and daughter-in-law using a scrappy pattern from Buggy Barn many years ago. It was all turquoise, brown, and off-white. It is still one of my favorite quilts and color combinations. Can't wait to see what yours will look like!!

  10. Bonnie I love your new cabinet. It reminds me of the one my husbands aunt had in her kitchen.

  11. I'm thinking about sewing the Quiltmaker mystery out of Civil war fabrics instead of choosing a single color. I have inherited my great grandmother's bedroom set, and I think it would look nice on that bed. (Her name was Elizabeth and she was born on Christmas day of 1866. She was a quilter, too. I don't know what the story is on the bedroom set.)

  13. I’m in on BOTH mysteries, and, yes, I did buy the digital copy. As a new subscriber, I wasn’t sure when the magazine would arrive! I plan to get started today after my errand run to town. ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks, Bonnie, for all you do!

  14. I do love your comment, "Go hug a Vet today". I give mine a hug and a smooch every day. Wish they had Veteran's Spouses Day!! Yes, our Veterans fought for us, but there was mom holding the fort down at home. And usually taking care of the other wives in the unit. I do believe I have done it all. Yes, I am patting myself on the back. I do feel blessed that my husband and son are Veteran's.
