Fur Babies & Quilty Friends

So many of you have asked over the past while why you haven't seen photos of Zoey and Ivy together in my posts.

I'm blaming the swap out of the old couch/chair/ottoman to the two reclining love seats that we brought up from the Wallburg house before putting it on the market.

It threw BOTH of the pets for a loop - they like routine and get confused by change, you know?  (I know a lot of people like that, too come to think of it!)

So when this finally happened last night, I grabbed the phone and took some photos.

It started out as a simple binding evening -

Here I'm stitching the binding down on one long side of Cherry Crunch. (Pattern to come January, so stay tuned!) and before I knew it:

Ivy hasn't done this in the longest time!

I'm thinking that nights are colder, and fire in the gas fireplace is toasty, and she wanted a warm place to snuggle in. Like a brick.

Deep into a stare off.

First to blink has to vacate!

Guess who won?  LOL!

It's safe to say that I didn't get very far on binding that side last night - I couldn't turn the corner with Zoey sleeping on me like this - but I'll take it!

The November Quiltvillians, having a ball!

Why are they elevating their brunch plates?  No, it's not a secret ritual.

SOMEONE has a Q stamped on the bottom of their plates - and whoever has the Q wins a prize!  It's a fun way to break the ice and kick off the day with some fun.

There was also some NOT so fun:

Ooops!  Missed the driveway!

It was late Wednesday night.  It was dark. And somehow our anonymous quilter overshot the turn while backing out of the drive and found herself down the hill.

No worries - the car was already unloaded with all of the quilty stuff inside.  But in these parts, a rescue like this has to wait for daylight.

Tow truck to the rescue!  Click to Play:

All's well that ends well.

And all returned to their regularly scheduled quilting time!

What a day!

My "Make One Thing Better" happened before dinner as I looked at that big basket of odd scraps on my cutting table from yesterday's post.

Some of the scraps are now Fish School ready!

I'm watching the contents of that basket go down, 10 minutes at a time.

It was 27 when I awoke this morning.  Brrrr.  We have a projected high of 48.  I'm holding on, as we are supposed to be back in the 60s NEXT week.  Bring it!  It's too early to stay this cold!

Friday's plan:

After all the mail order stuff was trundled off to the USPS, I found myself a bit of time to start pressing those triangle units I had also shown in a pile in yesterday's post. I'm about half-way done with that job, and then I can start on the next.

I like to take my time with the pressing job.  It's a matter of press to square, or press to distort. I also take the time to trim each and every dog-ear on any unit, and trim any thready bits on the unit sides that may appear from handling.  Everything gets a haircut in the de-dog-ear activity.  It really helps when joining units together in the next step.

Dog ears belong ONLY on the dogs, never in patchwork units.

How about you own Friday, and into the weekend? What plans do you have?

I have placed the printable PDF pattern for Pine Tree Point at 25% off - only $9.00 in the digital pattern section of the Quiltville Store. Sale price good through 11/24/21 when it will return to full price at $12.00. No coupon code required.

I made the runner in blue, too!  Good for having out all winter long!

And don't forget to enter - It's October Quilty Box Gift-Away time! And you can get your entry in ON THAT POST.

The fabrics in this box are super gorgeous - and one lucky winner will be drawn TOMORROW Saturday, 11/6/21. So get those entries in!

Quiltville Quote of the Day -

  2. oh boy oh boy oh boy! do i have browns>??? yesterday my DOT was to sort and purge, one bag of donated scraps & pieces... I got so involved it turned into an all day project, no worries, not even close to finish, and the day just evaporated... not even close to sorting into scrap user system... but lots of good sized pieces to gift to our small group!!!! I managed to empty a small bin of flannel parts, combined to Banker's Box size and using the bin to a BOM collection not started, 5 months into receiving parts!!! The flannels will go to a larger collection of squares & parts and maybe on dowm the road to the TLC Group!!! I love the reminder to enjoy the process rather than hurry hurry hurry on to the next one and next and....i find i enjoy nothing and feel whelmed! Thank you, again, Bonnie, i hope you never tire hearing my gratitude for your contribution to my life and quilters world wide... i, too, am sad that shipping/postage is so dear -- i'd be sharing more of my abundance if it included $$ for shipping... sigh... Happy Friday and healthy weekend everybody!!! Cats in Carlsbad CA

  4. Cats do not like change! Move a piece of furniture 6" and they automatically think you are planning a move cross country! They are snugglers--and I have learned to treasure each and every snuggle moment. HST definitely worth a careful pressing and dogear removal

  6. I still don't understand how you take a basket of scraps to make triangles like that. Do you pair 2 pieces and cut triangles, one set at a time? How did you plan it to become the fishies?

  7. Hoping my puppy will eventually let me do my hand work at night - right now, way too curious and wants to claim anything I'm working on as his own!

  9. My Make one better was sorting and emptying 4 Vacuum sealed bags of Quilty stuff, including my Frolic and Grassy Creek Mystery fabrics. Need to cut up some scraps! Worked on a fun border for my siggy and epp heart quiltlet. Hst pressing and de-dogear-ing is a thing.

  11. This week my MOTB has been rearranging some large furniture. The hubby decided Wednesday was too cold and wet to work in his shop, so I put him to work in the house. Last week I rearranged my sewing cabinet that was in the den, which put an extra chair in there from my bedroom. So, the matching chairs were moved to an area across from my office, which displaced the treadmill. It got moved into the breakfast nook…we don’t ever eat there. But to do that, I had to get rid of an empty bookcase and rearrange 2 others. So they were unloaded, moved cleaned around and reloaded. Thursday, I listed the extra bookcase on marketplace, and it sold the same day…it’s gone! I also went through my cabinets and bookshelves and minimized the number of glass jars I was hoarding. This morning, when I was dressing for the 39 degree weather, I cleared out some long sleeved shirts from my closet that I don’t look good in since I let my hair go grey. 🥳🥳🥳. Things are clicking right along! I’m hoping my continual decluttering…which started before Covid hit…will drift out into the hubby’s shop. He has 2500 square feet of “projects” that he won’t live long enough to fix and sell.😂😂😂. But it’s looking up…he at least can now admit he is a hoarder! That’s the first step. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I think I may dig out some of my vintage machines and list them to sell. I never use them and it’s a shame for them to sit there.😢
