No time to waste! Get breakfast, and head out the door back across the street to the airport in Lima for our flight to Iquitos.
Our ultimate destination?
A 25 mile ride up the Amazon River surrounded by jungle on all sides – we have 3 nights and all kinds of activities planned at Cieba Tops resort!
We flew in to Lima in darkness, so I had no idea how incredibly large Lima is.

Range after range of vastness..with heights growing every higher until finally they become snow capped.

I made a quicky video….I can’t believe it. I’m in Peru!
As we got closer to Iquitos, the mountains ended and became jungle covered valleys – and winding rivers were the next focus….was THIS the Amazon we were seeing?
No! This was the Napo, but it does flow into the Amazon!

We discussed it. It’s a cross between a banana snowcone, or a banana flavored popsicle, with maybe a bit of juicy fruit gum thrown in. Whatever it is, it’s ultra sugar and ultra caffiene! Oh yes, we were feeling no tiredness at this point!

45 minutes later we are at our lodge!

This day was filled full to the brim. We took a long nature hike through the Amazon jungle, and I have all of those photos on the BIG camera –I need to do a transfer with the memory card to get the photos on here so I can edit them down. I need more time!
We had a great evening gathering, a wonderful Peruvian meal and then it was off to bed early for everyone, falling asleep with the sounds of jungle-song all around us.
things I’ve missed talking about above but included in the slide show below: IQUITOS!! Such a colorful bustling vibrant little city. I was sitting in the center of the bus not near a window so my photos are, well – what I could see from THERE! But you’ll get the feel of it.

Life is amazing. Just Amazing.
This morning we are up and at it again. This post is posting at 5am Peru time, and at 5:35 am we are taking a sunrise river ride up to another lodge for a special breakfast and then off to do the canopy walk way, visit a shaman and see what else the Amazon has in store for us today.
Sunrises are so very high on my list of soul centering experiences. To experience the dawning of daylight right on the Amazon?

ReplyDeleteYou go places I've not ever dreamed of going. Thanks for taking us along with your pictures. I don't think I would sleep with all the jungle noises. How was it? The map shows how wind-y the rivers are in Peru. Be safe in the Jungle!
