This photo is NOT Lima! It was dark when we arrived in Peru last night, we didn’t get to our hotel until well after midnight..and it is a short night’s sleep because we’ve got another flight after breakfast this morning to get us to Iquitos!
I also sat in the center section of the plane..not a window near me….just the bathroom on either side of our row….the only thing I saw next to me in the aisles were bodies from the waist down. LOL But that’s how it goes with glamor travel, you know?
What you see here is MIAMI! I loved how the sky was reflected in these man made ponds. So fun to see the beauty of the world, even in manufactured industrial areas!
Lots of tile roofs down there!
I spy IKEA!!!
And yes, I kept myself ever busy with this!
Everything went swimmingly when it came to meeting up with our group. No one had missed flights or lost luggage and I was so excited to meet everyone!
Here we are ready to board for Lima!
Oh yes, this is going to be a wild and crazy bunch!
Spied in a vending machine….
Inca Kola? There are signs for this stuff everywhere! I’m not sure I want to taste it, they say it tastes like bubble gum. Uhhhh…..NNOOOOO!
The view from my window.
As I said, it was late late late when we got in, and there was nowhere to go, nothing to see but the back of our eyelids.
A 6am wake up call greeted me this morning with a bright and cheery “Buenos Dias!” and we are up and running.
This morning’s view!
Let’s get this day started!
Today’s itinerary!
We have several flights within Peru during this trip, and today we leave for the Amazon. Our large suitcases are being left here in Lima, we will travel with much smaller carry on size bags or duffels with minimal stuff as we go deeper in to Peru!
I can’t wait to see what we will see! This is going to be such an amazing trip!
I don’t know what the wifi status will be as we travel, but I’ll be updating as often as I can!
Next Stop, Iquitos!
sounds like a busy day! thanks for the armchair version!

And I would be happy to meet you and take a class here, in the USA! But, wow, you sure take it up a whole lot of notches! Good for you, and good for the travelers with you! How exciting. Thanks for sharing your adventures.
ReplyDeleteWow; glad you had the first class for the first 2 legs of your very long journey. Hope you get a chance to relax along the way on this trip!!
ReplyDeleteInka Kola is our national soda. It taste great, better if it is cold, no ice, cold! Our food is the greatest in the world. Enjoy the Amazon rain forest and you all be aware of the bug.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Inca Kola when we visited Peru a number of years ago. Yes, it does taste like bubble gum, but sooo good. One of the joys of traveling outside of the US to to try all the strange unusual culinary delights a country/culture have to offer. If you get a chance to eat cuey, give it a try. :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha - Inca Kola! In Japan you can get Pokari Sweat :) .... if you're lucky. My son and I got drinks (we thought) from vending machines in a train station. I got a soda. He got hot soup which he dropped to the platform because the can was so hot. We learned to look at the colors on the vending machines to tell if the contents were hot or cold. Gaijin!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but laugh at your picture of the man made ponds. That's a sewage treatment plant. Have fun on your trip!
