In Machu Picchu Pueblo

The town of Machu Picchu Pueblo is built in and around the mountains that tower above.

This little place is bustling, of course its main industry is tourism with the ruins of Machhu Picchu close by.

The railroad brings people to and from Macchu Picchu as there are no cars here.

Everything is done on foot, and that includes hauling the luggage of excited travelers who have come to explore the area ---luggage is picked up at the train station and hauled by cart or more often, the ever present Barrow-less wheel barrow contraption:

Man delivering produce to a shop

I never saw a heavy person in Macchu Picchu pueblo!  Everything is on foot, and the entire town is hilly, up and down!

Some gotta push, some gotta pull!

And some carry on their backs!

And there are more dogs on the loose!

And small children!

This little one was playing in the street outside of her home as we walked up and down hills seeing sights.  Dogs.  Dogs EVERYWHERE.  most of the mangy.  But no one seemed to mind.  Either they belong to someone and are just on the loose, or they belong to everyone communally.

Some dogs were seen wearing sweaters!

Some just napped right on the sidewalk, oblivious to passers by!

Soccer is a BIG DEAL in Peru!

This soccer field is next to the school, and you can see housing developments behind against the mountainside.

I See You!
In Machu Picchu!

There are a lot of photos to show and you will find everything from humble dwellings to shop fronts to rock carvings to the chachkie marketplace loaded with color.

This is Machu Pichu Pueblo.  I hope you enjoy the sights and feel like you’ve been there!

Dawn is breaking!

My little corner of the Blue Ridge Mountains is just waking up to a cold and clear beautiful day! I picked my dad up at the airport in Greensboro last evening, and we made the trek up here after stopping for dinner in winston-salem. So happy to have him up here with us for the holiday!

Our friends Irene and Dave are arriving from Kentucky this evening, the boys come tomorrow. We are ready for our Thanksgiving holiday!

Oh yes, and the fridge is full to bursting! Ever so grateful!

Have a terrific Tuesday, Everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Our family feels that we know you, it's Bonnie's quilt pattern or Bonnie's trip pictures and our favorite Bonnie's Dressing, really your cousins from the recipe section. You inspire us with the shared photos, quilting patterns and tips. I am fortunate to have taken 2 classes in Florida with you and finished both quilts, then Grand Illusion, working on Talking Turkey while awaiting Alletare! Just figuring out what I need, traveling to the grocery store, shopping then unloading to the frig takes me half a day!!! I need to follow you around for a day or two. You even work in fun and quilting. Just love you, your energy and your sharing. Have a relaxing and wonderful Thanksgiving.

  6. Hi Bonnie!
I have enjoyed all the pictures of Peru and have shared them with family. One family member was on a mission trip to Bolivia while you were in Peru. The vast differences are amazing!! You had mountains with much green, while the mountains in Bolivia, where he was, are a stark contrast with no trees, just rocks and dirt!!
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends and family!!
