This will be a very short post just to let you know that I have arrived home safely --
Although my luggage did not!
When I arrived in Miami, I breezed through customs thanks to global re entry, and stood at the baggage carousel waiting for my bag….all of my group, one by one claimed their bags and went off to catch their connecting flights homeward, except me!
Turns out my bag never left Lima….it had been randomly pulled for a search and missed my flight connection.
No worries, they tell me I should have it in a day or so. I filled out all of the paper work with LAN airlines, and my confirmation came to me via email. IN SPANISH! LOL!
But I am happily home and waiting, arriving on my doorstep just past 1am this morning.
Sadie says welcome home!
My last photo taken in Peru!
It was a beautiful day to fly as you can see ---I zoomed in on these snow capped peaks, the mountains were out to wave us farewell as we flew from Cusco to Lima.
Everything else right now is a blur. I’m moving a bit slowly, and I just don’t have it in me to edit down more photos right now to do a decent post for the remainder of our trip so I’m taking today as a day to rest my mind and to settle back into a routine.
Veteran's day is perfect to do this as I reflect upon the service given by family members protecting our freedom over the past many decades.
From my grandfather William Wilkinson who served in the navy during World War II, to his son, my Uncle Robert Wilkinson who served in Vietnam along with my Uncle Steve Mach on my mom's side of the family to my brothers Scott and Rick, both navy men, to friends and family everywhere who have given of their lives and their time in the service of our country and for the cause of freedom, I thank you from the bottom of my heart!
The photo at the top of this post was taken off of my front porch this morning where our flag proudly waves.
I am so happy to be back home in the USA!
More to follow, as I am able.
Happy Veteran's Day to you too Bonnie and welcome home. Hope you get a good long rest in. Sounds like you had fun on your trip and am so looking forward to seeing your pictures.
